Kelly Ripa 'beyond angry' about Michael Strahan leaving 'Live,' report says
The day word came that Michael Strahan would be leaving "Live! with Kelly and Michael" to join "Good Morning America" full-time, his co-host Kelly Ripa was noticeably absent from the morning show.
Strahan, 44, a former defensive end for the Giants, had been making appearances on "GMA" twice a week for two years.
Ripa, 45, an alumna of Eastern High School in Voorhees, and Michael Gelman, the show's executive producer, reportedly only found out about Strahan's move shortly before the news was made public on Tuesday. One source told CNN thatRipa is "beyond angry" about the development.
The same report speculated that Strahan's addition to "GMA" could portend a third hour for the morning show, a move made by its competitor "Today." If that were the case, the change would affect "Live," since that show airs in the 9 to 10 a.m. slot.
Ana Gasteyer ("Saturday Night Live") filled in for Ripa on Wednesday, and a representative for the show told CNN that Ripa had the day off.
"Kelly, I thank you, I love you," Strahan said at the end of Wednesday's show, after addressing his future plans. He mentioned that he'd be happy to fill in as a guest host after he leaves.
dude is on the show for the next 4 month..this is going to be REAL interesting now..
