Loved the blackness, the name dropping, the way they wanted to portray Harlem, the music, the gorgeous cast of women, especially Rosario!
But this show was cheesy. Terrible writing.
BGOL usually can spot bad writing, but not this time.
I saw cats rip shows and movies to shreds over bad writing on this board. But can't see it in this show?

Nah...I can't front the first episode I was underwhelmed and didn't like the dialogue the way lines were delivered and pacing but then once completed I could see they were creating their own universe...
On some david mamet...the line delivery pacing acting references etc...

Imagine a room mostly filled with green material covering the entire walls & floor.
And the only part of the set that is actually ‘built’ is the rooftop where everyone is standing.
However, the entire building across the street, the city skyline… and the whole street below… and all the vehicles are fake.
The actor is pushed off the constructed set & sent sprawling out into the vast green area.
However, the guy is only falls down about 3-4 feet, if even that much.
The car he lands on.... is created with CGI / Visual FX.
Everything is composited together.
Like 'layers' in Photoshop.
This same technique has been used in Game of Thrones.
Here is the actual footage of what... 'the fall'... would look like, before the green screen is applied....
Zombies Fall Off a Cliff… (skip to the 3:15 mark)
Theon Kills Myranda…. (skip to the 1:10 mark)
Now put these 2 scenes together…. And it gives you the HEIGHT of the FALL… plus the IMPACT of the LANDING (which is aided with the right sound effects, like glass breaking)…
And you get THIS……

Rewinded that scene a few times...

Special fx sound editors costume extras make up set design location cameras interns pages lighting food service etc...

The way they do it is origniesque. We got a dope ass season that progressed while filling in the origins for major players.
Mariah is bout to be a fucking MENACE and I for one and HAPPY a black woman can run this shit and be just as bad ass as ANY villain out there.
