Fisher & Paykel Simplus Full Face CPAP Mask
Do the machines be loud as fuck??Anyone got a travel CPAP machine??

no I cant hear mine when its on. I hear the air in the mask but that is real low. Kind of sounds like darth vader breathing. I think most people can travel with theirs.
How long did it take for you to get yours.Primary care said she was gonna submit a prescription so I could order one.Is there a top brand everyone uses or it doesn't matter as long as the mask fits and doesn't leak?

I believe this shit is going to kill me......I was 6'3 240 got down to 200 which I don't like but I'm still having trouble. I need that electric implant.

You don't have a cpap?

No I tried it but it's not for me. The mouth piece work for a month but it killed my mouth( dry as fuck) . Houston has to doctors that do the electric shock thing they put underneath your tongue. I don't believe it will kill me at home but on the road when I'm traveling. I dam near fought a professor in first class because he couldnt handle the snoring and woke me up during a flight overseas, I was cranky and if wasn't for us being in the air I would've put hands on him. It was my fault and eventually told him, I'm due to get my deviated septum fix in two months to see if that help a then it's on to my tonsils.

Developed sleep apnea while in Afghanistan when I was in the Corps. Was not overweight at all and was in good shape. I will always believe living in close proximity to the smoke pits over there is what gave me sleep apnea. Anyway, This is the mask I use (called the Respironics Wisp)....it's the truth. Screw those full face masks:

Luckily I don't have to deal with this as much as when I was younger. I never had to deal with any of the crazy shit people claim like seeing demons and all of that, but just the couple of minutes when you open your eyes and your body is non responsive was some bullshit. I don't think it ever happened to me unless I slept on my back. I got so used to it that when it happened I already knew I had to fight my way out of it then I hated going back to sleep. Trying to make myself breathe manually wasn't exactly fun either.

Thats what I'm using. That full face mask had me sweatin and shit.

I have moderate sleep apnea.
Used to use a c-pap machine.
Doctor told me to change my diet and lose weight.
I don't use the machine anymore.

My girl told me for years I stop breathing and when I was in the service i was told. I finally went to the VA for a sleep study they hook me up to a monitor and i went to sleep they woke me up an hour later gave me a mask (CPAP) and i went back to sleep it was the BEST SLEEP EVER!!!! I use to be a RED BULL & Rockstar drinker 2 or 3 a day. Now i maybe drink one a day if i work super hard at work. But they told me i stop sleeping 93x's an hour. That scared the Sh*t out of me. SO since I had it I only missed 2 day I a could feel the differences.

You tried all the masks?Shit just the negatives of having sleep apnea and not being on any treatment for it I would have me just put up with the cpap.
I can't wait to get a full nights rest.
Some of these weird health issues I've expirenced are probably related to my lack of sleep.

How long you being using it and does it give you a stuffy nose afterwards? I'd prefer something like that.

So it works right away? How did you feel physically and mentally after a full 8 hours of sleep?

I have sleep apnea too. After my first night sleep on cpap, I woke up and it was like somebody lifted a curtain off the world. Everything seemed bright as fuck lol.

I didn't realize I had been tired for years.

I have sleep apnea and it went away for the most part when I lost weight and slept in a more upright position. They also make mouthguards to wear when you slepp that are relatively cheap. Try those before you schedule the sleep study.

That's what I keep hearing. When I wake up usually the 3rd or 4th time I can remember I feel like shit.
Just trying to read is hard as fuck.I was scratching my head as what it was for a long as time.
Now that I got this diagnosis hopefully I can sleep and finally feel refreshed in the morning.

BTW which mask do you use?

J listen to me DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GET THAT SURGERY. Heard it's one of the most painful procedures you can get on your body and it's not guaranteed to fix the problem. In fact often times the sleep apnea returns. Try your best to get use to the machine.

I JUST recovered from the deviated septum surgery and having my turbinates in my nose shrunk. For the first time that I can remember, I don't feel like there is congestion deep in my nose like I was breathing thru a bar straw. I the surgery feels like a punch in the nose the day of and day after but irrigating your sinuses with salinity is a huge help. Hopefully I get my sense of smell back too. It's not that painful but the percocets probably took the edge off nicely.

People say my snoring is "quieter" but since I've been using the cpap mostly religiously lately and I feel much better in the afternoons after working.

Drove to SC from the DMV area last Sunday night. Left @ 9 got home @330am to get up for my first day back to work on the 4/18. . . Haven't had those late day nod offs since.

I've used mine for 6 years. Sometimes I will have a stuffy nose, but it clears up quickly. Look into the nasal pillows as well. As long as your pressure from your machine isn't too high, they are great to use. Hardly can tell they are there

Good looking out.Can you adjust the pressure on the machine?

Thanks man, my wife was just contacting the insurance about this. I'll do some more research but Words from bgol is always helpful.

Yeah God I heard that there's a chance the sleep apnea can come back even after having the procedure done. That's why I was telling J to think twice about it.

I have sleep apnea, too. I pretty much diagnosed myself after doing some researching online. I don't have health insurance, so I searched for some options to get a sleep study... no luck.

I did find http://www.sleepapnea.org/ the site for the American Sleep Apnea Association. I called them on the humbug just to see what info they could give me and the Assistant Director answered the phone, Tracy Nasca. We talked, she shared her story and told me that I was too young to be dealing with it & it needed to be treated. She gave me some places to call for a sleep study, but the cheapest was about $1,200. I couldn't swing it.

She did also tell me about a program where they can get me an AutoPAP machine at a drastic discount. I had to have a prescription for one, then they (ASAA) would send it to the doctor that prescribed it. I went to a local doctor close by and explained my symptoms, he told me they are classic signs of sleep apnea, then I explained the program and what I was trying to do, he agreed & helped, but I still had to pay for the visit.

I have this one... the ResMed S9 with humidifier

I noticed that I sleep better with it, even when only using it 3 times a week, but it's not calibrated. ASAA sent it to me with broad pressure parameters 4-20 I think, so it would be all over the place. I had made a habit when I wake up to look at the pressure before I removed the mask or stopped the machine. Sometimes it would be 14 or 15 and my stomach would be full of air and my chest would hurt like pressure was on my heart. I be burping & farting all damn day, which I don't mind 'cuz I like pootin, I just don't like the feeling of being full of empty air.

I haven't used it in about 6-8 weeks. Kinda displaced

the first night I used the mask at the sleep study I woke in the morning feel great ready to run lol.....
How can I get a sleep study if I don't have health insurance? Or at least get the machine calibrated. The least expensive place I called wanted $500 just to look at the info on the SD card

The sleep study will diagnose the pressure you need to be able to gain and maintain REM sleep. You don't want to fool with that. Too little pressure and you will have periods of not breathing. Too much pressure and you can really mess your lungs up.

So do I have to go back with the machine when I get it?Or did they already diagnose the pressure when I did the study?I have the results with me.

They medical supply place should program the pressure when they get the prescription. The sleep study already diagnosed the pressure needed when they sleep study was done.
