Official BGOL Crypto Currency Thread ★★★★★

They rejected me for the reason I stated above. Should I give it another shot? I already called the bank and told them what was up.

Right, that's kinda a generic rejection. (I got it before)
I need more info
1. Did you buy from them before?
2. When you called your bank did you tell them specifically the card was rejected for an overseas purchase and needed approval?
3. Did you ever give Changelly the 3 digit code yet? You can get it from your pending statement or when you call your bank. Ask for the numbers with a "Z" on the end

1. Nope. First time buyer.

2. I told my bank the night of the purchase that there was going to be a overseas transaction and fro indiacoin... my card was never even charged.

3.No because of what I stated above. It never even showed up on my statement because I was never charged and it doesn't even show up on my statement as a rejection

ok and you only bought $50 right?

Maybe this will help the BGOL family on how to buy ripple quickly without using kraken.

Step 1) Setup an account with coinbase.com (I notice a few people are already on this). When you use a debit/ credit card the money transfer is instant.

Step 2) Buy Bitcoin at coinbase.com which is also instant after you fund your account using your debit/ credit card.

Step 3) Instead of using kraken, I prefer using poloniex.com. At poloniex.com, you don’t need to wait for days for verification. Setting up an account is very straight forward, simple and instant. Once the account is active, you will transfer your bitcoin you have at coinbase.com to poloniex.com

Step 4) To transfer money to poloniex from coinbase, you must be login to both accounts. First at poloniex homepage, go to the “Balances” drag down menu at the top right corner and click on “Deposits and Withdrawals”. At that page you will see a long list of cryptocurrency, look for “BTC” Bitcoin line. To the far right of the screen you see “Deposit” and “Withdraw”. Click on Deposit. Once you click on “Deposit” you will see a “Bitcoin Deposit Address”. Copy that address. Now go to your coinbase account and at the left side of the screen click “Send/ Requests” tab. There paste the “Bitcoin Deposit Address” where it says “Recipient”. Below that you will put how much Bitcoin you want to transfer to poloniex. Now just click on the blue tab “Send Funds”.

Step 5) Go back to poloniex, but now at the “Balances” drag down menu click “History”. Here is where you see the money transfer from your coinbase account to your poloniex account. This takes roughly 5-10 minutes, sometimes faster.

Step 6) Now you have money at cryptocurrency exchange “Poloniex” and you will be able to buy any ALT coin you want. To make a purchase, click on the “Exchange” tab at the top left hand of the screen. Once there, go to the “Markets” panel at the right side of the screen and type “XRP” for ripple. After you do that, scroll down, and on the left side you see “Buy XRP”. Don’t touch the “Price BTC” field, just type in the amount of Ripple you want to buy in the “Amount XRP” field. It does the calculation for you in the bottom where it says “Total BTC”.

Step 7) After you make your purchase, go back to the “Balances” drag down menu and click “Deposit and Withdrawals”. Scroll all the way down to XRP and your newly purchase ripple is here. Now you can keep it here or you can make a withdraw to your ripple wallet.

I have not found a ripple wallet that I like yet, so my steps ends here.

Some helpful tips

I recommend on creating a new email address just for your cryptocurrency activities only.

I also recommend making a difficult password for each of three accounts (new email account, coinbase account and your poloniex account) you have associated with cryptocurrency (this should already be a given). If you need help on doing that these two websites should give you some help to test the strength of your password

https://howsecureismypassword.net/ and http://www.passwordmeter.com/

BTW poloniex does not work in the state of New York, due to the Bitcoin license law. The alternative website will be https://bittrex.com/

Now my perfect lurking record is finally over.
easy as pie

That's all they would let me buy because it was my first time. But like I said they never charged me and said the transaction failed in my history

Try again....and again and again
Make sure you put the correct wallet address too
Also have changelly call you. If needed

How long does it take for your credit card/debit card to get verified on coinbase? I just went through the process and now I am waiting on them to charge my account with the $1- $1.25 on my CC so that I can verify on their website...

Maybe because it is the weekend but just trying to see how long it took. thanks

Instantly my bank sent me three text messages..

Don't forget Monday is a holiday

This has been a headache. I got credit card verified on coinbase two days ago but the limit is $100.I bought about $120 of Bitcoins. I then transferred $120 of Bitcoins to krakken but its still pending after 20 min. I also linked a bank account to coinbase and purchased 1100 of bitcoins but it takes 10 business days. This sucks because I wont get in before the 17th and bitcoin seems to be losing value by the hr.

this takes about an hour when using coinbase --> kraken

when I did coinmama* --> kraken it took about 30-40 minutes

coinmama is just as easy to setup/use as coinbase and you can have a limit of $150

*edit*

one dude posted a link of places to buy/sell/exchange bitcoins and coinmama received a score of only C+ but it never specified why...this link I'm posting graded it an A and goes into detail about the sites they graded...

https://99bitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-debit-card/

I used the service and went into detail about it a page or two back...it accomplished what I wanted which was a quick and easy way to buy bitcoins using a cc w/o the hassle of doing the extra verification and providing photos/copies of anything...that being said read up on it more until you're comfortable using it

So at best i'd be signing up at multiple traders to get another $100.

if you choose to do so...I've limited myself to just coinbase and coinmama...changelly didn't work for me...CEX.io doesn't work in my state and another site (bitstamp) supposedly took cc purchases in the review I read but when I joined they were no longer accepting cc purchases

GREAT POST!!!
I have been trying to buy through Kraken for over a week without success. It took me 15 minutes to buy it your way. The only thing that sucks is it only let me do $100 on Coinbase. Is there a way to do more at a time?

Major props

The Fraud dept at my credit union locked my card today when I did the Coinbase transaction. After I called and verified, they unlocked it and I was able to load money.

I don't think you want it all in one Coin Exchange
cause if it explodes you won't be able to pull more than a million a year out

I was able to do it through coinbase. Got a automated call and let them knew it was me, tried again and was approved

In CoinMama where is the equivalent to “Send/ Requests” tab in Coinbase?
I am trying to purchase the ripple through their interface

...when you place your order have your bitcoin wallet/address ready cuz you'll have to provide it for them to send it...you are then sent a text to confirm your phone # and 2 emails (1 to confirm your email address...the other to confirm your bitcoin wallet/address)...took about 30-40 minutes for it to show up in kraken then converted it to XRP as usual...

Okay, so I basically have to wait for them to process the $150 I added to my account before I can see the option to buy XRP?
