Official NBA 2016-2017 Thread - 30 teams, 1 goal. 2 weeks left, so much can happen!!

Let me break down my suspicions on why the Cavs rest their stars all at once..
Sure I think that the only way they don't make it to the final is due to injury so there is some logic to them going easy and resting their players.. But to me there may be something even deeper, that no one is looking at.
The Cavs are a top heavy team with a lot of role players, and one problem winning teams have with roll players is that eventually these players would start to feel they are better than they actually are, and as soon as they become a free agent they use the teams success to parlay it towards a bigger contract..
Not only that sometimes they will demand more playing time, shots and if left unchecked this me first attitude can get it the way of team comradely and chemistry..
By allowing them to play, especially against top teams, with out the big three, sorts of keep them humble and appreciated for playing on a winning team.
I may be reaching with this theory but it does appear to me that ever since the Heat lost to the Spurs, LeBron has been doing everything possible to keep the Cavs from becoming too Big headed and losing their hunger..
Like LeBron thrives off of the us against the world notion and the best was to do that is convincing everyone on the club, how dependent they are on the big three and the best way to do this is by having them lose every few weeks with out the big three. Besides them losing like so will only decrease their market value spooking other teams from offering big contracts on them, knowing they will get those players with out the big three..
If this is the case it can be genius, but then again like I said, perhaps I'm reaching..

I don't know about all of this. I felt they resting them against the clippers for two reasons:
- they been horrible on the second night of back to backs, so they tries something different by resting players on the front end...
- lakers pretty much run the same scheme as golden state, so given the full squad a extra prep just in case both teams are fortunate to reach the finals again for the 3rd straight year...

I might be wrong, but that my thoughts about resting/playing against the LA teams, all that other rest shit Lue does, shit I don't know....

Not alot of posting in here last night. Guess that means them faggot ass Cavs won. :smh: Cant wait til the playoffs so I can pull for 3 different teams to beat them bitches! :giggle:

Man fuck all that. What theyre doin is borderline cheating. Sitting players so they dont get hurt is soft. Makin sure they dont get hurt for the playoffs is some sucker shit. Ima need Kyrie and Love to get hurt again so somebody in the West can have the EASIEST path possible to a championship. Basketball gods make these niggas hurt! Make it 2015 again!

What's troubling for the Cavs is the continued piss poor defense. They gave up 120 pts to the Lakers which is unacceptable

Tired legs will not be the down fall of the Cavs but it will be the defense. Lue needs to stop acting like everything is ok

Watch the Heat or the Celtics beat the Cavs. I can easily see them slippin in the first 2 rounds. Im tired of LeBitch in the Finals every year. :smh: Put Derozan or Isaiah Thomas in there man. Yea the ratings would suck and people would stop watching after 1 game, but at least the West would have it easier to a chip.

I think the Cavs ar like 23 in total defense and that is not a good winning formula. I don't see them all of a sudden becoming a top defense in the playoffs when they have not been one all season.

They wont be. I guarantee they will be the worst team defensively in the playoffs givin up 110 a night.

I made the Warrior/Lakers system connection also and if it were just that game I would see it that way also... However, they been doing shit like this for a min and not only that you can see they like playing a lot of cat and mouse with their opponents, not only the ones they are playing against but also teams like the Celtics and Wizards.
Think about this, while they are resting their players teams like Washington and Boston are almost forced to play at full tilt, trying to catch the Cavs and often this puts added pressure on them to win.
As for my theory, how many role players in the Cavs lineup do you think are going to question the teams pecking order, or going to be on the sidelines bitching and moaning about more playing time? Believe it or not, with such a deep team, in particular one that is winning this is a major issue that can bring on detention especially in this free agent era where other teams are quick to throw big bucks at players from winning teams.
Now ask yourself this if you were G.M. of a team like the Suns, would you be willing to offer a player like Fry, both Williams or Shumpert more than what they are getting on the Cavs after seeing them lose the way they do with out LeBron and Irving playing?
Now think how much these type of roll players would have gotten on the market if the Cavs were to win the championship with the best record in the NBA..

Road I'm say this I'm probably the only cat on here who willing admits he understand your replies/stance on bball issues(not that I c/s them).
Often when that user name post a reply it's chopper with drums, a beat down, roasting session, page count is boosted etc....

My thing is this bro, many of those players are limited with what they are to do in this system(many have limits anyways). Dion Waiters is skilled but his skill wasn't wanted or skill(could've used it in the finals after Drew when down if you ask me).

I have yet to see any teammate of Lebron improve areas of their game. This year Fyre is mixing up nicely, post, mid range, deep 3's, pump fake then drive, pump fake to step back jumpers but that's shit he did when he entered the NBA. Dude is a very skilled offensive player. Shump have been doing great also, that's why teams was looking to get him via trade, but cavs wasn't allowed to package a pick with him.

Damn why the hell I'm typing all of this....

Oh I remember why I'm replying ...playing with Lebron kinda limit role players skill or limits the green light to grow/be creative. Yes the offseason is where mastering any skill should take place but during games/practice is when, it's displayed.

Road remember this fools makes this shit work!!!

I'm a big fan of role players, especially when you have a big three, most of the Cavs roll players job is to stretch the floor keeping the paint open.
The problem with role players is that they can get sick of their roll, demanding they be used more and wanting more recognition.. But on the Cavs they damn nearly have a cult like following where everyone seems more than happy to stay in line..
The only team I know that is similar is the Spurs with Pap, and think about it, they are the fist team rest a lot of their star players absorbing losses for the greater good.

Being put in to a contest where Kyrie and Lebron have to play 38 minutes against a team trying to tank isn't anything to brag about Queen
