Official BGOL Crypto Currency Thread ★★★★★

Yea I'm using Changelly. I looked in my history and it says "awaiting payment" so we will see. Gonna get some more as soon as the first round clears.

ya it says that but there are no pending charges on my card...so idk...it's just stuck there

The Rep said the same thing over the phone...fuck I need to get in on this before the 17th. Might get a few more in before the 17th just to lock in the price.

I'm looking up info on circle and coinmama...two reputable sites on the level of coinbase for purchasing bitcoins via credit card...need to see what limits they have tho and what they require...I heard the drawback for coinmama is they charge a much higher fee for using a cc...I'll look it up tomorrow tho...brains are tired...don't want to rush into it like I did w/ changelly...that shit frustrated the hell outta me

Only tax if any by law at the moment is capital gains and that's max 15% if you hold it for longer than a year.
so this time next year if it do what it do we getting taxed maximum 15% + whatever your state does.

aside from that i adjusted how many ripple i bought based on the conservative numbers instead of the peak performance numbers So I'm good.
Only thing is I might keep buying more and more because it's not the 17th
after that I want to make sure I don't have to do shit.

Man, I just set up a Kraken account with Tier 3 pending. I tried coinbase like LBO recommended by my credit card got banned for 24 hrs because I didn't enter the EXACT address on the card.
I mean it has to be exact, no periods or putting the address on one line instead of two. I've been trying to find other places to buy bitcoins so I can buy some ripples but it all seems fishy.
The closest I came to pulling the trigger was on paxful.com. I was in escrow with some cat in Vietnam for 1.2 bitcoins for over a G.
Shit seemed janky. :smh:

Where's a good place to buy bitcoins with close to 1:1 exchange?

Just wait it out man you got till the 17th. It's way quicker. I don't trust exchanges with cats, I was going to do localbitcoins, which you can do but them dudes want all the information that these financial institutions want in order to buy bitcoins from them
and as backwards as that thinking may be, I'd rather submit some I.D. to some shit that might be held accountable than to some cat on the internet for his own personal files and shit lol

wait it out, then try again and be extra and you'll be buying up some tomorrow

I feel you, but won't the 17th be too late? Monday is MLK day so all institutions will be down until the 17th. Don't we want to get our ripples bought before the 17th?

Do it Sunday then. And that's my own personal opinion by all means you can buy it after the 17th. I have no information about what it's going to do on opening day etc etc. Just feel like it's going to go up once it is widely known and the time to get in is now.
This is the ground floor everybody wishes they would have been on. just my own opinion you can buy after the 17th for sure.

What was your exchange rate for the Bitcoins you bought?

What was your exchange rate for the Bitcoins you bought?

the actual market price. the fees were small, not even dollars
that's just extra on top of what you want to get. so if you trying to buy 20 dollars worth of bitcoin you get 20 dollars worth plus coinbase charges 40 cents or something

Cool. I'll just wait until my 24 hr ban is over then I'll try coinbase again to buy.
Because the other exchanges I saw out there was .04-.08 to 1. :smh:

using an actual bitcoin ATM could also be an option for some of you...if they have any in your vicinity

ya still no luck w/ changelly...I called my cc company told them I was going to make a purchase and that they used indacoin to process payments...they said it should go thru...but the shit still won't process
Bro, Im using coinbase and kraken only, and between the two, i can do everything...

Why do u need changelly?

bcuz I'm using a cc so my purchases are limited...using changelly (I'm also considering coinmama) will allow me to circumvent that limitation...I'm not doing the upper tier ID requirements until I see this thing move...just way too much info for me to provide so early on

I can dig it...(fyi - coinbase will up your cc limit after i think $850 or some shit like that)

ya I'll just keep plugging away and buying some here/there...but I only plan on going upper tier for the sake of making withdrawals...if this starts to move even a little then I'll do the whole verification thing

Whats the point of a ripple wallet? As a backup plan?
Mine are sitting in poloniex.
What are some good offline wallets?

ya backup/emergency plan (you know how some ppl like to have cash on hand in a safe @ home for a you-never-know moment) or security...kraken/poloniex even coinbase for lack of a better analogy function as banks in that they kind of store your cryptocurrency using mobile/online wallets...where security comes into play is I've read about sites that offered similar services that were hacked...abandoned etc resulting in loss of currency...some of these sites were pretty reputable @ the time too...I feel comfortable leaving ripple in kraken/poloniex but I would like to have some on a desktop wallet as well as a backup plan/just in case type thing...still developing a game plan tho for the safest way to store it offline...still rereading info on here and looking up shit online...but this is the best info I've seen to date...

*edit*

to keep it offline...

Buy a new computer meant to be offline forever (don't have to buy a new computer, just format to zero an old one (very cheap) and make sure your USB key is not infected. The Ripple Client doesn't need a big up-to-date computer), turn it on far away from any kind of network connection, download the client (or build it) in another safe computer, disconnect from the internet, copy it to a brand new portable media (i.e. USB) and copy it again to the new computer.

I was thinking that due to the increased interest in Ripple and its low cost of entry that if the banks and other countries see Ripple as a viable and successful coin they will tank the market.

Although it's cheap as hell to by massive amounts of Ripple, these greedy bastards never want to share the wealth.

They will create false narratives and spread bad news to tank the value of the coin even lower which will force those who invested large amounts to bail.

This happened with that Facebook IPO. Closing day that shit was a failure and the narrative all IPO was that it was overvalued.

Then when people panicked a few players bought up the shares for the low and now look at it.

I'm keeping my skin in the game until the coin is 100% useless. The more I read the more confident I am that it will gain value.

In a way I actually hope it tanks for that very reason. That's partially why with this, the emphasis needs to be that this is something to be viewed as a long term investment. Even a year or two would be too short a timeframe to truly gauge whether or not this will be worthwhile.

I'm looking up info on...coinmama...

coinmama is cool...easy to use...I signed up...I entered regular info...name/address/phone #...I included my driver's license # and exp. date (I didn't upload a pic of it although that is an option that allows you to purchase more)...made a max purchase of $150 worth of bitcoins (they charged me a $10 transaction fee which is high but I read about that beforehand...it's usually 5% of the total transaction or $10 whichever is higher )...when you place your order have your bitcoin wallet/address ready cuz you'll have to provide it for them to send it...you are then sent a text to confirm your phone # and 2 emails (1 to confirm your email address...the other to confirm your bitcoin wallet/address)...took about 30-40 minutes for it to show up in kraken then converted it to XRP as usual...I was limited to a purchase of $150 since I didn't upload my ID...not sure if this is a daily limit or an increment limit...w/ ID upload you have a daily purchase limit of $10000 ($5000 if using a cc)...so I'm wondering if someone w/o an ID can still have that limit but forced to do so in increments of $150 purchases which would cost you a lot more w/ the transaction fees...anyway I don't want that much...just musing...I'm @ 40k right now tryna get to 100k hopefully...I'll find out more about that $150 limit...even if that's a daily limit I can work w/ that...long story short...it's a fast/easy/reputable way to pick up a few bitcoins w/o having to give up too much info...also they offer bitcoin packages but you don't have to buy them...there's a slider below that lets you enter how much USD you want to spend...hope this helps

*edit*

$150 is a one-time purchase only w/o uploading ID :(

I'm looking up info on circle...

...where security comes into play is I've read about sites that offered similar services that were hacked...abandoned etc...some of these sites were pretty reputable @ the time too...

case in point circle abandoned part of their business model and no longer allows the buying/selling of bitcoins as of last month

Circle removes ability to buy and sell Bitcoin as it doubles down on mobile payments

https://techcrunch.com/2016/12/07/c...itcoin-as-it-doubles-down-on-mobile-payments/

just posting this to say just keep abreast of any news involving these sites that we're using to hold our XRP...in most cases they'll give their customers a timely warning to move their cryptocurrency elsewhere in other instances they just fold w/ very little to no caution
