Apple is on it's death bed

nah homie

what you started out listing is stuff google is throwing at the wall

all companies are data companies first and foremost

shocked that you didn't mention fb and their unique data

google+ was supposed to create what fb has, an entire profile of a person tied to a unique id

and they failed with that

in addition personalization will see search becoming less relevant

concerning twitter: that channel is way too noisy, try doing sentiment analysis for a brand on that, location is not there most of the time, id is not there, and there is a LOT of spam

google fiber was a way of forcing the market to step up, google has no plans to get into infrastructure like fiber, that is capital intensive and a very long term play that has no winners. carriers are still paying off for 3G equipment

google fi: again pushing the market but not going to be some sustained market google is wanting to be in

self-driving car: don't know why people think this is going to be some proprietary technology that 1 company will possess. google is not going to make cars so if you think they are going to license their proprietary self-driving algorithm and that will make them a winner then i telling you that won't work either. See qualcomm, they possess most of the 4G patents, how are they doing?

Last important item mofos are missing:

to win you need the best talent, to attract them and keep them

apple is laying off all their contract recruiters and some of their full-time recruiters

someone tell me what this means

Soooooo you believe that instead of searching something...FB will know exactly what you are thinking before you even think it?

Shit where can I set up one of those campaigns.

Bro I know you are who you say you are but you know nothing about the buyers mindstate. No amount of personalization can capture the impulse buyer...never bro..

Simply put, advertising dollars are spent for 1 of two purposes -- to create brand awareness or to convert a sale. FB is marginally acceptable for brand awareness campaigns but Google is far superior for sales conversions.

Most of FB ad revenue comes from institutional agencies that allocate online advertising to a specific platform. FB is the flavor of the month. They will try the newbie FB for a few then eventually go back to old reliable - Google. The only platform better for conversion than Google is tv ads. There is just something every powerful about tv ads.

As I have been saying, FB is great for brand awareness and that is about it.

TV ads are powerful because the demographic...you have people who can actually sit still for an hour or two.

What also makes TV ads powerful is that more older people still watch conventional television and as I said about the BING crowd...those people will reach for their wallet quicker than someone on Facebook creating a fake life to impress people.

The fact that you mentioned Google+ as a social network and failure tells me you know nothing about the game. I'll clue you in, Google+ is and was a regulatory red herring. Google needed a legitimate reason to unify all of its unique login properties without raising antitrust attention. Anytime Google tries to consolidate anything the regulatory agencies around the world be waiting to swoop in to break it up.

Hence the "social" focus of Google+. The social portion which was always a throw away. If it worked great if not, ok. Google+ has moved on but lookie lookie the unified login for YouTube, gmail, Google, and all other Google property survived.

=. FB is marginally acceptable for brand awareness campaigns but Google is far superior for sales conversions.

You can't make this statement without doing a product for product comparison. I know for a FACT several products and categories that convert way higher (for sales) on FB than on Google. This is a matter of fact not opinion.

The reality of the matter is that it depends on the type of product and who you're selling it to.

You pick a product that specifically sells well to generation z or millennials and put two equally skilled marketers in a room with the same product and the same budget and the marketer on FB is going to murder the guy on Google...every time, in terms of ROI.

All I can say to that is... Ha.. Ha.. Ha.. NOT!

What's so crazy about this statement is there it's empirically impossible to even support this argument because you can't reliably track performance on television advertising.

It's hilarious that you would tout Google because on conversion vs FB for brand awareness and then save TV > Google for sales. That's embarrassingly silly to say.

TV spend is mainly for brand awareness. It's the ultimate brand awareness budget item because you can't reliable track conversion

All I can say to that is... Ha.. Ha.. Ha.. NOT!

You can ha ha ha not all you want.

I think the primary problem with people like you and GD is that you don't realize that people like @kayanation and I have access to hard data.

I've literally have seen the spreadsheets of marketers that run absolutely massive advertising budgets and seen the hard numbers. There are absolutely categories where FB ROI blows Google to bits.

@largebillsonlyplease Can vouch for this.

I'm not even going to argue with you about the shit. This is like arguing with people who believe the world is still flat.

. Google needed a legitimate reason to unify all of its unique login properties without raising antitrust attention..

Yall got my stomach hurting. @kayanation Regulatory issues over federated login

Yall need to stop.

Kaya.. federated login. He said federated identity would have been a regulatory problem... haha...

Yall are hilarious. I'm done.

Dude do you think about what you say before you type?

You can track tv conversion. They have been doing it for years. If tv advertising so poorly performs then why does every local supermarket, mc Donald's, subway, national pizza chains, coke cola, Pepsi, Budweiser, bmw, Mercedes, Audi run millions of dollars worth of tv ads a year. They just like to light money on fire. Television ads convert into sales. Period.

why did google want to do this?

why did they want to unify all of its unique login properties?

You can track tv conversion. They have been doing it for years. I.

 You know what the most famous line about TV advertising is

""Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don't know which half."

You can't reliable track TV advertising.

On digitized systems, you can track down to the decimal.

Ask Budweiser what their ROI is on their TV advertising is in ST. Louis. They couldn't give you a reliable answer beyond a basic guestimate. TV "advertising" mostly is considered a marketing expense.

On the contrary, the web advertising team can give you the ROI on the ads from the last 10 minutes.

Stop. You're fucking clueless.

Bro you are talking to tech junkies that believe what they know translates into being gurus at marketing & advertising.

TV ads perform poorly

shhhhhhh........

This could easily have been a cordial conversation.

There is nothing worse than a smart muthafucka that doesn't realize he's dealing with someone who understands something exponentially more than his does.

I'm gonna leave you here in your thread with him.

I'm in tears over the Google+ one.... you can make a whole new forum to discuss Google and their problematic culture when it comes to social problems.

TV ads perform poorly

Reading comprehension you simple muthafucka.

Who said TV ads perform poorly? Semantics are important. The problem is being able to reliably and consistently track ROI and drill down on KPIs. That's the argument. It's over your head. Stop.

i think i'm going to just post pics and kill some of this back and forth

Let me drop this and help you two out before I go. This is even before we get into conversation. TV networks can't even accurately tell you how many people have actually seen an ad because they don't even have precise information on how many people are watching any channel at any particular time. It's all highly formulated guesswork.

NBCUniversal Ad Sales Chief Slams Nielsen for TV Measurement Problems

If Nielsen isn’t going to do a good enough job accurately measuring TV to satisfy NBCUniversal, the conglomerate isn’t about to stand idly by.

That’s the word from Linda Yaccarino, chairman of advertising sales and client partnerships, who had harsh words for the measurement giant in a keynote Q&A at Variety Entertainment Summit on Thursday at CES.

She issued a call to action for the entire industry to make their frustrations known. “It’s unfair to marketers, it’s unfair to content creators, and it’s up to all of us in this industry to take a stand,” said Yaccarino. “We need to reach beyond a C3 rating.”

Yaccarino cited NBCU’s move last October to take CNBC Business Day off of Nielsen as an example of the industry not having to fear negative repercussions.

“Nothing bad happened,” Yaccarino noted. “The sky didn’t fall. The network didn’t go off the air. In fact, marketers love that they’ve finally got an accurate picture of their audience. And there’s no reason we can’t do that across our entire industry.”

If Nielsen’s move toward introducing a Total Audience Measurement solution that adequately tracked viewing across platforms was supposed to satisfy NBCU, Yaccarino didn’t seem too impressed. She cited Nielsen’s expansion from 25,000 to 40,000 homes to measure wasn’t enough considering offices and bars still aren’t being monitored.

“Yes, Nielsen just debuted their Total Audience metric, but progress is slow, and we have some serious questions about their methodology,” said Yaccarino. “There’s nothing ‘total’ about that metric if you ask me.”

Yaccarino lamented how NBC series like “Blindspot” are seeing as much as 700,000 viewers in the 18-49 demo not being accounted for. “And, to get those totally wrong numbers, I have to wait three weeks for C3 delivery. It’s insane,” she groused.

Making matters worse is that streaming services and social platforms are winning over marketers with more data-driven products despite the fact their own ad solutions have serious problems of their own.

“But I get it,” she said. “For marketers, the allure of comprehensive audience data is powerful enough to ignore all that. I mean, consider the alternative. What does a C3 rating tell you anyway? Almost nothing. Age, gender, maybe? It’s practically useless. But that’s TV.”

NBCU has its own approach to melding content and data analytics called “VT,” which stands for video technology.

“With VT, we’re revolutionizing our data offerings to give marketers the clearest possible picture of the audience, and the ability to create powerful, meaningful moments with them,” she said.

It helps that NBCU has a parent company like Comcast, which has a massive audience base with data-rich set-top boxes in their homes.

“Comcast has 23 million subscribers,” noted Yaccarino. “Who do you think has the better data?”

Nevertheless, Comcast data is a small comfort when the currency remains Nielsen, which she believes is undercounting NBCU audiences.

“Imagine you’re a quarterback, and every time you threw a touchdown, it was only worth four points instead of six,” vented Yaccarino. “That’s basically what I’m dealing with every friggin’ day.”

Dude you can't see the forest for the trees... You stuck on social and no nothing of antitrust and the big picture.

I may entertain the thought of explaining it further tomorrow but keep on with your Google+ is a FB clone self.

If tv advertising so poorly performs.

You guys struggle with reading comprehension. I didn't say how it performs. I said you can't consistently and accurate know if an advertisement performs well or not. That's a fucking fact of the industry and any respectable person in the industry (outside of Nielson or the data peddlers) consistently admits this.

Stop this clown show.

TV advertising (when it comes to tracking direct sales) is one of the least transparent forms of advertising when it comes to analytics.

no sure what happened here but i wanted him to give his reason without you giving it away

that why i was asking you to not answer lol

he still hasn't answered

.

Oh. We aren't even going into big picture stuff here. You have to understand the small picture before you even get into the big picture and it's obvious you're barely picking up pixels. That much is clear.

@kayanation I'm gonna let you have at it. There's nothing to learn here. Dueces.

yo spectrum

let's just post the pics and articles and shut these dudes down

they post words and no backup

fuck it i'm going to bed

tomorrow i may drop some links etc......

that google+ post made my night

:roflmao:

I might check back tomorrow.

Kaya. I know people using Snapchat Geofilters to sell products and they're killing it. If you target the right audience, the return can be sick because there is practically no competition.

I know a guy selling products to facebook employees by sponsoring geo-filters around FB's campus in Menlo Park.

It's more than just phones.

The world is changing and apple is lost.

they jumped on driverless cars way too late

they have no IoT strategy

no VR plans

Advertising game is already over with facebook the winner

Cloud is a wrap with Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure in 2nd place

Google is slowly dying as well.

In 2 years this world is going to look very different

You will remember I called it
So much BS here.

First, not only has Apple responded to the auto sector, but has done enough to elicit response from Musk. Apple has taken most of Tesla's engineers and Elon has already come to grips with his zero sum reality. Hopefully, you weren't one of the "lucky" ones in line for a product that won't see light for at least another year. LoL. Apple Car slated to roll out to consumers in 2019-20. What's google's time frame (or anyone else's).

Your IoT assessment is even more ridiculous. Not only does Apple have a strategy, but it has been implemented it right under the noses of the uninformed. HOMEKIT. Yes, that Trojan horse framework, in the form of Apple TV, has already become the hub of the IoT. I say, "Siri, lights off", etc, etc (with a connected device hearing my voice) and the Internet of things are within my realm. This is a true game changer. Not to mention the access ATV it will gain in gaming, media content, and the inevitable FCC cable box mandate. That partnership announced with Cisco last year was also a hint.

I could go on and on with the foolishness in this thread, but I will only comment on the ONE important point raised here...."WHAT's NEXT" ? And again, something the BGOL tech "geniuses" completely missed. HEALTHCARE.

And again, Apple is ahead of the game with another Trojan...Apple Watch. This sector is a fucking goldmine. And even you Kaya can't deny this. Combined with the emerging wearable industry, Apple got it just right. In under a year it has become the leader in the wearable market. See the new Fitbit commercial. LoL. For starters, just wait until the sensors for non-penetrating glucose measurements get approved. Apple already aligned with IBM Watson to regulate the sensitive info. The convienience of Apple Pay on the watch. Again, forward thinking the tech "geniuses" don't even see.

As much as I hate Apple those bastards are not going anywhere. That's like Disney saying Age of Ultron was a failure because it made 1.2 billion instead of 1.6 (or something like that). Apple has the millennial market on lock. You have a bad quarter sometimes - even Apple. Maybe the sheeple who swear by them woke up and said "just cuz Apple made it I really don't need this tech" or maybe they said "I love Apple but they are not moving me now with this incremental bs technology this time". Whatever it is there are too many entire families that have whole entertainment ecosystem revolves around their products. So believe this is a blip. Unlike Motorola Apple will innovate and evolve from this. Nokia, Blackberry and Motorola were dumbasses.

Amazon is way better positioned to win that with Echo. As a matter of fact, Amazon is way better positioned to win the home, period.

In under a year it has become the leader in the wearable market. of Apple Pay on the watch.

Apple Watch was supposed to legitimize the wearables industry and it didn't. It's not taken them mainstream. Apple enthusiasts were the main early consumers of the device and when polled, very few, as a percentage, were enamored with the product. The main use case is "notifications" where they can avoid picking up their iPhone. That's not a strong selling point for the masses.

The wearables market isn't big enough to have any meaningful impact on a company of Apple's size. That's why they're going after larger markets like the automotive industry. Those Apple Watch revenues are a rounding error for a company as big as Apple.

I was a strong advocate of Apple Watch but clearly people don't care about a wearable in a watch form. That sales outpaced the first year overalls of the iPhone is misleading because it's decelerated so aggressively.

The reality of the matter is that Apple has yet to build a new compelling product Post-Steve Jobs. And they're a massive company because they've always eaten their own markets before a competitor or competing technology has.

Apple doesn't have to "win" in order to achieve its goals. Profits. It doesn't sell the most computers or phones but trounces everyone in everything when it comes to profits in each sector. ATV is part of its media consumption ecosystem designed to sell hardware. Is Amazon still having problem breaking even?
