Every Rapper With A Platinum Album In Hip Hop History

Twista got 1
Redman got 1

but Luda and Busta combined both styles and got 5 each.
I would like to see somebody do a good breakdown of Ludacris and Busta Rhymes career - the lyrics have similar outrageous content, similarity in outrageous videos, both started speed rapping to revive their career, they both cut their hair at the same time, got fit, then swole, then fell off sort of... cats still fuck with them as features (radio got tired after 'my chick bad' and 'touch it')

busta has a better style, luda is a better rapper if you like punchlines, both ripped all their features

Silkk The Shocker - 2

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

how many of u niggas listenin to silk on the slick :hmm::hmm::hmm:

prob the only song you can understand him:lol::lol::lol:

can someone verify those too short numbers?, i fucks wit short but those numbers sound a bit high even tho he has a shit load of albums

:eek:That'd be a good trivia question. Would've never guessed Wayne had 4 platinum albums. No wonder why Baby and them built an empire.

Pay the man his bread.

And that first Silkk album is dope, in context. I discovered it on my block because of competition. I founded that first Celly Cel as well, which had a similar cover: Heat 4 Yo Azz. Both turned out well thank you.

LL Cool J got 7? How?.. that's entirely too much simp for my ears.

LL Cool J sold us out with that recent track, but he's one of the best to do it with a pen and a mic. He made a lot of good, well rounded albums. You should respect that part of his legacy.

A lot of those hardcore rah, rah dudes. LL would beat their asses in a fist fight, even back in the day.

Ross was heavily promoted and his albums (except for 1 I believe) always got the #1 spot on the chart. The question is why is it that lil Wayne and Drake can do it in this era and not Ross (with the big machine behind him)?

'\]7

Ross might not go platinum, but he has a consistent, dedicated fan base that gets him gold records with every album. His fan base isn't limited, they;re actually faithful.

This list is bullshit or old or biased.

OutKast - 7

These niggas got 1 album that was at diamond status (10 Mill) in 2006. List is bullshit.

Wow, and it's interesting how Redman stated "I'm after the gold, then after that the platinum." On his first album. Those are cemented hip hop lyrics. Very predicting. Had the rap game figured out, out the gate.

Them Short Dog numbers are real.

I never really fucked with him like that but his regional support was sick.

People forget Short had a fan base that stretched from MS to Cali in the 80's BEFORE he dropped his first major deal release

I never fucked with him when I was younger because of being East Coast bred but them cats in the barracks in the early 90s would not leave this man's music alone.

Hell he told you on the first album he had been rapping for 10 years by that point. His market share was solid.

Same people supporting him was supporting The Geto Boys.

Only reason his name ain't still on Oakland's lips everyday is that he moved away and E40 slid into the niche left behind. (my opinion as I'm not from Oakland)

My Mistake. It is talking about the number albums that went platinum by each artist. My comprehension skills are shot after watching the Saints destroy my Dirty Birds.

Sir Mix-A-Lot had that same support from Seattle and the upper west coast even before Baby Got Back.

Nobody from NY was caught dead listening to his shit.

So your telling me a million people bought TRU, st lunitics, silkk the shocker and shaq??? I actually bought one of the insane clown posse platinum albums in 99. I can't even hate. I contributed to them making this list

lol @ people questioning too short. your favorite rapper listened to and learned their game from him and then got him to be on their album to solidify themselves as official.

from east. (big, jay-z and it goes on) and especially down south...

he was selling records out the trunk. that's not a lie.

and then he signed with jive and kept dropping platinum albums.

yes 6 is real.

That's real shit. Told this story on here before. Freaknik in 94, it was Too Short vs Wu Tang as far as who was to perform next. Half the crowd was like "Wu Tang, Wu Tang." The other half was like "bring out the hoes, bring out the hoes." Unorganized but that shit was crazy.

Ant Banks and Too $hort released some classic shit. Game and Beats. Raised a whole Bay Area/ Cali. Just like the NWA movie, you only had a handful representing the West Coast on TV.
