You know what though, it would be different if I had any high hopes for this season, but I didn't. This was the first offseason in a while where my mentality was less a "I expect this of my team.." and more a "wait and see, they need to surprise me" mentality.
I knew the defense would be at least a work in progress, given past struggles, all the new personnel, and the new staff+scheme change. So to that end we might as well get younger now and clean house of anyone that doesnt fit. Im actually impressed with how the rush looked last week, but the DBacks are horrendous. Cant tell if thats coaching, scheme or talent...or a mix of the 3..LBs are ho hum, but I think we have talent to build on there, at least on the outside (I'm counting McPhee and them at DEs)..
Offense is a shit show. Even when Cutler was in there (more on him later), and they moved the ball, it was ultra methodical so that this guy couldnt possibly fuck it up. Granted, we were moving and controlling the ball, only to get in the red zone where Gase calls THEE most baffling plays in order to do everything in the world not to score. Much in the same way these new staffs/OCs have come in over the years and think they can "fix" Cutler, only to be shown otherwise cuz he's a Loser-spaz...for some reason they think Forte is a good short yardage/goaline back. He is not. I like Forte, but he SUCKS at short yardage. Still they think they can pound it in with him when its clear that Rodgers or Langford should be in on goaline runs. But coaches should know these things. Anyway Im rambling now....my point is the Offense cant stay out of its own way, and I dont think Alshon coming back is gonna be any help at all with Clausen under center.
But the bottom, bottom line is that we're not gonna do much of anything until Cutler leaves town. The dude just exudes ineptitude and can't be counted on. Then this fugazi "hamstring" injury

..The D has no where to go but up, but the O will always have this dark cloud above it until we get someone under center that gives a shit.
