promptly blown by the bullpen. They are going to absolutely CRUCIFY this dude in the postgame and I've got to find a link to watch whatever explanation that he gives.

Francoeur breaks up bid for combined perfect game
MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Marlins' Jeff Francouer lined a single to left field with two outs in the eighth inning against Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joe Blanton on Saturday night, ending a bid for a perfect game.

Rich Hill threw seven perfect innings, striking out nine and throwing 89 pitches. With the Dodgers ahead 5-0, first-year manager Dave Roberts replaced the 35-year-old left-hander with Joe Blanton at the start of the eighth inning.

Blanton stuck out Christian Yelich and retired Marcell Ozuna on a groundout before the clean hit by Francouer.

Left fielder Yasiel Puig, brought back from the minors on Sept. 2, made an outstanding diving catch for the final out of the seventh to preserve the bid. Martin Prado hit a drive to deep left-center, and Puig sprinted and as he approached the warning track dived toward the wall to make the catch 356 feet from the plate.

Hill entered a combined 11-3 with a 1.94 ERA in 16 starts this year for Oakland the Dodgers, who acquired him on Aug. 1. He has just three complete games in 91 big league starts over 12 seasons.

Hill spent time on the disabled list this year with groin and blister injuries.

Peace,

5-0 lead late in the game, a perfect game from your starter with only 89 pitches, he's only got 6 outs left, you've got to let him finish.

Yeah. This is one of the most bewildering decisions I've ever seen a manager make.

My fantasy world series team was facing Hill. Dude would have almost scored 75 points for a comple perfect game, no-hit shutout. So I side with the manager of course.

id take myself out every time i struggled then. 3rd inning 4th inning whatever
you take me out and im bout to throw the best game of my entire life...literally... fuck you

AND Puig is balling again

Dude is a headcase. He came into the league beasting. But now, he does not always play up to his ability. He should be a 25/25 guy. I hope that he can finish developing into a HOF player. I had him in a keeper league...but I had to cut him.

He balling now but yea he has an enigmatic personality

Isnt Blanton still a starter ? When they move him to middle relief ?

Assuming the Dodgers make the playoff, Roberts (Manager) was probably thinking about Hill's blister, and him not re-aggravating the injury so that he is available for the playoffs. I might have let him finish the game since "No hitters" are hard to come by.

the pitch count is the key.... 89 pitches isn't a lot.. that's insane to pull a guy like that

im like ok i understand, dude probably threw a lot of pitches

but nigga he only threw 89 fucking pitches

the manager was on some fuck boy shit

He's a consistent idiot

"
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it was longest perfect-game bid in the modern era (since 1900) by a pitcher who was removed from the game.

It also was not the first time Roberts has interrupted potential history this season.

Ross Stripling was removed from a potential no-hitter during his April 8 debut. Stripling pitched 7 1/3 no-hit innings before Chris Hatcher gave up a hit in the eighth."

Roberts got spooked by the deep warning track out, the thing is you've got a five-run lead, at the very least you let him lose his perfect game before you pull him.

Any elementary baseball fan knows that. Bad move. Really bad move.

Nah it was fear of a blister which would possibly keep him outta the playoffs. I still would not have pulled him. I have seen pitchers with blood on the baseball due to blisters. Dude would have sucked it up for a chance at history. Now he has to make history on another way....for not finishing the game.

IMO you don't deny a player that one opportunity. Its a once in a lifetime opportunity. That type coaching will not endear future Dodger players to stay put if they have a chance to leave. That's called over coaching. Then to lose that game. :smh:
