There isn't just one way this goes down. Some are bullies with guns, absolutely. In the Alton video there is no fear, the cop was using the gun as a containment/compliance tool. (stop moving or I'll shoot).

I've seen videos though where the officers have the shaky voices and are jumpy and on edge. My point isn't so much that they fear us, but that we see their fuck ups in action. Everyone has this idea of cool, detached, professional officers, Clint Eastwood types, tough but fair, who are calm and keep their heads. Mostly because we would get the story they made up in the aftermath once things calm down and they have their story straight. And I'm not speaking so much about black folks, I'm speaking of white people having this idea. They actually think their experiences with law enforcement is the norm for black folks as well. Black people telling tales of mistreatment and unjust killings were dismissed as we are seen as liars and criminals by default. Now it's on video. There are still people who will try to justify it, but it's getting harder and harder to dispute.

We have to go after those people in the institutions that protect cops. That's who we fight agaisnt. The DA's, the Unions, the politicians etc Those are the persons that need to be taken out first.

Granted I would not have been so calm, but part of the reason for the "strong black woman" stereotype is that we try not to break down in front of the people trying to break us. That doesn't mean we don't feel pain, but showing weakness is often entertainment for people, just blood in the water for sharks. It doesn't mean we don't let it all out later when in a safe space in the company of our sisters, family and people who actually give a damn. Smh.

I think people are confusing trigger-happy with scared. These guys want to use their guns. Considering there is no penalty for ill-advised use, there is no incentive for them NOT to use them either.

Even when they pull you over and run tags, the info on cop comp shows the registered owner of vehicle has a chl. So them not knowin is bs. They don't even need your id, just a name and the pic shows up.

Pull them over, run tags to see if car has infractions on it and to get an idea of who and what might be in car. Then approach.
