Netflix: Luke Cage Season 2 (Discussion Thread) - Spoilers Approved (Update Cancelled!!)

Mahershala Ali deserves an Emmy for his portrayal of Cottonmouth. He killed that role. Diamondback was cool, but the show lost a little energy when Cottonmouth was killed off. I didn't notice that Mike Colter was just an ok actor until Ali and Frankie Faison(underrated actor) weren't around. He plays well off of good established veteran actors. Can't wait for season 2.....whenever that is. I guess I'll catch up on DD and Jessica Jones in the meantime.

Just like Daredevil & Jessica Jones before it, Marvel's Luke Cage premiered to rave reviews last week and even managed to shut down Netflix for a few hours on its first day, which is just what the Power Man ordered.

The show's soundtrack has been receiving a lot of love this past week and it looks like Marvel knew the score was straight fire going in because they've just announced an Original Soundtrack Album for Season 1, which is the fastest they've ever released a soundtrack album for one of their Netflix series. It will contain fifty-one original compositions from Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammed and will also contain tracks from Raphael Saadiq, Faith Evans, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, and Charles Bradley. The Method Man track "Bulletproof Love," which was released as a single last week, will also be featured.

It goes on sale tomorrow, so be sure to check into iTunes or Amazon at midnight for the link.

You a lil girl..............:hmm:

Come at me bruh. You KNOW I'm right on this one.

Diamond: And you speak to me as if you're not actually in the presence of death.
EMXaTCy.jpg

Ain't no way you heard that shit and didn't get spooked.
Ain't no way you heard that shit and didn't get chills.

Along with the fact that the Judas bullets are the only way to bring him down... sold by a black man to the police.

MESSAGE

CAewuKYWMAIlBfk.jpg

cottonmouth was good, but he was too hooked on the gansta shit, he was still wanted his corners so to speak I saw the wire in this show for real.
Mariah saw the light, she was ok with the gansta shit to get things popping, but saw real power was in politics. However no she's out to the political game to a certain extent I think she will go further as a ganster than cottonmouth ever would have because she can see the bigger picture and knows when to cut her losses (she advised cotton to just leave the luke cage alone)

Can't.
Wait.

Ok I got one single question...

Did they use the n word too much?

I don't like it either. But in this case, no. When you look at it as a whole, it could have been a lot worse on the N-bombs. However that line with Diamondback about being the brother...hell, if anyone sold a racial slur it was in that moment. (I know it's bad but the line was sooo good)

What???

Never gonna be another Mr. Stokes

Writer's challenge:

Cheo gets Marvel to offer a contract based on a spec script....

How would YOU bring Cottonmouth back from the dead?

Flashbacks. Momma Mabel don't deserve her own show, but these flashbacks could get a couple of episodes or be split up. And it doesn't have to be all when they were kids. Flesh it out.

Interesting write up on the show...I wonder what are bgol's thoughts.

Dude wants too much. The show has elements that are deep, (I mentioned the biblical elements earlier among some), but I think this Black man writer wants LC to be more than what it is. Nothing wrong with that, but you can't hit people over the head. LC is not going to be the entertainment blunt answer to BLM and police shootings. It can't be. The message has to delivered to those that aren't Black for them to understand it and appreciate it and I think LC did a good job of that. And some of the points in the article, just because a Black person does or says something in the show that's not right, doesn't make it a contradictory matter in real life. Dude is focusing to much on the delivery in that instance rather than the message itself. A script without character names don't care who say the words.

I am disappointed in Diamond Back, they should have used a actor with more stage presence.

Did we watch the same show?

Mahershala Ali deserves an Emmy for his portrayal of Cottonmouth. He killed that role. Diamondback was cool, but the show lost a little energy when Cottonmouth was killed off. I didn't notice that Mike Colter was just an ok actor until Ali and Frankie Faison(underrated actor) weren't around. He plays well off of good established veteran actors. Can't wait for season 2.....whenever that is. I guess I'll catch up on DD and Jessica Jones in the meantime.

Hell yes. And I think Mike Colter is great at Luke Cage. If this was what Quintin wanted, and was full out blaxpoitation - he would not be the guy. But for someone who is suppose to be on the ground, in the streets, a lover, not wanting to fight - Colter does it well. Dude is smooth with it, which I think is female fan service, but roll with it.

Just finished binge watching the entire season today. Not bad. I don't follow the comics so don't know much about the character or villains. But that Diamondback mufucka annoyed the hell outta me. Basically a whiny ass faggot with daddy issues! Stupid!

Line it is Drawn: Luke Cage Takes Over Classic Comic Covers!
35 mins ago by Brian Cronin in Comics, Comic News Comment (1)

line10-7-display.jpg

Welcome to Line it is Drawn, our weekly gallery of amazing art by our great collection of artistic talent, all working from your suggestions!

So every week, I ask a question here. You reply to it on the CSBG Twitter page (just write @csbg with your reply), our artists will each pick one of your suggestions and I will post their drawings based on your suggestions here every week. So every week you will have a new question and you will see the choices picked from the previous week.

To qualify, you have to be following @csbg when you reply – so go follow us and then give your answer to the following question/challenge (All suggestions due by 6pm Pacific Friday).

The topic for the next Line is…

In honor of DC’s recent redesigned Hanna-Barbera comics, re-design and/or update a Saturday morning cartoon! Either just name a cartoon and our artists will do the update/redesign or come up with an idea for an update/redesign yourself and share it in the tweet!

Read on for the drawings that came about courtesy of the last question/challenge!

Luke Cage takes over! In honor of his new Netflix series, the theme is comic book cover homages with Luke Cage taking the place of the original character on the cover (perhaps with Jessica Jones, Misty Knight or Iron Fist occasionally involved, as well)

Enjoy!

I’ll put them in alphabetical order based on the name of the Twitter user who made the suggestion (one exception this week)

Great work, everyone!

Okay, people, go tweet us some suggestions for Re-Designed Saturday Morning Cartoons week!

and Oh.. I'm givin' cacs that work right now over the cover with Luke mashin' Donald Trump.....lolololololol

Diamondback is the same guy named Dunn Purnsley from HBO: Boardwalk Empire.

He caught a savage beat down in jail from Chalky White's buddies. :D

He did a decent job on Luke Cage too, imo.

At the very least... he knows how to take a good ass-whuppin, on camera.:D

Let's see if marvel capitalizes on Luke's popularity and gives him and/or his vilians the promotion they deserve ; new series with a real artist (not that samurai Jack bs ) and a starring role in one of their big cross overs. But I'm not holding my breath

nice...don't get the need for ppl trying to insist cacs or whoever the fuck is criticizing...they're clearly in the minority
what's interesting is that the writer is not taking into account that these other shows been out for at least a yr, a few of them months i.e. stranger things, and luke cage is in the 5 top with in the week of its release.

damn...ep 9...diamondback insisting on not playing w/ these niggas lmaooo

8.5/10

.5 for cotton mouth- no powers- don't like the molestation angle
. 5 For the penetrating bullet- too early
.5 star for Stryker

I miss the cottonmouth character but diamondback dropping them quotables tho

The last few years Cage has been pretty prominent in the comics.

LOL I'm sure Mariah didn't like the Molestation angle either
Cotton mouth not having powers is what made it fucking dope.
was .5 deducted from Daredevil for ol boy not having any powers?

Season 1 I would give 8/10 season 2 9/10

Daredevil never had powers other than his sonar abilities. Which he has and so do few blind people out in the real world most notably a black kid from London I believe. So no, and cottonmouth does have powers in comics.
