E3 2016 | Electronic Entertainment Expo

Oh Sony has this round for sure. Microsoft lost their fucking minds at the beginning and won't recover from that. They need to MIB mindwipe everyone.
Death Stranding is definitely 3 years. I'll give GOW and Spidey next holiday. Days Gone after that maybe. Detroit and Death Stranding gonna be a while with Crash. The rest were multi platform.
Did you disappear for a while?
That sounds about right. Xbox had a better conference last year showing Gears, Tomb Raider, and Crackdown. Just a promise of what you can expect goes a long way. MS have quality studios that they don't even use.

E3 2016: Gears of War 4's Horde mode only requires Host to own maps for all to play

The Coalition’s Rod Fergusson passed by our booth this afternoon to talk about Gears of War 4, and during our interview with him, he spoke some more about some features of Horde mode.

One feature Fergusson mentioned was the fact that not all players need to own a particular map in order to enjoy it. In Gears of War 4, only the host will need to own a particular map in order to it to be played. That means players will be able to join a match with their friends, or other players, and enjoy a particular Horde map without having to actually own. This allows them to check out a particular map, possibly fall in love with it, and then decide whether or not they want to purchase it for themselves in order to continue enjoying.

In previous Gears of War games, all players would need to own Horde maps in order to play them. This would cause a divide in the Gears community as those who haven’t purchased a particular DLC pack would only be able to play Horde maps that came shipped with the game.

PlayStation dismisses VR quality concerns and explains Neo absence

Every demo of PlayStation VR has been conducted on an everyday PS4, Sony confirms.

The platform holder has dismissed concerns that the PS4 is not capable of running a high quality VR experience, and that the Neo - Sony's upcoming improved PS4 system – would be needed to run VR at a decent level.

Speaking of which, global head of marketing and sales Jim Ryan has explained why Neo wasn’t at Sony’s E3 press conference. He said the company has a ‘pure story’ to tell about software, and wanted to take its time to announce Neo correctly.

“We had such a strong and, I’d say, pure story about games,” he said. “You are not alone in making the comment - and I think it is a legitimate comment - about only just getting going on the games side of things on PS4. I think that needed to be addressed and by focusing exclusively on the games last night, hopefully we have laid that to bogey to rest.

“We did disclose some high level principles in that FT piece for the thing we call codename Neo. In terms of the very public articulation of it on a stage, we really want to be ready and be able to demonstrate it properly and all of that. So we will do that when we are ready, when we can show it properly.”

Yet when it came to PSVR concerns, Ryan tells gamers and critics to play the headset for themselves and make up their own minds.

“Go to our room and check out the VR games and make up your own mind,” he told us at E3. “That’s for you and others to decide upon. We are completely confident that the line-up of 50 games - plus some of which was announced yesterday, which was serious in terms of heavyweight IP – that those games are going to provide a first class VR experience. What we can say is that we have a fertile ground of 40m PS4s, all of which will run PlayStation VR.”

'Red Dead Redemption 2' E3 2016 Debut Called Off Citing The Title's Violence-Packed Trailer

Over the past few weeks, rumor mills swirled several speculations; all hinting the release of the much-awaited "Red Dead Redemption 2" however, there was no guarantee whether the sequel to the hit action-adventure video game will actually make an appearance at E3 2016.

Sony's E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) 2016 press conference was quite impressive as expected, assembling everything avid gamers wanted to see as well as some huge surprises.

Contrary to what rumor mills hinted, and more importantly what gamers anticipated, Sony did not take the wraps off "Red Dead Redemption 2" at E3 this year. If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, the company dropped its plan to unveil the game at the event citing the Orlando attacks and unveiled "Days Gone," TheBitBag reported.

"Red Dead Redemption 2," without question is one of the most awaited games that is yet to be released, and Rockstar Games has remained mum and refrained from providing any official details about the title. Despite this, fans were looking forward to the game's debut at Sony's E3 Showcase. Although the game was slated to release at Sony's E3 conference, the company cancelled the reveal owing to its gameplay features, Express reported.

Apparently, in one of the scenes in the trailer, the protagonist steps into a saloon and shoots everyone. Besides, there are quite a few similar events in the game that could disturb the Orlando shooting victims' families. Exhibiting such scenes at a mega gaming event of the year was clearly not a good move, especially considering the recent Orlando incident. Thus, Sony decided to unwrap "Days Gone" instead of the highly-anticipated title.

Rockstar Games and Sony has opted to remain mum and has divulged no details confirming such changes at E3 2016. This piece of news comes from a slew of unofficial sources, which imply it should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, if rumors turned true, the company's move to drop the release of ""Red Dead Redemption 2" makes sense, especially considering the circumstances.

That being said, fans will need to wait and watch when Rockstar Games decides to finally launch the game. However, this hasn't stopped the optimistic fans from believing that the game will debut at E3 2016, and taking into consideration that E3 is slated to run until June 16, there's still hope for fans who are still anticipating the launch of "Red Dead Redemption 2."

Sony, on the other hand has already made its important announcement at E3 2016, so the possibility of the title using the event as its launching pad seems very slim though. Nevertheless, while rumor mills continue to swirl speculations, and with a slew of leaked information regarding the game, fans are still looking forward for an announcement from Rockstar Games.

I was waiting for something about RD2 or the SP dlc for GTA 5. Based off the events of the Orlando shooting I can't blamed them for not releasing the trailer. A teaser could have sufficed but were get a trailer sooner or later.

Looks like its just a rumor.

E3 2016: CONTENT FROM SONY PRESS CONFERENCE HAS BEEN 'LOCKED AND UNCHANGED FOR MONTHS'

Sony's E3 2016 press conference did not undergo last-minute changes despite rumors suggesting otherwise, according to Sony's Adam Boyes.

Boyes, the vice president of third party relations at PlayStation, responded to a question on Twitter concerning whether a game had been pulled from Sony's conference, leading to Days Gone gameplay being slotted in as the show's closer.

"No, this is not true. The length and content we showed has been locked and unchanged for months," Boyes tweeted in response.

This is what i was saying before.

“When I watch the other platforms, it’s not always clear to me when the games are shipping or how many of them are shipping this year.”

Xbox boss doesn’t believe Sony is “doing a better job” shipping more exclusives

Comparison’s between the output of Xbox and PlayStation when it comes to exclusive games have been happening since the dawn of consoles, and will continue to happen. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer, however, believes Microsoft has been doing a better job at this recently.

Speaking to GamesIndustry, Spencer said he’s very proud of the games shown at the company’s E3 presser.

“When I look at this year, I’ll just take the E3 conferences… we showed four big games launching exclusively on Xbox One and Windows 10,” he began. “When I think about Gears, Forza Horizon, ReCore, Dead Rising 4 – all of those games are launching this year and they’ve been announced, there are dates next to them.”

“And I think on the indie side, we’ve got Inside which I’ve been playing. We’ve got We Happy Few. We’ve got Below. We’ve got Cuphead. There are a ton more, but I’m just thinking about some real highlights in indie games that are coming this year.

“When I watch the other platforms, it’s not always clear to me when the games are shipping or how many of them are shipping this year.”

Spencer added that next year’s slate is also looking busy, with Scalebound, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, Halo Wars 2 and others.

“I mean these are a pretty diverse set of games from a great set of developers. And to say that the other consoles are doing a better job shipping more games for their customer… I don’t see that.

“And I see what the other first-party is doing – Uncharted was an amazing game. I think Naughty Dog did a great job. I’m sure Last Guardian, when it ships this year, will be great, but I just look at the lineup and the quantity and the quality that our team’s been shipping and I feel really good about that,” he concluded.

Phil Spencer clarifies Scorpio 1080p TV comments
Dynamic resolution games will run better on Scorpio, and downsampled 4K games will "look different than the game running at 1080p", Spencer confirms.

Phil Spencer has clarified comments he made yesterday about Microsoft's upcoming console Project Scorpio, confirming that 1080p TV owners will notice a difference in games running on the new console, and that its 6 teraflops of power "will obviously impact the games in the way they play".

Speaking to Giant Bomb (and uploaded by Gaming Dog), Spencer explained that he wanted to "clarify one thing because this is something I said yesterday around, if you don't have a 4K TV what do you do with Scorpio?

"To me this is really around our motivation. Our motivation with Project Scorpio was with 4K coming - as you say, you see the TVs out there, we designed this console for that. And if you've got a 1K TV and… If you already have an Xbox One don't go buy an Xbox One S thinking your games are going to play better. It's not for [that]. If you like the design or you want the 4K streaming, great, HDR, great, but I'm not trying to upgrade you there.

"Scorpio is more powerful than the original Xbox [One], four-and-a-half times. And the 6 teraflops actually will obviously impact the games in the way they play."

He continued: "If you look at a game like Halo 5, Halo 5 implements something called dynamic scaling, so as scenes get more complex, in order to maintain 60fps they will actually change the resolution that you're running at. And they're not the only game that does this. So then if you run that game on Project Scorpio you're actually going to be at the max frame rate of that game more often.

"I'm not going to put that as a top-selling feature of Scorpio because not all games use dynamic scaling. I'm trying to be transparent with people about where we are in the design of Project Scorpio and what it was designed for. It was designed in order to enable these high-fidelity 4K experiences. So some of the existing games will actually run a little better if they're using dynamic scaling, but I wouldn't buy Scorpio to run your existing library of Xbox One games [better]. I wouldn't suggest somebody does that.

"And then I get the question of well, if you have an HDTV and you don't have a 4K TV, should you go buy Project Scorpio? And I guess some people will do that, and obviously Scorpio is going to be running the 6 teraflop version of a game, and that version of a game, even when downsampled to HD will look different than the game running at 1080p.

"But I still think of the complete Scorpio experience as somebody that has a 4K TV with Scorpio plugged into it. To take Scorpio and then plug it into an HDTV to me feels like you're taking a 4K frame buffer and down-rezzing it to show it on your TV. And the box will have downsampling - it will obviously show up on an HDTV. But the real design point for us, the motivation behind Scorpio, was 4K gaming, 6 teraflops. Some developers will take advantage of that 6 teraflops in different ways but that was really the design point for Project Scorpio and the reaction of the dev community, and frankly the fans here at E3 has been fantastic."

xbox_one_slim.jpg

Microsoft won't force developers to run games at a native 4K resolution on Scorpio either, he said, stating that he would "absolutely be open" to developers adopting a native 1K frame buffer and using the console's power in other ways.

"We're going to talk more specifics about Project Scorpio so we'll get into more of the details," he continued, "but I think creative freedom and how you want to use the power of the box is something that I would support. I came from first-party as you guys know, so putting the right tools in the hands of the best creators is our job as the platform."

All Scorpio games will run on the original Xbox One and Xbox One S, however, Spencer assures.

The clarification follows an interview with Spencer posted yesterday where he said that Scorpio is "not going to do anything" for 1080p TV owners.

"Scorpio is designed as a 4K console, and if you don't have a 4K TV, the benefit we've designed for, you're not going to see," he said. "Clearly, you can buy Scorpio, and if and when you decide you want to buy a 4K television to take advantage of the increased performance, obviously the console will be ready for you."

Project Scorpio releases in holiday 2017.

That sounds about right. Xbox had a better conference last year showing Gears, Tomb Raider, and Crackdown. Just a promise of what you can expect goes a long way. MS have quality studios that they don't even use.

I think this conference shows that Microsoft has thrown in the towel on this generation. The Xbox one is fucking great system and I play it more then my PS4, but it started off on a bad foot. They are never going to catch up with Sony.

This conference was about throwing the gauntlet down for 2017. This new Scorpio sounds like a fucking beast. As long as the price is right I'm definitely buying it. But I'm skipping the new ps4 Neo and Xbox S.... What's the point of buying any of those with this thing coming out in 2017.

The other issue for Sony is that they showed all these amazing trailers but only 2 exclusive games actually had a release date. God of war could be 2 years off and at that point we would be in a new generation. Most of the games showed by Microsoft are coming this year except for sea of pirates.

I will say one thing though... I can promise you that Microsoft will come hard with this new system. They definitely had to lick their wounds with the Xbox one.

Every company loses their mind eventually (Nintendo since the SNES, Sony with the PS3 launch) but Microsoft's was just a seriously epic WHAT THE FUCK. Take the 360 and give it steroids. That's all they had to do.

Umm I'm pretty sure the ps neo is the competitor to the Xbox s. Also I don't understand the point of the Xbox S. There won't be any games that fully support it. Why would someone buy it? For vr capabilities? Unless Microsoft comets out next year and says that either the rift or vive are supported it's a complete waste of money.

You have to blame the dude before Phil Spencer on that one. To quote Angry Joe, he fucked it up...

Hence him being fired/taking another job almost immediately after gamescon when the Xbox one came out.

I agree about why would you buy the Xbox S.... but the S is just the Stop gap for the Scorpio that's coming out in 2017.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-xbox-one-project-scorpio-spec-analysis

So the PS NEO would be in direct competition with the Scorpio for next holiday season. So next year you will have the rumored new Nintendo and new Xbox systems. The Xbox S isn't going to have VR. It is basically the Xbox Slim, but it will be 4k ready and $299. It also will have slightly better specs then the xbox one. So my take is that the Xbox S are for people that want a Xbox just for gears 4... like how I bought a playstation 4 just for Uncharted. Those are the ones that hold out. Also according to Phil all Xbox One games will be supported on the other System. I don't see how all Scorpio games will be supported on Xbox One though.
