2015 - 2016 NBA Thread - NBA where amazing happens - all rookie team named!!!

People confusing a great one on one defender with a great team defender..
A good one on one defender makes steals and blocks while a good team defender would over play a player forcing him into the teeth of the defense or towards his weaker side.. Now if he doesn't have the proper back up behind him, to the untrained eye you would assume that he is letting his man run by him... But once he gets the right players behind him those blow by become stops in the paint because his teammate is able to rotate over forcing him into a bad shooting position..

I said at the middle of last season before they started winning that Irving has all the tools of a good team defender... And sure nuff after Shumpert got healthy he started clicking showing his true potential..

Also...Kyrie guarded the best ball handler nightly, so that in its own let you kno what was up...

Also he played most of his career with Waiters and Any as his center..:puke: Imagine having to go up against the Splash brothers with Waiters as your back up...
Waiters is both small and slow, so often Irving was forced to play the 2 guard spot only because Waiter was too small to try to defend anyone with height, now he is able to play the pg position and not worry about bigger guys shooting over him and or isolation him in the post.. :smh:

Also if you noticed how dynamic the Cavs looked with Mo not playing last game and with Cunningham getting more run.. Now on paper it would seem that Cunningham for Mo would be a huge blow to the Cavs, especially on offense, due to Williams outstanding numbers, so far..
However, even with very modest numbers, the Cavs look much more robust and explosive, mainly due to the foot speed and athleticism Cunningham provides over a much slower paced Williams..

dynamic:lol::lol:..have u been watching the CAVS games; its LBJ and thats it; Mo has been playing well, Love has been playing better than average but thats it; CAVS do not look dynamic son...

J.R. Smith Has Been Playing With A Broken Bone In His Thumb

Outside of his mercurial play on the court and his colorful persona off of it, J.R. Smith is a tough-as-nail kind of guy who deserves more credit for being one.

Smith began the season poorly as he averaged 6.3 points on an abysmal 18-of-60 shooting from the field and 6-of-24 from long distance in his first seven games. But he also battled through hamstring, quadriceps, and knee injuries over the past several weeks which caused him to miss games in the preseason and three more in the regular season.

It turns out there was another injury that may have been one of the main culprits for his shooting slump, and it was never known to him until doctors found out that it had already healed by itself. Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal reported on this story.

The Cavaliers guard has battled nagging injuries since the preseason and apparently one of which he wasn’t even aware. An X-ray over the weekend revealed a broken bone in his right thumb he never knew he had. Smith doesn’t know how or when it happened, but team doctors told him it occurred long enough ago that it healed on its own.

All these injuries have made it difficult for the Cavaliers shooting guard to find a rhythm, but in the team’s past two games, he seems to have regained his touch. Against Detroit and Milwaukee, J.R. Smith ended up with two-game averages of 16.5 points while shooting 59% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc.

Obviously, these gaudy numbers won’t be sustained for long but what’s important is that J.R. Smith has finally gotten back on track and if he can close in, at least, on his numbers from last year then it only makes the Cleveland Cavaliers a very dangerous team.

We knew Memphis need a change didn't think Rio would be this effective

MEM before Chalmers trade on 11/10:

3-6, 93.4 Off. Rating (last in @NBA)

MEM after Chalmers trade:

4-0, 112.4 Off. Rating (3rd in @NBA)

:yes:Miami has a legit team, Im just curios as to why they arent playing better; I feel like they should be up there dominating teams more...

Really not meshing... Should play faster but can play fast with current players to be dominate
So It what it is

But why cant the play faster fam?? outside of wade, the startes arent that old; I just think with Whiteside dominating on the defensive end, that should give them more fast break opportunities no??

Its probably best that Bosh, White and Wade don't get ran in the ground bro...

It's not about age, they have a half court system...

Spo allowed the Heat to ran once, only thing was they had to play lights out defensive

No need to resign Dragic then if they gonna play like this though..

Last game was the first time their tempo seemed higher allowing them to get to their sets much faster, the reason was because both Delly and Cunningham push the ball better than Mo. So even though Mo has better numbers and is a better player, its a classic case of style of play yielding better results than simply stats alone..

Right Mo is more of a setup/ halfcourt guy, who's been very affective & efficient

Both style can work during games, they(the players on the court) just have to understand when to work them...

Yeah his lack of production has been killing the Cavs. To be honest I thought it was due to his extended minutes and the slowed down tempo..
And you know I always said that a LeBron James team will only go as far as his outside shooters opening lanes, well fo far this season their outside shooting is exactly what their record is.. However if JR can get on track, like he did last game, and with Irving back, they should be better than last years team.
