Season 6 opens on a shot of Sansa and Theon. Or, rather, the corpses of what used to be Sansa and Theon; the snows had melted more than expected and they fell on hard rocks, dying on impact. Ramsey looks over the wall, confused and upset, then turns around quickly as he hears a horrendous noise; a monstrous battle cry. Armed men wearing the armor of Stannis's men storm the walls of Winterfell, slaughtering the Bolton goons with flaming swords. He draws his sword to fight them, only to gasp in pain as we see a sword protrude from his belly. He turns around to see Stannis, who pulls out a dagger and stabs him in the eye until very much dead. The death of Jon? It wasn't an assassination. It was a sacrifice, planned by Melisandre. She then used the power of Jon's death to resurrect the entire army of Stannis in the North, plus the ones who died at the Blackwater. The Baratheon of Dragonstone sigil is raised above Winterfell as Stannis's men celebrate.
Cut to Braavos. The moment after Arya apparently turns blind, she collapses facefirst on the floor. Jaqen H'ghar reprimands her, telling her that feigning injury will get her nowhere. He turns her over, to reveal a completely different girl. Arya has taken her assassin skills and escaped. "A girl has learned well..."
Cut to King's Landing. The city is unexpectedly under seige by resurrected Stannis soldiers. Lannister, Tyrell, and Faith Militant soldiers are holding off the invaders, but they are unprepared for a fight and are losing badly. It is only a matter of time before King's Landing falls.
Cersei is mourning before the corpse of Myrcella. She hears a clattering noise accompanied by a loud thud, and turns to see that Ser Robert Strong, who was standing at attention a moment ago, is gone. Cersei yells for a guard, but nobody answers. Suddenly she jumps as Tommen is standing creepily behind her. "Tommen" shoves her to the floor, removing his face and revealing Arya Stark. Arya proceeds to taunt Cersei, cutting at her with a knife and enjoying the slow kill. She is punched in the face with a golden hand- Jaime's hand. He and Bronn proceed to fight Arya over the injured Cersei. Jaime is mortally wounded, and he yells to Bronn to go and ignite the Wildfire cache. Bronn runs to where the Mad King had stockpiled Wildfire before Jaime killed him, and sets a long fuse. He then steals gold from the Royal Treasury and rides out of town, looking back to see the whole city, Lannister, Tyrell, Faith Militant, Baratheon, Civilian- explode.
Cut to Essos, near Mereen. Dany is taken prisoner by the Dothraki. The Dothraki take Dany to their Great Khal, who after the death of Drogo has established himself as the dominant Khal. She enters his tent, to reveal... Khal Gendry. Gendry has used his technical knowledge and martial skill to rise to the top of the Dothraki, and plans to use his claim to the thone. Dany will be his wife, and together they will take back the Iron Throne, with a Dothraki Horde and Dany's dragons. They cross the Narrow Sea to find King's Landing a smoldering ruin, and Stannis having conquered the Seven Kingdoms. In the ruins of King's Landing, the armies of Baratheon and Baratheon form up, and the dragons circle overhead.
But ho! A horrendous noise is heard, like the cracking of ice. Both armies turn to see Mockingbird banners flying in the wind, as knights of the vale charge into the ruined city. These aren't normal knights- they have been turned into wights. Petyr Baelish has sold the entire human race to the Walkers. The three armies all charge, the dragons bellow flame, and Season 6 ends on a ridiculous cliffhanger.
