A former car salesman reveals 4 tricks dealers use to get you to spend — and how to outsmart them

@jagu @BeatDownRecords

I'm gearing up to get that M5 this year. Been looking at a few other cars as well. Then I came across this right here.

Audi RS6-RR ABT. Limited Edition.

I call it the grocery getter. (And I mean actually groceries not butt) Cuz you usually see moms in these type hatchback cars lol

Get groceries hella fast in this whip.

Way out of my budget but still.

What do you think?
Nice, but I don't think it's in the U.S. yet. But you may want to cal Truth Cousin imports. They specialize in grey market cars.

But really, I think Audi will overtake BMW in 10 years. They are not scared to push the envelope.
I would get this car over any M5, if it was available and in that color too.

Delete this post bruh you want no parts of that..hell Audi knows the U.S don't want any parts of that, that is why thy never offer that shit here

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

But yeah... That RS6 is just a monster!

Word is Audi will bring the B9 RS4 Avant over here but nothing official yet.

That would be my next car without question if they did.

Not bad do you own? That'll probably have to do if they don't bring the RS6 to the states. But I'm not big on Audi to begin with. I like high performance vehicles. I really just wanted to get jagu's thoughts. But I might actually consider the SQ5 now that you mention it. Thanks.

 Truth holla at ya cousin for me.

I never been that big a fan of Audi even tho the last audi I had was a 1999 S4 back in 2003. Cool car I guess but I didn't appreciate it cuz I was stuck on wanting a M3 then.

I think they'll bring it here eventually. Imports do that type of shit all the time. They always claim there is no demand for the reason they don't bring it to the states. They did the same with the BMW wagon before bringing it here then discontinuing it for the GT. :hmm: But this Audi ain't just a wagon with 4.0 liter V8 at 700hp :smh: Why they bullshittin.

Any mid range under 35K cars you would recommend? In the market for a new whip. Current car is a 2005 nissan maxima

I don't get ripped off because I know what I'm willing to spend and nothing more.

I love telling dealers to go fuck themselves. Do your homework and come in with a plan to get what you want not some bullshit the dealer trying to put you in. And if you can, don't pay shit down. Motherfuckers always asking how much I can put down, nothing motherfucker and I don't need your raping ass bullshit dealer financing. That finance charge is crucial. You do the math. I say 5 and below is good but you can't beat .5% and no dealer I know of will give you that. From what I know. If you can get it though, get it.

Damn, relax. Dealers will not rape you today if you have good credit. The first thing they ask you is whether you have got a quote from your bank and they will match it. I just got .9% from a dealer. No bank or credit union could touch that.

whats so bad about the cvt??
High maintenance-It requires more frequent oil changes and it fails earlier than a regular transmission.
It feels powerless, especially when you need to kickdown and move fast
Boring as hell.

Not being a smart ass... But have you driven one??? The loaner I got while they shipped my car was a base model Accord cope I4 with a CVT... You put your foot down and you can feel the brains trying to decide what "gear" to be in. But there are no gears... it just does something to the torque settings that gives the illusion you have different gearing. It could be OK for a person who just wants MPG numbers, but no real car, or person who wants any type of performance should ever consider it. And the whine on off throttle is like a cat in heat. Either go manual, dual clutch, or auto.:smh:

Then you in a minority. .9% still isn't .5%

So, the man who is currently in the market should wait until 2018 for an electric car that he won't get his $7500 tax credit?

I said if he can wait for it. I'm buying that Tesla 3

Thanks but I'm very satisfied with the .9%
As a business owner, I know that you don't sell your stuff below cost.

The way they get most people is ask you what you want your car note to be. And good or bad that's usually where it'll be or higher regardless of the rate or the price.

New tricks for less than perfect credit folks:

1: Take your trade-in to Carmax and get a certified offer for it. (they will outright buy your car no strings)
2. Get bottom line price of new car before you mention a trade-in then get them to appraise it if its lower than your Carmax offer they will match or you can sale it to Carmax and come back.
3. Get an offer from Capital One or Bank before you go and let the dealership compete with your rate you already have.

Know what vehicle you want and how much it cost before you go. Cargurus.com will tell you if the price is below/above value.

Great information!

Also remember, car dealers make a TON on financing. They're not finding financing for you to help you get into a car per se, they're doing it to line their pockets with the derivative payments they get for loan origination. When they finance the vehicle the lender on the loan allow the dealer to tack on as many as 2 - 8 points which gets kicked back to them on top of the $200 origination bounty.
So that $500/mo car payment you financed, you're dealer is receiving about $50 of that in pure profit each month.

The financing game was so lucrative in fact that General Motors realized they could make more money on the financing of vehicles and the life of the loan, than the profit from the sale of the actual vehicle itself and thus came the rise of GMAC Financing.

Of course the only way to make more money through financing is to make sure consumers stay in loans and keep purchasing new cars from you, and the best way to do that? Engineer vehicles with obsolesces that keep breaking down or cost so much to maintain, that without gap insurance, they can't sell the car and leave you and can only come back to you for another car and yet another refinancing package.

THat's right gents; GM honchos realized they weren't in the car business to sell you a car - they made cars to sell you a financing package.

It was a brilliant ploy that led to why GM vehicles were such insufferable POS's from the late-70s all the way through the mid-2000's when the gig was finally up and the financial collapse of 08 exposed the truth and what GM had been up to the last 30 years and why they never had the same reliability or longevity of the big three Japanese counterparts. It's not because they could not - it's because they did not want to make cars that lasted 150, 160, 200K miles without too much hassle (unless it was their duty, commercial fleet, and heavy contractor lines).

But I've digressed. Sorry for the derail.

How long do you usually end up being in there? I always find myself in that bitch for at least 4 hours. It drives me crazy. I tell myself Ok 2 hours tops including the test drive. Next thing I know the sun is about to go down and I'm just boiling. I know their ploy is to tire you out to the point of just giving in. I never give in. I got mad stamina I just get angry.
I don't spend more than 5 minutes on price negotiations. I usually lay out what Im going to pay and it's usually a fair deal for all.

I always tell them during the test drive and then they actually relax after that because they know that I'm not here to waste time and they generally know that they have a sale. Once they see my credit score, it's over.

Man that shit is automatic with them that's why I always know what I want before I even step foot in the dealer and if they don't have it I walk out.. Not interested in a different trim or the we can get the car from another dealer type of shit.. LoL

Exactly! Nobody can sell me anything. I know what I want and it's either that or nothing.
That's why I don't use realtors to find my homes too. I have a high standard when I'm spending a lot of money, you just can't put anything in font of me and expect me t buy it.

Thats basically what I did. I told the salesman, and the second finance guy I wasnt trying to cut too deep. But I didnt have to have this car today. If we cant make the numbers work, Ill come back in a few months when I dont owe as much and well try it again. They fucked up when they told me they didnt have the car we discussed on the lot and I knew another dealer had 1 with same specs, 3 vin#s apart... Thats when I asked for more money off. I just liked the sale guy,(brother) but I was more than willing to drive the 50 miles to get it from the other place if I needed to.
