A former car salesman reveals 4 tricks dealers use to get you to spend — and how to outsmart them

You buying used cars off the net without even looking at them in person or test driving? nah bruh.
Stupid assumption. Brand new 2013 BMW 535imsport. Why would I lease a used car?

I also said I got it $500 below invoice with all manufacturer incentive. When did they start doing below invoice deals on used cars?

I must have skipped over that. You feel comfortable buying a car you've never sat in ?

So long as you get the PPI, you're in the clear.
Pre-Purchase Inspection puts a dealer on the hook for documentation of any problems.
As far as a test drive, you can do that anywhere.

if you are buying a new car it will have a warranty anyways, if buying used you will have to sign the form about buying as is.

No.
Not always.
Depends on what you negotiated.
I've bought pre-owned cars in the past. I have no social / mental hang-ups about it. Some guys I know do. They have to have new or else they feel their ego has been bruised.

But I would never hand someone $20-30,000 and accept an "as is" clause. Ridiculous. They have to offer me at least a 180-day warranty on major defects and undisclosed issues.

I cannot stress this strongly enough.
STAY AWAY FROM LAND ROVER.

They are absolute issue plagued, money holes. Even with the warranty it will be in the shop so often, you'll rue the day you signed the purchase agreement.

There is a reason why you rarely see very many 5/6 year old Land Rovers on the road.
I've heard this as well, tried to tell folks

Why YOU burying grey maked cars ?
Read what I posted. I bought a brand new car made for the American market but I just picked it up from the factory and BMW shipped it to my dealer from whom I picked it up 46 days later. I did not buy it from truthnnem imports.

That's rich, coming from an admitted troll.
Happy new year my troll, I mean , friend.

I only troll you and beatdown about German. I'm Normandie to you guys. I do like Audi even though they are shitty quality wise. Wife wants the Q5S. Happy New Year.

What u lookin to get? I might trade in my 2010 R Class for the 16 Tahoe LT factory 22s
Looking at the Tahoe as well, yet not really into them.. Also considering the Benz truck and big infinity... Still early in the purchase stage... As. 7 passengers aren't that visually appealing to me

These new Ford Explorers are mad nice. Checkout the Sport model

B reading is fundamental....
I wanna sell my Land Rover ...personally I believe all cars break, yet individual accountability helps in the long run ( oil changes , filters ,etc)

No doubt, I like the Benz GL 550 but at this stage with family and all that Tahoe lookin real appealing plus it takes regular 87 gas.. .. The M5 still on deck in another year or 2

Ok brother. No beef. The way you wrote it, the structured looked like you were selling the old truck and shopping for a MY13 RR HSE.

Ok, I just went for an oil change at the Lexus dealer and they gave me a new es350 to drive. I must say that this car drives very well for what it is. It's actually very well composed , smooth and responsive. I'm now convinced that I'll get a new RX350 for the wife instead of the BMW X5. It's just simpler.

For some reason women love RX's. Two of my ex girlfriend, each had an RX and they loved them.
The new RX though, jesus, it's appalling. I've seen two on the road and they viscerally made me wince.

Sadly, I put all British cars on this list.

LOL, that's how I still feel about them , but they are actually nice inside and it's less complicated and costs a lot less. We're buying and not leasing, so the purchase price and resale is very important to me.

The only phone work I did was when they tried to pull an okey doke on me saying the car had been sold and tried to offer me a different color of the same car, when I told them. Hell no I'm going elsewhere then they called me back an hour later saying the other buyer ended up not buying the car and they'd give me an extra 1500 off the price. Other than that I need to see the car in person.

I test drove 5 different cars to see which one I wanted. In this case, the 2015 Impala won out. I wanted the Maxima, but that 43k price tag didn't work for me. We got financing from USAA and my CU, and then called dealerships. The first dealership told us that they had what we were looking for. We went in, and they were on that bullshit, and I walked, like I told them I would do if shit wasn't to my liking. I'm 49, I don't have hours to piss away! :lol:Second dealership had what we wanted, and all I had to do was pick the color. In and out just over an hour.

I can concur. Occasionally I would drive and the interior and drive is very 'non fussy'. It felt more like I was driving a raised up Lexus ES. It did nothing spectacular but everything it did, it did nicely and in a refined manner.

I just removed Jaguar and Roll Royce off that list.

Rolls & Bentley are pretty squared away now that they are under the watch of BMW and VW respectively, and using their chassis and components for many of their cars.

Jag, for me, the jury is still out. They're now owned by TATA motors, which is an Indian company. I've yet to see anything touched by Indians/Indian owned lauded for their attention to detail and reliability.

I'm still of the generation that lived by this maxim: "If you buy a Jaguar, buy two. One to drive, the other for spare parts."

^^^This guy has his panties in a bunch. For some reason he gets off and running around the board behind and then then telling other members what to do? This guy is on a constant power trip.
Hey dirty cop, go have an accidental discharge into your foot or something.

This is only thing you ever write.
Troll post is troll.

Your man friend doesn't need you to swing in a save him. He can polish his own jack boots, boot licker.

I guess I should put you on my ignore list - then you'd be shouting into the abyss.
But I'm not going anywhere for a bit chippy. Deal with it or go kick rocks. Either way, makes no difference to me.
