{~~~Guns, Guns and Mo' Guns - The Right To Keep And Bear Arms~~~}

Any advice on where to start?

Ok, this didn't help me at all.
I don't know a good scope from a bad scope.
Names, manufacturers, specs to look for, features to get...

It all depends on what kind of shooting you plan on doing with your AR. Distance, target, CQC, hunting, competition???? I run red dots on my AR's, I've had Eotechs, Aimpoints, Vortex (to name a few). For red dots start researching those manufacturers.

Incredible chicken shit move by Google. They removed Hickok 45's entire channel from YouTube for "policy violations" however, he violated no policies on Youtube!
His content without his knowledge was being ported over to Google+ which has a differing set of policies.

Coincidence this happens less than 24 hours after Obama's Executive Order? I think not. Then Anti-2A'ers cannot seem to understand why us 2A supporters feel like a needlessly and constantly persecuted group.

 Wow, this is getting interesting....

I swear by my Vortex sights...also, the Bushnell TRS-25 is a great little red dot if you want to start somewhere.

Vortex is good quality and value for money. Especially their upper-end line. I think the VIPER RST line or something.
Red field makes quality optics for money as well. Unless something has changed, they're now owned by Leupold, and considering Leupold is like the Mercedes of Optics, that cannot be a bad thing.

Once I set-up a gun trust in in a Free State, I'm going to start rebuilding my collection and will probably start with a short to medium range optic. I've read good things about Steiner's 1 - 5x and will probably start there. I'll be able to shoot target, competition, and out to medium ranges (sub 300m) with ease and have the flexibility to go CQB stuff.

Agreed, The Vortex Strikefire and Sparc are great red dots. Also look at Primary Arms red dots, these are awesome budget red dots.

STENIERs are good, but please buy once! I love CLASS 1 optics (USO, HENSOLT, ETC). ENSURE you get a reticle you can use, I made that mistake a couple of times THANKS FOR BRINGING UP OPTICs.

lol Primary, they ok but not worth my life. I just got the MRO, I have to say it is better than my aimpoints (M4 and M3)

Peace,

"A WELL REGULATED MILITIA, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

I'm not mad at cha, though. I think a gun thread is a good idea.

Most folks want to skip over the Well Regulated part

Oh yes, made that mistake years ago. First piece of glass I ever purchased. Didn't do enough research on the topic. Bought something with a reticle and BDC calibrated for 30/06 and I was shooting .308.
As you can imagine my shoot placement was all wacky and I had issues zero'ing.

lol, I know the feeling, I have several MOA scopes, plus the USO C2 reticle, but know I found shear pleasure with the HORUS

HORUS is the best thing since internet porn!!!!!!!!!!

goin to the gunshow this weekend......getting a shoulder holster
Good luck. I bought one and wore it ....:smh: shit bunched up and moved around something awful.

I researched them and couldn't find any that had great reviews across the board.

Ok, this helps a lot! Thanks.

Scope for 22lr & 7.62... target and distance.

Red dots for short rifles & carbines.... target and CQC.

Gunshows in ATL have become price gouges. The local shops like Adventure outdoors and Arrowhead actually have better prices. I caught a sale at Adventure Outdoors on the Mod 2 XDS 45 for $429. Gun show wanted $100 more for it.

FL Gouge Shows have been like this for years, it has become worse with the threat of the PoTUS coming to grab CAC's guns.

I don't have any complaints so far....shit feels pretty comfortable.

Shid, what brand? Got a link?
What gun you put in yours?

IMHO, The answer is relative to your thinking. My thoughts are you need a bare minimum 1000-5000 rounds of each center fire caliber, your fa's are chambered in. 6-8K .22lr, 5-10 loaded magazines for each of your fighting weapons, 500 - 1k rounds of 12 gauge. 250-500 rounds for each of the secondary calibers (5.7, .300 BLK, .410, etc.)... 100-200 rounds of novelty ammo (i.e. .50 Beowulf, .50 AE, 468 socom, .32 acp, mini shells, etc.). I have my target ammo separate, I never touch my stocking ammo, unless it's to rotate out the older stock. These to me are the bare minimum in my ammo stockpile. YMMV
