****Chrisette Michele Reportedly Will Perform At Trump's Inauguration****

Chrisette Michele will make $250G for inaugural ball: sources

Where is Chrisette Michele?

One of the more interesting subplots surrounding the inauguration has been the 2009 Grammy winner's controversial decision to sing for President Trump — a move that did not go over well with R&B fans including “The Tonight Show” bandleader Questlove, who offered to pay her not to sing in D.C.

Confidential first reported that the Long Island native would serenade The Donald —though she did not perform with Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith and 3 Doors Down at Thursday's inaugural concert, as her manager reportedly told Newsday.com that she would.

There was also no sign of Michele at Friday morning's inauguration, where TV game show contestant Jackie Evancho performed the National Anthem and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang “America the Beautiful.”

Now we're being told by sources close to the presidential weekend that Michele has been scheduled to perform at one of tonight's inaugural balls, where she'll be a little less visible. That same source tells us that despite rumors that Michele would make $750,000 for her appearance, the actual number is $250,000.

Sources told us that when Michele reached her agreement with Team Trump last week, she'd committed to doing an “R&B set” after plans to do an ensemble gospel number fell through because other singers being pursued by event organizers wouldn't take the gig.

Michele's reps have not responded to numerous requests for comment from Confidential, but Essence.com reported on Thursday that the “What You Do” singer's management team had confirmed her intent to sing for the new Prez. Michele herself posted a bizarre "open letter" on her blog where she seemed to confirm the engagement and claimed to be a “bridge” of some sort.

Michele's decision to chirp for Trump could turn out to be a costly one. Director Spike Lee announced on Thursday that he'd decided not to use her music in his upcoming Netflix series “She's Gotta Have It,” because of her commitment to the controversial 45th President.

She was also slated to perform a Thursday night show at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, N.J., but less than half an hour after we broke news of the Trump engagement, the venue announced that the concert had been canceled because of a “scheduling conflict.” A sea of former fans have taken to social media insisting that they would no longer support Michele. Her next scheduled performance is at a casino in Biloxi, Miss., on Feb. 4.

Updated: Chrisette Michele Loses Netflix Deal After Trump Performance

What’s the cost of playing Trump’s Inauguration? For Chrisette Michele, it’s a major lost opportunity involving Netflix. And that’s just the beginning.

Updated, Friday PM. Is she actually playing? Chrisette Michele’s performance slot remains uncertain, and she didn’t appear in the lineup for Thursday’s ‘Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration’. That suggests a performance at some other portion of the Inauguration, or a last-minute cancellation.

Stay tuned.

Jennifer Holliday cancelled her Trump Inauguration gig after 24 hours. Even the ‘B Street Band,’ a Bruce Springsteen cover group, canceled under extreme pressure from fans.

Chrisette Michele, a late-stage addition, decided not to back out. Now, the talented Grammy-winning artist is testing exactly what that means for her career. According to information confirmed Thursday night, director Spike Lee has removed Chrisette Michele’s song from his upcoming Netflix remake of ‘She’s Gotta Have It.”

Here’s Spike Lee’s irate Instagram blast on the matter:

“Good Morning Folks. I Wuz Sorry To Read That ‘Sistuh Girl’ Is Singin’ At DT’s Inauguration (And To Use His Fav Word-SAD),” Lee wrote on Instagram. “I Wuz Thinkin’ ’bout Using Chrisette’s Song- BLACK GIRL MAGIC In My Netflix Series SHE’S GOTTA HAVE IT…. NOT ANYMORE. And Dat’s Da Truth, Ruth.”

$750,000 paycheck?

As for the Trump performance, the gig was first disclosed on Thursday. That is, less than 24 hours before the starting bell. According to rumors, that was intentional, with multiple artists kept under wraps to avoid last-second cancellations. Sam Moore of soul legends Sam & Dave, who just completed his Trump performance on Thursday evening, may also have given similar treatment.

But despite the late-stage announcement, Michele fans were overwhelmingly vocal and irate. After disclosing the gig, rumors circulated that the singer was paid $750,000 to play the show (her manager hasn’t responded to DMN). In Chrisette Michele’s private Twitter hell, the singer was accosted for selling out, supporting a racist, and dishonoring black history.

On that last point, critics were especially irate over Michele’s use of a quotation from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to defend her decision. Here’s the statement that Michele offered, an olive branch that was quickly torched by inflamed protesters:

My heart is broken for our country, for the hopes of our children, for the fights of those who came before us.

I cry at the thought that Black History, American History might be in vain.

This country has had great moments. God has shined His light upon us.

Today, I hope that Great Moments begin in peaceful & progressive conversation. I am willing to be a bridge, and I don’t mind “These Stones”, if they allow me to be a voice for the voiceless.

I am here.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about what matters,”.

I am here, representing you, because this is what matters.

Career Suicide?
Chrisette Michele isn’t a household name, though she certainly has credibility within r&b and rap. And you’ve probably heard her singing on tracks by Jay Z, the Roots, Wale, Nas, Rick Ross, or John Legend, among others.

Now, the question is whether Michele will find herself blackballed by those collaborators in the future. Indeed, that was a pressing consideration for Broadway star Jennifer Holliday, who quickly backed out after career retribution became a serious possibility.

More as this develops.

So, Spike isn't going to use one of her songs in his movie? By the title, I thought Netflix cancelled a concert or something(which in itself seemed strange since she's not that big of a name to have her own Netflix special).

I doubt its 750k...but im sure its over 6 figures. Like I mentioned earlier....she aint getting that type of money for a show nor a feature.
So she's mainly doing it for a check....not because she a die hard fan/supporter.

A lot of folks will remember her for being the Black Woman who performed for Trump, but most will forget. The outrage is temporary. Once Superbowl weekend starts....or some other events happens...most folks will be distracted, once again, and all will be forgotten.
Agreed. I'm cool with not knowing for sure. Once shit starts flying no one will know unless they see the receipt

What's funny is a licensing deal for a song ain't that big a deal anyway, especially if Spikes shut flops. And let's not act like it can't.

Regardless, she sang today and it's over. The sky didn't fall

A licensing deal for a song is a big deal, b.
No it's not. Especially for a show on Netflix.

Very rarely you have the odd song that blows up off some show like Grays anatomy or.some shit but most licensing deals are a few grand for usage and ya never hear about it again. One song on a spike Lee Netflix series? Won't make a difference anywhere. the only significant about him cutting her off that is that he made it a point to tell everybody.

You dead ass wrong on this one playa.
How you figure? How much money you think she can get on one song being licensed on a Netflix series? If you think even more than 5k you're mistaken.

not many people's lives change from licensing one song on a series. It has happened but Waaaaay more often you get your check when it airs and never hear about it again. Definirely no where near 250k. Not even close. Even if the song turned into some big hit based on the show.

I've got licensing deals in the past. I can say without doubt that you're right. She may have topped out at about 50k at the HIGH end and at her level.. she might have saw 10k at best for a Spike project.

Spike aint paying out like that. So that jab wasn't really that big a deal.

Exactly. He was just flexing as only Spike Lee can. Same guy who did that shambles of a movie making a mockery of Chicago - so he knows what doing something unpopular is like, yet he decided to jump on her. Probably to promote his show which we don't know if it will flop anyway. He's certainly done lots of that recently. We don't even know if the shit will end up airing at all.

A lot of people considered Chiraq to be a sellout move , me included. But he thinks if it as honorable and that's another example of how people see things differently.

Of course you don't have it, cos facts and actually knowing what you're talking about has never been in any of your posts. Ever.
Now spewing bullshit, about a board you choose to visit everyday, oh you got that shit on lock.
by the way, my source totally gave me bad info. At first he was saying he saw emails with everyone's amount on it personally, and now he just sent me the article that says 250k as if he never told me he had a credible link to it before lol. I don't have a problem clearing up the misinformation

I didn't expect anything to happen to her today. I expect things like people not wanting to work with her on a new album, album sales tank, getting passed up on features, etc...unless she somehow can come up with a hot song.

gay mafia ain't forgetting shit and they pretty much run her industry

the boycott of Trump ain't for us - its gay environmental feminists and ultra liberals
Yeah, I've noticed that.

I think first we need to come to what the definition of cooning is.
Shit, some of these cats still don't know the true definition of "snitching".

Nah, bruh, not really. It can be IF the series blows ALL THE WAY up. I've had a few, and it's really not a big deal. We've had songs on video games with a payout of about 2k. My nephew (RIP) got a deal with MTV, and that one netted him about 30k or so. Shit, I made way more money just playing bass on a hit record than I did from those licensing deals put together.

If Im not mistaken, her fiancee is her manager. So, its still hers. lol

Not sure how this song was going to build a bridge between minorities and racist ass white people.
She was trying to build a bridge for herself to those trump supporters. :money::money:

He (and his friend of friend, etc........) was dead as wrong on what she was to be paid.
It's safe to say he just says whatever comes to mind to defend his position.:smh:
Lol now you're just Being petty . Clearly I.didnt pull that out of no where , as you've seen that in other blogs. I told you my source and I told you my source was wrong once I found out.

I still don't know what she got paid but people are accepting 250k as law- and that's a lot of money, but i didn't mention it as justification. She doesn't need justification to do perform there.

As.far as licensing , you just don't know what you're talking about. You hear a name like Spike Lee and Netflix and assume she just missed out on some gold mine. Two people on here who have actually licensed music to film or TV before have confirmed what I said. I've also licensed music before so I know. I don't even need a source.

But just for shits and giggles, you tell me: What do you think the ticket would be from Spike Lee for licensing a song on his show that ain't even out yet?

These fools think Spike Lee was gonna be her bug break lmao

She's already had hits with Nas, Jay, and on her own and this community she performs for swiftly calls her D List for doing something that will have ZERO effect in their lives, all on the name of some imagined stand they think they're taking lol. Oh how quickly they flip.

Bruh you were over confident that your source was 100% right. Now you doubt that the source was correct.
No one (at least not me) said Spike Lee was going to be her big break. yet she did lose out on a source of money that she didn't have to "sell her soul" for.
As far as her licensing deal. Just because it did not work out for you and the other folks. Doesn't mean it would have been the same for her.
Netflix is a media source that has 75 million viewing members and ever time someone looks at that episode (or series) with her song on it. She would have been paid.
