Netflix: Luke Cage Season 2 (Discussion Thread) - Spoilers Approved (Update Cancelled!!)

I liked the first guy. Not the 2nd one

Yup, Nobody liked Diamondback. Or Shades for that matter.

But even when you look at Cottonmouth, Ali was great in the role, but where was that storyline going in the long run? He seemed to be a man without a plan.

Anyway, im still glad they made the show. Just alot of improvement needed.

Just finished the show! Stopped watching it because I was so pissed they killed cottonmouth like that. But was bor d and watched the rest last night.

Wanted to finally dropped in the thread to get a consensus of the what what.

Wasn't perfect but was DAMN good...DAMN good

the music/soundtrack>>>>

the beautiful TALENTED Black women>>>>

Cottonmouth was almost TOO good and I feel the script the setting the scenes just were so perfectly tailored to him it almost HURT the show but I think if we DID NOT connect with Cotonmouth like that and then have him gone? The show wouldn't have RESONATED like it did.

And the rise Black Mariah>>>>

you can almost go BACK and nitpick but the actor they got playing Diamondback was outstanding

Shades was SUPPOSED to be HATED by the audience.

and I think the brother who played Luke Cage is NOT getting enough credit, that was NOT an easy role to play AT ALL.

Still didn't like how she so EASILY let him go to the Night Nurse...

Thank you for pointing this out. I found it kinda awkward how easily Misty seemed to be with that. Also, I thought Clarie based on the Dare Devil stuff was staying away from relationships with Super humans?

Wasn't perfect certainly! But was overrall good. Can't complain about the acting either. Everyone did their thing more or less!

I'm not sure I felt or agreeed with the Son of A. Actor that played Shades. He was coming across as a sorta retarded person trying to be a criminal smooth talker to me.

Diamondback...hmm! I'll have to rewatch to try and understand his motivations more. The only thing I really got was his beef/jealousy of Luke. I'm not sure how all of that connected with big boss crime life.

Bad guy rankings for me so far on the shows

1) Fisk
2) Cotton Mouth
3) Diamonback
4) I'm not putting Purpleman on this list.

Overrall, not bad for a season 1 show. Looking forward to season 2

Its like we watched completely different shows.

Though we do agree on the beautiful women part...

Its like we watched completely different shows.

And that is what is great...you KNOW a show is TRULY bad when EVERYONE agrees its trash.

Everything isn't for Everyone.

There are very few UNIVERSALLY agreed upon pieces of art.

I know so many people who HATED Breaking Bad, The Wire Sopranos The Shield etc

that doesn't mean they are wrong...or the majority is right.

But I would argue that people with different backgrounds experience and education can appreciate things differently...and that is just LIFE no negative or positive.

However that is why I feel REAL legitimate criticism is dead because of social media...because experienced smart educated opinion gets LOST with trolls and just dumb sh*t

but it has also helped so called regular people formulate much more cohesive arguments too.

OK my rant is over.

I liked every Netflix Marvel series for different reasons.

Ill give a much more throughout review later this afternoon. Quick hits

Overrall good

Most actors did their thing

Show lost something by killing of cottonmouth

Show was easily 2-4 episodes too long

The soundtrack speaks for itself

The salute by Method man and the Friday fight scene gave me a chuckle

The Clarie/Misty/Luke triangle resolved awkwardly

Like the Turk Continuty stuff. But also highlights their is some awkwardness with the Netflix universe and Cinematic universe. How can you call out powered beings and not mention the Avengers? It's like the Hells Kitchener/Harlem Superheroes are the only people that exist.

I'm not a fan of the Super Bullets. Not sure if it's comic lore. But it makes it wayyyy to easy to take Luke Cage out by justqbout anyone.

you aint say nothing wrong.

But they DO mention the Avengers just never SPECIFICALLY by name, all the time.

It's a far departure from when AOS 1st came out and they mentioned specific names like Thor all the time. Now it's just passing references to the "group that saved the world etc"

As much as we may or may not like it. These shows are best, imo when they are self-contained and aren't reliant on what the cinematic universe is doing. It gives the writers and producers etc much more leeway to tell their story.

I don't know...I disagree

I like that it is entirely possible and to some extent has been done that...

Peggy Carter Agents of SHIELD Luke Cage Daredevill Iron Fist Jessica Jones Spiderman and Ant Man can all connect

that is the ROOT the FOUNDATION of Comic Books PERIOD...

that connective tissue...

one of the BEST parts of Batman vs Superman that NO ONE criticized

was the BRILLIANT idea to connect the last film with Batman personally witnessing the wreckage of Superman...

IMAGINE if you had Kara and the Superman of the WB somehow WITNESS that fight?

And the effect it would have on the TV Superman (& Supergirl) to see a different version of HIMSELF do something he would presumably assume he could and would never do?.

Like i said I love that all the worlds are connected and it REWARDS fans and ENCOURAGES them to consume everything...

and it isn't THAT Marvel Disney has been cross promoting properties for DECADES.

Hell Doc McStuffins just met Winnie the Pooh.

I like this show but watching it a second time I seeb it was slow and the special effects were cheap.

Diamond back was more of " comic book " villain than Cottonmouth. I can see why non comic book readers didn't like him.

Cuz, trust me, the criticism i have for this show is legitimate. Im not bashing it, it was ok.

When i talk about me and you watching different shows, im talking about points you made that i didnt see at all. For example, you say the audience was supposed to hate Shades... We werent supposed to hate his acting and the writing for the character. That aint the same at all.

the netflix shows acknowledge and mentions the avengers. but in typical new york fashion , we don't give a fuck about it , if its not pertaining to our personal lives at that moment. that's what i like about it. the kid selling bootlegged footage of the avengers fights on the streets. dudes knows super powered beings exist, we just aint got no time for that.

You know what.... after thinking about it. He should have been cast as Carter in 24: Legacy.

I've got back and started thinking about who would have been the perfect African American actor to play Eric Carter because Ol' boy isn't doing it for me right now.

Oh come on don't kill the little broker he doing GOOD!

Not enough torture for 24 but its good so far, its moving fast and its crazy...

But yes NOW that you said this?

Ali would have KILLED that role,

but I wonder if they would have added the fact that he was ACTUALLY Muslim into the character?
