In its latest push toward becoming a video-first company, Facebook is said to be working on a video content delivery app designed for set-top streaming boxes like Apple TV.

Citing sources familiar with the company's plans, The Wall Street Journal reports Facebook is developing a tvOS app to bring video content —and advertising —to TV screens in living rooms around the world.

Apple is consolidating power within the smartwatch industry at an alarming rate. A growing number of competitors are exiting the space as the anticipation and promise found with wrist computing has materialized for only a select few. For the rest, smartwatches have been nothing but frustration and despair. The writing is on the wall. There isn't a smartwatch industry. Instead, there's only an Apple Watch industry.

There isn't a smart watch industry regardless of Apple.

Well i still have the stock

I have been buying and selling AAPL since 2007.

So i'm not a hater

I just know what is going on in tech

"Revenue jumped 3% to $78.4 billion, which is a new record high thanks mainly to strong demand for the iPhone 7. This helped Apple reclaim the title of the world’s top smartphone seller for the first time in five years, beating out rival Samsung."

Just saying
There's a difference between top smartphone seller, and most profit. Samsung has always sold more phones, but made less profit on each. Same in PC's. Marketshare dont mean shit if you arent making profit. Just apologize and go away, Apple is changing things.

The youth don't want a smart watch or a watch in general, they look at watches as bracelets; something decorative. I tried to give my niece a watch and she looked at me like I was crazy. A smart watch is the side chick in a cell phone/person relationship.

Yeah, I hear you, maybe I'm out of touch; however, it seems so antiquated. Why carry around a phone and a smart watch? One phone is so simple.

Give it some time. The "wearables" market is just getting started.

The apple watch isn't that bad

This is what I use it for without having to keep my phone on me

  • skip through my music/podcast playlist
  • answer phone calls, yes you can answer calls with the watch and talk through the watch speakers
  • read and respond to text messages
  • the timer is pretty handy
  • pedometer
  • look at pics (when bored)
  • view reminders
These are all pretty basic tasks and I wouldn't call the watch a must have device but it is convenient to have.

About to buy the wifey a Apple Watch for a anniversary gift.

She has different devices like the pedometer so the watch is what she needs.

For me the killer app on the watch is apple pay (nfc). So simple and quick, I use it multiple times everyday.

Most merchants don't even know how to process it on their old verifone card readers. (I have to show them & they freak out :D).

I even got my barber using it through his square reader. It's only a matter of time before it takes off.

Yes apple pay is pretty cool, Best Buy and Trader Joes are the only stores I go that use it though.

I see we have some fans of the company in here now........

Analysts raise Apple targets, see shares going as high as $156 after best-quarter ever

By Neil Hughes
Wednesday, February 01, 2017, 09:57 am PT (12:57 pm ET)

Led by the blockbuster debut of the iPhone 7 series, Apple exceeded Wall Street's expectations with its holiday quarter, sending shares of the company's stock higher and prompting analysts to revise their price targets upward.

In particular, Macquarie Securities, RBC Capital Markets, and Guggenheim all increased their estimates for AAPL following the company's December quarter results, which reached a record-setting $78.4 billion in revenue and $17.9 billion in net profit.

Analyst Ben Schachter of Macquarie, in particular, has the highest 12-month valuation for Apple at $156. In a note to investors on Wednesday, a copy of which was provided to AppleInsider, he said that the continues growth of Apple's "Services" business should command more attention going forward.

Driven by the success of the App Store, Apple's Services business drew $7.17 billion in revenue in the company's first quarter of fiscal 2017. With 30 percent growth year over year already, Apple has said it plans to double its Services revenue over the next four years.

Schachter has been bullish on Apple's Services business, but the ambition expressed by the company's management during its quarterly earnings conference call on Tuesday exceeded even the analyst's lofty expectations. As a result, he now expects that the Services business segment will generate 25 percent of Apple's gross profits in fiscal year 2017, despite accounting for only 13 percent of the company's revenue.

Amit Daryanani of RBC Capital Markets also increased his price target on AAPL from $125 to $140. Shares of the company exceeded $125 in intraday trading on Wednesday, overing above $127 as of publication.

Thanks to a number of factors —including an anticipated "super cycle" for the rumored redesigned "iPhone 8," as well as the possibility of tax breaks for overseas cash— Daryanani wondered if Apple could manage to exceed $10.00 in earnings per share.

Guggenheim analyst Robert Cihra also increased his target for Apple from $140 to $150, declaring the company's holiday quarter should be "more than enough to scare bears and wake up investors." He cited a number of upcoming catalysts, including the anticipated "iPhone 8," more than $231 billion in overseas cash that could be repatriated, and spending on research and development that has more than doubled over the last four years.

"We see investors being paid to own the stock," Cihra wrote.

Finally, Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri did not increase his price target from $135, but called that price now a "veritable layup." In his view, share prices as high as $150 would be possible if his bullish estimates hold.

This is just the beginning of exposing your foolish & misguided "insight" on this subject.

I have been buying AAPL since 2007.

Go look up 2007 and see Apple hit $199 at the end of that year.

I made 10's of thousands on Apple stock and I still have Apple stock.

You own any stock?

:hmm:

I know financial analysts personally.

You do understand how they make money right?

analyst <> god

Man shut the fuck up

I know NBA players, does that mean that whatever they think is gospel?

You've already made yourself look like a moron in this topic. So by on it's death bed are you going to try and push it to five years from now?

Just shut up fool

I don't know if many know what apple is working on in the next few years. However, the iPhone 8 is primed to be an all time seller and profit maker for the company.

I'm interested to see what happens next. They are definitely not as innovative as they were previously. But they have a ton of cash and a big ass R and D budget.

I don't have look up shit. I been up on Apple since tech investors were predicting a Unix based OS would overtake Windows.

Now go look that up. Your advice on this topic is basically worthless.

The fact you said this validates my above statement. You truly are a clueless...now go sit your ass down for the next 1-2 years.

The future of Apple cannot rest on a device.

That's why I made the initial post.

I have seen many device companies die, Nokia, Motorola etc.....

The future is machine learning & AI

The is a talent drain happening in Apple

Personal Asistants
The Siri team left and created Viv

Autonomous vehicles:
They pivoted and said they are working on the software piece

Connected cars:
nothing

IoT:
Nothing

AR/VR:
Nothing

Someone please fill this future list out for Apple.................
