Music Debate: Other than Redman, which rapper had 3 classic in a row starting out?

Nas had 3 in a row until I Am... was bootlegged, which was a double album. I remember hearing the original in '98.

I wish Nas would re-release the album as a Special Edition or at least put out the original tracklist so his fans could hear how it was intended to be heard.
I am is the 3rd nas album

Heard this on bomani...

not just sales!!!

I'll agree to disagree - I know J felt it was too Puffed out -but IMO - 6 maybe 7 solid records out of 14 is good -especially if you go back and listen to Reasonable Doubt

14. "You Must Love Me"

THAT is a PERFECT album

but even SEVEN CLASSIC UNDISPUTED HITS isn't classic status...

wait a minute you know what?

let me think on something...

Cause Illmatic is the standard right?

OK...

while it is a GREAT GREAT GREAT song and especially in context is a classic addition.

Represent as a song on its on?

could we argue is 'skippable"?

Blasphemy I know...

but should a CLASSIC album have ANY skippable songs on it?

My favorite rapper of all time. He had such a catalog of albums up until Fish Scales. The Wizardry album was dope too but wouldn't put it up there.

I think the first three were classics? Your opinion?
yes, they were classics, and i still listen to them till this day. Once i heard Wisdom Body on Raekwons OB4CL, Ghost officially became my favorite rapper of all time.

IMO Illmatic might be the perfect hiphop album - even with Represent....
for me a classic album is taken as a whole even with the skippable songs - Beasties RunDMC even PE had skippables on the albums
The Great Adventures of Slick Rick had 1 or 2...
In truth I can only remember listening to maybe 8 perfect albums where no song was skippable, none were rap (Miles Davis, D'angelo, Maxwell, Jill Scott, Micheal Jackson)

I don't think Redman had three classics

I can only think of Outkast, Public Enemy and EPMD

Ice Cube if you count, Straight Outta Compton

It bothers me when revisionists try to label "It was written" as a classic smh.

But to the question, I too, heard this episode of Evening Jones, and I wonder if artists who started out in a group can be considered.

If so, Cubes first album would be Straight Outta Compton, and he'd definitely be on the list, as would Dre.

I've never heard an entire Too Short album, that's interesting that people say he belongs on this list.

Graduation was not a classic, in my opinion.

Kendrick might be the next to joint the list, though.

Nothing classic about any of these albums

I fuck with so many young broads I have a closet full of skinny jeans that came as gifts...I Cant wear that though:lol:

Its a classic in this era. Cant stop ocean tides, the moon does what it wants. I have been bamboozled by young stank:lol:

Get you a hot lil 24 year old & turn on Drake. And take a ride. Drake albums is like meshing Angela Winbush & Tribe Called Quest. It aint tradtional flame throwing hip hop. More like Kanye with more singing. Drake could have never got off if it wasnt for College Drop out.

Good company(female) & some sugar cookies(dozier) The nigga Drake is dope.

Opionions are like...I dont agree the Redman first 3 was classic. 1 most def & the 3rd joint muddy. I also think Predator by Cube just makes the cut because of all the social commentary.

Kanye first 3 joints All classics. Havent read back through the thread to see if someone mentioned him.
