Don't go with any of the amd crap, most laptops have a hdmi out now a days, you should be able to find a i3 cpu laptop for around that price but expect the screen to be crappy and no features like backlit keyboardjust something real basic with Windows couple of USB ports HDMI ports etc....

Naw man I've used a couple of those low end amd CPUs before and the performance sucked which is why I said Intel i3 or higher2016 New Edition Lenovo 15.6-inch Premium Laptop, AMD Dual-Core Processor, 4GB Memory, 500GB Hard Drive, HD LED Backlit Display (1366 x 768), DVD Burner, HDMI, VGA, Bluetooth, Webcam, Windows 10
how about this one?
for $264?
Few questions..
Do you have a size preference?
Outside of netbooks, 15.6" is the mainstream size and will usually be cheaper than 13.3 or 14"
Do you need a built-in CD/DVD drive?
Any brands you absolutely prefer or hate?
Are you against like-new/refurbs?
I usually start with the Dell or Lenovo outlet. You can sometimes find brand new laptops labeled as 'Scratch & Dent' for cheap with factory warranty. Coupon codes can be found on SlickDeals too
You're probably looking at the 15.6's if you want to stay under 300

I like this one a lot...
they got a refurb for $317 what do you think?
Wouldn't be my 1st choice if I can't see a pic or some notes about the condition.
there might be some deals here:13 or 14 is fine!
I got NO brand loyalty. The best you experts recommend
I got nothing against re-furb...but I just got a 100 Amazon gift card so I was hoping to use that.
Thread is timely. I'm buying this week.
1. Putting up a Web site
2. Taking a programming course
3. Porn
I bought an ASUS abut 3 weeks ago while my macbook was down....don't play yourself. There is a difference. I knew I was fucked when I loaded Club Pics thread. It was like dial up![]()
ime they under-perform - but if the laptop will only be used for web browsing... its good enoughI was cool with anything but some posted they were bad...
what is your opinion? because I don't really have one.
I just need something affordable and reliable.

I'm not up on the pc vs. mac debate. I just know I coulda tricked that $200 somethin dollars off at Stadium and got my money's worth instead of buying this bloated piece of shit with god awful windows 10 on it.that shit has nothing to do with pc vs. mac. or brand vs. brand.
it has everything to do with spec vs spec.

that was a personal choice.
anybody good with computers wipes that shit and starts with a clean install anyway. why deal with the bloat when you don't have to?
and i have been using windows 10 since the first public beta with no issues.
REALLY???
I was scared off with all the security issues discussed on the board.
if you want something real basic why not consider a chromebook?
and those were over exaggerated as well.
if you are surely concerned about privacy i really hope that you are not using an iOS or android device.

chromebooks have alot of limitations. they might be too basic for his needs.
op, on the real for 300 bux you are looking at a "budget" laptop from any computer maker. based on your needs and budget pretty much any laptop will do. i am personally partial to asus but any maker will do. and there is no way you are getting any mac (even used) for 300 bux. and not that you need or should want one anyway. and don't fall for the amd vs intel bull for this budget. its all about the same. but i will say NEVER buy a celeron processor.
if you want some speed you are going to have to bump up your budget a little bit.
i realize this is out of your budget but this is a good start.
link is acting funny.... gimme a sec

you should get the school principal or admin to go to http://meet.techsoup.org/considered it but it IS too basic...
but I decided I want to buy one and donate it my little girls school and trying to get each parent to donate one to build up our computer lab.
