2015 CHICAGO BEARS Offseason Thread

That's why I only got but so happy once we got that pass to Jeffery.

We needed more yards, because Robbie isn't automatic anymore

that's john fox though

I agree, its on his ass and both coordinators.

I can except that this is their first year...and/or we dont have the horses right now to pull these wins out. Fine. But I have little faith in the game plans from week to week. And the play calling is super soft conservative too much of the time. OR other times its just wrong. 3rd and 10 with 5 mins to go and they call a WR screen that everyone sees coming. On D, we dont pressure nearly enough. There come some situations where youve GOT to mix it up and bring an extra rusher. QBs don't fear anything about our rush. This D made something called Brock Asswhiler and something else called Blaine Gabbert looks like Pro Bowlers.

As I was beginning to say: I can except losses due to everything that goes into a regime change. Whats unacceptable is when the whole game plan seems to revolve around just lying down and playing not to lose. We should be going into every game trying to a) score as many points as possible and b) trying to force as many TO's as possible.

I still and always will ride for this team, but Im at the point where Im not sure I can dedicate 4 hours each Sunday for losses like this, not this year. The team is just not fun to watch. Same shit every week...and the ppl in charge are coaching these games with no sense of urgency at all.

You nailed it.

The defense has played well enough for at least THREE additional wins this year, maybe even four. You found a gem in Langford but silky ass penalties for holding and the once automatic kicker failing; it's frustrating as hell.

I predict us coming out competitive for most of the game, but AP will get his yards and (if Rudolph or some adequate slot receiver is playing) the ViQueens will eat us for lunch in the middle of the field. Also, Cutler will burger it at least once.

Only hope is that this staff follows their status quo and actually calls a better game on the road than they do at home. Here's to going out in a blaze of glory

Good return, we shoulda had this guy back there all year...or, you know, ANYONE besides Mariani...

John Fox's clock management makes NO sense. Im convinced the staff is just tryna get through these games as quick as possible..fuck trying to win...

Fucking OFFSIDES!!

You had a holding call on 3rd down.....negated by the offsides....which gave Minnesota another crack and they scored. Dumb shit has fucked this team all year!!!!

Dude, we have the dumbest and costliest penalties in the league. It's so fuckin annoying.

I wasn't shocked when they said we lead the league in holding penalties. The shit always happens to give us second or third and long and negates plays.

That game where we had no penalties is fucking amazing.

I'm finished. Cutler with a Culter-type INT. Season down the drain. What a fucking waste of many opportunities to at least get a wild card spot.

We have something to build on for next year. We weren't going to the playoffs anyway

for the most part Cutler had a good season

we need to get the defense a lot better.

....Ill give you this: I like our DL,RB situation and WR situation if White AJ, Wilson & Royal are back and healthy.

But we're at an extreme disadvantage..:

at QB
in the play calling department on both O & D
in the return game
LB, Safety, Pass pro....

Defense played well enough against Minnesota (home), Washington, San Fran and Detroit (home) for those to have been 3 wins; dumb ass holding penalties (Leno), a horrific return game (Mariani); season up in smoke.

Yeah man. Jays been a solid, productive QB this season. These loses aren't on him. I think the offense is cool. The line needs to be better, and people need to stay healthy, but that side of the ball is cool. The conservative play calling though???...

Defense and oddly enough special teams have let the team down. We knew going into this season there was a mismatch of scheme and players, and while they've played hard, it's obvious there's not enough talent. Amos is cool......... That's about the only DB that's a quality player with upside. McFee is good, Shea has been decent, but still not a fit and a guy or 2 I may be leaving out, but everyone else needs to be on notice. I still have faith in Robbie, but he's missed some head scratches this season that's normally automatic. Kicking isnt something you worry about unless you've got a bad one, and I don't think the Bears fall in that catagory.

The Bears need talent, and there's only 1 real way to do that. Gonna take a few years. It is, what it is.

The D line was a lot better than I thought it would be when we got rid of McDonald

We need to go back to the drawing board at linebacker

Jeffrey proved he can be a number one when healthy. Hopefully White can show he's a good number two. Royal was a waste.

Langford showed promise, and he's great out the back field.

The offense is still nowhere near where they need to be. Again, play calling is terrible..and the BIGGEST thing is that we cannot possess the ball. The D has been horrible at stopping ppl, but we leave them out there all day too..

The Bears aren't a very good team. What more is it to say??? We knew before the season started thus would be the case. They've played allot of close games that give the illusion they're not as bad as we thought. But that's debatable. Bad teams lose. The Bears are 5-9. You are what your record says...

...true and they are a bad team. Its not just a talent issue though. These coaching decisions (time management, not being aggressive, play calling) and personnel decisions (Mariani on returns all year, not playing dudes like Young more in the early season..what the hell they see in Shea M., signing guys like Alan Ball and letting Marshall go, etc.) haven't instilled any confidence in me as far as the guys in charge.

It be one thing if we sucked, but put our selves at a schematic advantage some of the time. But whats happening is we suck and we're seeing nothing from these coaches IMO. They're resting on reputation. I know Fox is a proven coach, but he's sounding like he's just glad to be along for the ride. And I still don't see how Gase ever warranted HC consideration.

Im still open to being proven otherwise, but the jury is still out. For all the shit we gave him, Trestman called a way better game offensively than Gase does, IMO..

Yet he's still better than anyone that's played QB for his squad since Broadway... Fuck Greenie.

You're not wrong, but unfortunately Cutty's a loser. Not figuratively, but LITERALLY. He's not a winner and he's not capable of lifting a team up on his shoulders consistently enough (be it with his talent or locker room presence) to be worth much more to the Bears at this point in his career. He talks a good game, and plays well at times, but you just dont see him playing threw any kind of adversity, or propelling a team. Like someone else said on twitter: big reason for his "decent" season is that the coaches have "neutered" him offensively. They wont give him the type of responsibility or leeway to fuck things up (which has to be a big reason for our lack of aggression week to week). And yet he still finds ways to Cutler shit up...

At this point Id rather have some naive, but talented young QB with fire in his eyes that wants to make a name for himself.

Cutler is an above avg QB... Theres nothing wrong with that. But the last 10 or so years its either youre elite, or a bum. I just dont subscribe to that theory. Everyone cant be elite. That has been the case forever. Elite Qbs arent easy to find, and throughout Bears history weve seen that they cant draft one. For all of the people on the sideline saying that the Bears should do whatever with Cutler, there are a good number of teams that would be happy to have him. People are saying the same shit in Cincy, in Atlantam, and Detroit. If not for those rings he got riding a great D, Eli would be on that list, and so would Flaco. I mean you can be really bad at QB if youre always chasing that next Rogers, Brady, Cam, or Russell. Sometimes you just need to build up what you have, because quiet as kept, the Bears havent really been shit around Jay since his first few years. Hell even then either he had a good D and no receivers, or good weapons and a shitty D. The talking heads stay trying to make things more simple than they really are. Jay isnt elite, but hes never really been THE issue here. Theres a reason as long as Ive been alive the Bears have never elevated themselves to upper echelon they should be given the market, and that shit starts at the top...

Cutler has the physical skills to be considered an above avg QB, but he's not a winner. I want to win, man.

The difference between Cutler vs Eli or Flacco is those two guys were at least able to string together a season, or even a full playoff run, of consistency. And they willed their teams to victories. Eli LED the, Giants to 2 game winning drives in the SB didnt he? Im not Eli fan, but c'mon. Cutler will never be consistent enough to lead this team to where we think we should be.
