Dont get me started on me as a cable man.......
If Im in the suburbs, I gotta let it be known I work for Time Warner. Vest, shirt, hard hat, lights flashing on truck...all that. Or else Im a suspect.
If Im in the hood, niggas all out they window thinking Im cutting they bootleg. Its a fucked up job. Id never say who I work for on social media though. Company will fire yo ass for post like this.

you are too dead on with your shit!
They would be out there talking about; "There he go, tapping the lines" or calling me 5-0, or saying "I just wanna let you know, I paid my bill this morning" or asking if they can pay ME... no matter what the situation was, I would always just say that I was no there for them, I was hooking up someone's new service.
I'm sure you've had this experience too- some customer's service goes out. Phone, internet, cable whatever. THEY call in.. they are told someone will be out there Tuesday between 8 and 10.. here I come on Tuesday at 9. pull up in company truck...lights flashing- have on shirt, vest, tools, hardhat,(for whatever reason they love the hardhat) white person in the window of the house you are working at watches you pull up, park, set up cones around truck, put on tools and when you knock on door them mothafuckas be like: "Do you have any ID?"

like I could fake all this other shit, but wouldn't bother to fake an ID too?
Have a white dude riding with you, training him or whatever- and all your customers automatically assume he is your boss, asking him all kinds of questions he don't know fuck all about...We used to have a black manager that would get HEATED when customers assumed the white tech he was showing up with was HIS boss!
also, I think I've said this on here before, but I actually had a white person ask me if I got my job through a work release program...

What did your boss do? How did that situation with cops go while your boss was there?
I had asked my boss to stay in the truck, since it would have been less likely that the cops would have been called if we were seen together (he is white). So when the cops show up- They would usually ask me what address I was working at- I would pull out my work order (which moved from paper to pda to tablet over the years) and mechanically as possibly read off "Mr. Dwight Mann, 123 oak st," etc..
so this time, my boss jumps out the truck on some "Whats going on here?" type shit, comes up and introduces himself and takes that white man power stance- legs spread a little too far apart, arms crossed, stern look etc. I told them both, if they don't mind, I'm going to get back to work. I don't know what was said after that.
Afterwards though, I was running him back to the shop, he was asking all kinds of questions, about other neighborhoods, other black guys in our shop who are more vocal about discrimination and prejudice than I am... I was co-signing ALL their shit. I told him dudes don't just make that shit up, or be complaining for no reason then added in that depending on where I'm working, I might not see another black person all day. Asked him to imagine being the only white person in a room full of blacks- how uncomfortable that is... then said that is how it is for us every damn day.
