NBA: Kerr responds to Pippen's claim that 95-96 Bulls would sweep Warriors

As long as there is no set criteria or standard of what makes a player better then the arguements are weak. Im surprised old heads dont hate on floyd and say back in the 30 this guy whistle pete brass fists would have brat fllyod
I'm old enough to remember old timers in the 80s saying Jordan wasn't shit. "All he can do is dunk, well back in my day...." My favorite is their 'watered down' arguments. Talk sheer numbers. Drawing from a pool of 180 million people in 1960(limited to the United States with a white player quota) compared to a pool that is in the fucking billions(it's been a global game for decades now).

Coaches spend hours on defensive schemes. Looking at computer images of where players like to shoot. Looking at the same images of where their players like the ball. Dealing with now having to guard cats the minute they cross half-court, but people don't know basketball no more.

I don't get why it's so common for old timers not to enjoy what they are witnessing. Glad I haven't got like that -- well only with music.

I swear to fucking god old timers said that shit when I was coming up in the 80s and 90s. Since the players in the 80s and 90s were obviously better athletes then in previous generations, they didn't know the game -- at least that's what old timers had to tell themselves and others to feel better.

Now people are praising the 80s and 90s. Just like people in 2040 will be talking about the cats not knowing the game then like players in the 2010s. It's just hilarious. In general, the baseline for players is just getting higher with each generation. It's just a fact.

It sucks admitting that, which is why old timers always come across as bitter with the 'back in my day' shit.

There is a big difference between the 80's and 90's and today and it starts when the players are coming up.

There was better coaching and teaching in youth basketball and that is the key....Has not as much to do with being a better athlete and more to do with understanding the game.

With the advent of national AAU and travel teams there is less teaching and more stacking.

In fact you have players today getting picked in the lottery that are projects and the keyword is upside.

Scotty needs to shut the fuck up.

Let these team live, show some respect.

I haven't heard a single current athlete shit on previous eras. They normally speak with respect and admiration.

This disrespectful duck hole saying they'd sweep? FOH

even if you feel that way atleast show a little respect.

J Black talks alot about how the Civil Rights era babies (born in the 60s) have three things in common....

1) A strong affinity for white women and enjoying having sexual access to them. How many of these 80s-90s dudes including Scottie, Michael, and Dennis ended up with one?

2) A resentment towards seeing their kids do better than them. Which drives most of these debates and the constant need to measure themselves with guys young enough to be their sons.

3) A refusal to pass down wealth and knowledge. For all the praise and ring kissing these guys get theyre solely lacking in this department. The older generation of guys like Russell, Kareem, Chet Walker, Wilt, Frazier, etc have all written books and autobiographies on their lives and approaches and knowledge of the game of basketball. Where's MJs? Where's Scotties? Why did Scottie get dumped as an analyst? No knowledge is being passed down from these cats just war stories and "i never lost, i never missed a shot" sentiments.

but :ssshhh:because they not trying to hear you preach King T......

Or, since he has to go in the locker room with this team and convince these guys they are champions he can't exactly tear them down at the same time.

Basically.

That hand-checking comment was more profound than it appeared.

Its funny to see you type about anything racial, because the moment LBJ left Miami for the Cavs you got emotional like a female and uploaded some disrespectful lynching/racist/slave shit in your sig area.

I think its safe to say you that u have issues with G.O.A.T.S; whom your fav players wish they could be in the same lane with. So any time these Greats allude to this era being soft & easy...which it is....you get offended.

Jordan is better than any player that you like.,..liked or will like., and the thought of that burns your soul. :D

Dude you had low IQ players in the 90s (Shawn Kemp, JR Rider, etc) and the vast majority were offensively inept. That's why the league moved the 3 point line up to help scoring, made the no hand check rule in the 90's to help scoring, did all this stuff to help scoring because the players that were supposed to take the baton from the 80's guys failed miserably. That's why folks brag about the "physicality" to mask the fact offensively dudes sucked in the 90's. Today's players are waaaaaaay more versatile offensively and defensively. Cats like Detlef Schrempf, BJ Armstrong, Christian Laettner, and Vlade Divac were all stars in the 90's. :smh:

Bron sure was posting up the entire Warriors front court on the low block in the Finals last year.
