Re: "ICE CUBE WAS ALWAYS DR DRE'S "SON" DON'T BELIEVE THE MOVIE" WellDamn? Artemus Go

I know many of you read Dr. Dre's GENERAL apology to the "people" he may have "wronged" when he was younger to which many of you screamed "BULLS***!!!!!!" This was done not because he had a sudden epiphany but because he is OFFICIALLY CORPORATE. He an officer of one of the biggest companies in the world, Apple. A company that has?STOCKHOLDERS. They do not want their bottom line messed with so, "Mr. Young we have written you a blanket statement which you will FULLY ENDORSE. You understand?" Besides which did you think he was going to address the women he has beat up by name??? Michel'le, Dee Barnes, Tairrie B, Plus countless others? Hell to the No! "Take this statement and watch My movie do $200 million at the box office!" Posted years ago: By @artemusgordon via @RepostWhiz app: As illustrated by this letter, even the biggest and baddest rappers are insecure. Dre met his wife Nicole while she was married to former Los Angeles Laker Sedalle Threatt. From 1992-1994, Sedalle, who took over for Magic Johnson as Laker point guard(go back in my posts), was the Lakers best player. Sedalle's biggest problem was he LOVED mixing groupies recklessly. This allowed Dre to slide in and scoop Nicole. The same tactics Dre used to get Michel'le from Ice Cube, the "I CAN LOVE YOU BETTER" strategy, is what Dre used with Nicole. For Dre to even mention Sedalle in this "love letter" shows how fragile even the richest and toughest of tough guys can be. I guess the plan worked as he has Nicole, two kids and the "wild savage" that once was Dr. Dre is now tamed also known as "no more good good music".

Who killed N.W.A.? Greed? Jealousy? Envy? An old feeble white man with no knowledge of Rap music that was only beholden to the group's boss? Or just general ignorance to the business? NO to all. The man responsible for the breakup but actually empowered two of the three most well known members is....drumroll please.......Priority Records head BRYAN TURNER. You see Eazy was essentially printing money. I mean literally because he had a "product" that NO ONE ELSE possessed. So he called all the shots. He only came to labels for DISTRIBUTION and not a PARTNERSHIP. As in evidence that the J.J. Fad and the D.O.C. projects were through Atco/Atlantic distribution and Tairrie B was through Comptown/MCA Records. Whereas E and N.W.A. were solely through Priority. When you spread your money like that, no one label can tell you what to do. So E printing money meant Bryan Turner wanted in. Distribution is good but OWNERSHIP AND DISTRIBUTION IS BETTER. So who is the easiest member to approach about a partnership? The street savvy Vet or the musical genius who only cares about the studio and getting laid? No, you come at the college educated good kid with the two parent's who want the most for their son and you tell him to look at his "contracts" because "I can pay you waaaaay more than $75k." Plus you give the kid who wants to be as big as his mentors the chance to be "in charge". When Dre left whom did he consult too? Look at the back of your "Chronic" cd or LP and tell me whom it is distributed by? Why would E eventually stop messing with them and take BONE somewhere else? BECAUSE HE KNEW. When Snoop left Deathrow, whom did he run screaming to in order to get out of his contract? AND as to not get pressed by Suge, who convinced Master P to pay the money to get Snoop out of his deal and wound up with him eventually anyway? So you see, if you break the guys up, you find a way to own them all and eat big time. You can't get full off of just some "California Raisins". There's waaaaay more to this but LEAVE JERRY AND SUGE ALONE. They portrayed this man a kind, gentle man in the movie when it's quite the opposite. BTW, who do you think hired Suge first?

So who was the "culprit" that actually caused the breakup? He gives detailed accounting of almost everything but talks in riddles when referencing that person?

And just as he says the movie is from the perspective of Dre and Cube, his accounting seems from the perspective of Eazy E. Everyone has a story.

Gotta be the owner of Priority records, I was trying to figure it out too and realized he mentioned that they could distribute with other labels

You may go in as "friends/brothers-to-the-end" but.... You fall into stardom "bright eyed and bushy tailed" not knowing that the path to success is not a straight line. In many cases, more important than the music portion is the leg work you have to do day to day to not only make your record "stick" but your career "pop" as well. Personality is KEY. K-E-Y. Too often than not many performers do interviews like they're taking mug shot photos. Drab, droll, and seemingly unhappy to be there. So because of this trend many media outlets direct their focus on one or a couple of members that are going to talk instead of the entire unit. Sometimes this causes great animosity between members thinking the one getting the focus is trying to get the "shine". The best example of this was shown the the film, "The Show", where Wu Tang members, Method Man, Ghostface, and U-God go at it regarding this very subject. If it wasn't for the vision and strength of Wu leader and founder, RZA, this moment in time could have fractured the group forever. As the meteoric rise of the "Straight Outta..." album grew N.W.A.'s star status, the group was being sought out by every media outlet both print and electronic. Eazy hated doing interviews and when he did they were VERY monotone and filled with profanity. Plus, they worked on the "Homeboy Honor System"=DOOWUTCHYALIKE. Dre, Yella, and Ren barely talked so that left the "kid" to do them and he did them well. Soon young Ice Cube was in demand to speak with. Although he might have "dumbed down" his speech, his interviews were highly intelligent and well thought out. Fresh from a two year stint in college, Cube was a man with some formal education and from a very well grounded two parent household. His parents were custodians at UCLA and wanted the best for their son and felt education was the key to success. People close to the group began to recognize this seed of greatness and the operation to extract him from the group and make him the preeminent star was now underway..</a></p> <p style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px; margin-bottom:0; margin-top:8px; overflow:hidden; padding:8px 0 7px; text-align:center; text-overflow:ellipsis; white-space:nowrap;">A photo posted by @artemusgordon on <time style=" font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px;" datetime="2015-08-24T22:16:01+00:00">Aug 24, 2015 at 3:16pm PDT</time></p></div></blockquote>

all the "inside industry" stuff I've been privy to learn about NOTHING has tortured my soul more than knowing one of the GREATEST recorded moments in gospel history was just gonna sit on the shelf and collect dust. Many people have told me rumors about it since before I had a deal. @NelsonGeorge &amp; @JohnLegend both told me they seen it w their own eyes. Long story short in 1972 #AhmetEurtegun commissioned #SydneyPollack to document #ArethaFranklin's historic New Temple Missionary Baptist Church return to her gospel roots. The 5 mins I saw of the clip back in 2011 had me JAW DROPPED even #TheRollingStones came to the hood and sat like deacons w the elders fresh in their muddy Main St. glory KNOWING this was history in the making: Aretha singing gospel. The 6 times I've been in presence of the queen I didn't bother w niceties like "can I take a photo" or "when will we play together on the show!?" even before I redo introductions I plead much to her chagrin "please sign off on this film so the world can truly know you are the greatest" I thought it fell on deaf ears. I was wrong. I'm glad I'm wrong. This is EASILY Oscar documentary material. This suffering can stop for its almost about to come in theaters: thank you Alan Elliot!!!! #AmazingGrace!!! You see Aretha did this film for her father's extremely close friend, the notorious Rev. James Cleveland. Cleveland is the one who is chiefly responsible of making Gospel music extremely lucrative by organizing the sounds coming from African American churches. With all his great musical acumen he was a very sinister "Little Boy B**** Bandit". People very close to him have tried to sweep this fact under the rug even in his death as to not muddy his place in history. One of the biggest blockers of that negative press has been arguably the greatest singer of all time, Aretha. See when you dip into Cleveland's background, you're gonna have to dip into others as well...

watching online now...they tried to make it look like dre came up with an original sound on that beat on nuthin but a g thing:rolleyes::rolleyes:

he may have replaced the strings with that higher tone keyboard sound but he totally copied how that tune went..sounds like he just looped the bass groove to me...

what ORIGINAL thing did he add to the beat besides the lyrics??

He added the hi hats, 808 and percussion. Shit was bangin when I heard the demo. Also, wasn't no bitch's at the crib then, he was living with Michelle.

how true was that scene in terms of production? I get the feeling that track was more formally written than snoop freestyling like that..

i feel you but the little things make all the difference in the world. having the wrong sounding hats fucks up the whole flow.

and replacing the strings changes the entire dynamic.

with the strings- its more polished. it's kinda soft somewhat. the smoothness doesn't really jive with the lyrics.

take out the strings and add that moog and suddenly it's dirty. it's rugged. it's some shit you can say ain't nothing but a g thang to

just fyi

"Scores of screenwriters who might have authored the story of gangsta rap on the big screen, Jonathan Herman is not the most intuitive candidate.

A self-described "white Jewish gay guy from Connecticut," Herman had no inside knowledge of the hip-hop world, and in fact had no produced writing credits to his name at all, as recently as late 2013.

But when Universal Pictures and producer Scott Bernstein needed a writer for the N.W.A biopic "Straight Outta Compton," they turned to Herman, hoping he could straighten out what had become a hash under multiple other scribes. There was a ticking clock -- the script had to be completely redone in a matter of months so the production could make a tax-credit deadline. "I think the studio wanted a heavy hitter, an A-list Steve Zaillian-type, but all those people were like 'I don't want to write this in two months,'" laughed Herman, 42, a gregarious sort with an honest streak. "And then they said 'why not this Hail Mary with someone new?'" It was the beginning of a sprint that had the writer throwing back gin 'n juices with Dr. Dre at the rapper's home just a few weeks later, then turning in a full rewrite six weeks after that..." #staywoke

#AGonIGSoapbox: As the great @kobanelife commented previously that, "Straight Outta Compton" was written STRICTLY from a pro-Dre AND Cube perspective. This gentleman was chosen on purpose to write the script. Not just because he had no relation to the culture at all which works well because he would have no biases but because he would DO AS INSTRUCTED. Which means No Dee Barnes, No Michel'le, and No Tairrie B for Dre. Ask yourself this, if Eazy and Jerry were so bad at business why didn't anyone else complain but on the flip side almost everyone to a man that Cube has signed has either screamed displeasure or attacked him verbally or physically another saga that wasn't written about it and I have yet to post. Universal needed Mrs. Wright for the music rights and Dre & Cube to sell the movie. It works out for all parties involved.

A little musical history lesson for you today. The production style called "G FUNK" was created by the two men on either side of Dr. Dre, Big Hutch(right) a.k.a. Cold 187um and Laylaw(left). Hutch is the lead rapper and man in charge of Rap group, Above The Law. He is also the nephew of legendary R&amp;B singer/producer/songwriter extraordinaire, Willie Hutch. Many of you know Willie Hutch from his heavily sampled soundtrack for the cult classic film, "The Mack", which have turned into songs like "International Player's Anthem" for UGK &amp; Outkast and "Definition Of A Thug Ni***" for 2PAC just to name a couple. If D.O.C. Is the "official unofficial" 6th member of N.W.A., then Laylaw is the 7th! He was right there assisting in many production duties for the 3 N.W.A. albums. Law and his production, along with the LA uprising, were responsible for changing 2PAC's "Troublesome 21" into "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z...." When Above The Law was trying to get on, they were brought to Eazy's attention by Law, who's brother Go Mack, was one of their DJ's. Their debut album was their demo and surprisingly polished for a new group. When they signed, all Dre did was re-fit some tracks. Above The Law's second project, "Vocally Pimpin'"(listen for yourself) was basically the blueprint for what would become Dre's musical taste during the time of making his beyond classic, "The Chronic". During this time, Hutch was working with an up and coming rapper named, Snooper Duper. Working so much together, either Hutch sounded like Snooper or Snooper sounded like Hutch. Snooper also happened to be good friends with Dre's step brother, Warren, who eventually brought him to meet his brother. The rest as they say is musical history layered in Platinum records. Law would go on to become A&amp;R over at Aftermath. Hutch would eventually go on to run Deathrow Records for a sec when Suge was in jail, BTW, if you know Dre, you will notice he doesn't work with "older" artists or artists that have previously been out and haven't had a hit a quite some time. So why would you think Dre put Hutch on his new "COMPTON" album? Feelings of guilt for jacking his style maybe? Dunno..

As far as production, he had already laid down the raw track and they were building it. There were no groupis, the 24 track was in the bedroom closet and there wasn't hardly any furniture in the house.

Funny shit was, Eazy and Jerry lived right around the corner.:lol:

Dre had just bought the house when the breakup happened and he was putting his production team together. This was before the Solar building, Dick Griffy or Suge slapping ninjas.:lol:

That Bompton shit is true though, I always thought Suge was a clown for that. Calling everybody into the Red Room and threatening to hand out ass whoopings if the demo's weren't finished. :smh:

Dunno...ߘɼ/a></p> <p style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px; margin-bottom:0; margin-top:8px; overflow:hidden; padding:8px 0 7px; text-align:center; text-overflow:ellipsis; white-space:nowrap;">A photo posted by @artemusgordon on <time style=" font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px;" datetime="2015-08-31T22:03:07+00:00">Aug 31, 2015 at 3:03pm PDT</time></p></div></blockquote>

Part of the story is true. Hutch has dope ideas, but can't bring them out fully. Dre tightened up all his sloppy production and polished it up. Sony felt, and David Glew the President of Epic Bragged that Above the Law would be their first gold Rap album.

For the hype (Murder Rap banned by MTV) and overall money they spent, the shit was a flop. This is where it gets funny, and why cat's are dumb as rocks.

They go into Epic and tell Hank Caldwell and Glew that Dre didn't produce the album, Hutch did copping pleas and shit. Well, Epic was like, no wonder that shit didn't sell and made they drop an EP of their own production.:lol::smh::smh:

They dropped that Garbage ass Vocally Pimpin shit and got dropped.

Dre got his G-funk from Rhythm D. He was one of the first producers on Death Row and that is the sound he brought to the table. Just like the entire attitude of Snoop was Lord 3-2 of the Convicts who were supposed to be the first Group off Death Row, but Lil J wouldn't release them.

Once I get back to the house I think it's time I finally drop off a couple of joints from the early days of the Row.

If Jerry Heller was the thief then would it make sense for Dr. Dre to let his own mother live a few doors down from him? If the "Jew that broke up the crew" was so devilish, why would Dre still be cool with him up until recently? Hmmmm...where was Jerry when the 5 artists on the right(along with many others) openly and steadily complained about getting jerked by the artist on the left. "Goons", "Wolves", "Hounds" and "Ninjas" or combinations thereof, have been sent his way steadily since he left N.W.A. for what they felt were violations such as "stealing others work" or failure to pay royalties. Ask yourself why is that?

All that goes way back in the industry man. Once you sign to a label, you might get 12-14% of the net profits.

Say you get 250K to do an album.
120K for production and studio costs
25K to your manager
10K for a decent lawyer.
10K misc

That leaves you 85K for the group or artist.

Then Add...

300K for promotion
200K for 2 videos
a 10 to 15% loss on albums (damaged goods etc)
lets just call it 600K

You go platinum 1,000,000 units sold

Profit for album maybe 6,000,000

Artist percentage at 12% 720,000

Minus the 600K for promotion

120,000 left
the producer gets 3% of your 12%

But, your actual profit is $120,000

Cut that into 12 equal shares to represent each single point.

You owe the producer 30K

However, you never paid back your 250K advance. So you still owe the record label 130K

So, they don't give you royalties, they give you another 250K advance which is really a loan with an 88% of the money going to the label and you paying back the loan out of your 12 (more like 9%)

Dudes who know nothing of the industry shouldn't be putting out bullshit blog entries.

Cube isn't the most fair dude. He is a style jacker, and has been since his days in CIA, but as far as the business, he's doing it just like the CAC's. Brothers thought it was going to be on some homie shit.

I know JD is pissed cause Cube didn't help him get out of jail, but he was involved with a murder over a bitch, what was Cube going to do?

A self-described "white Jewish gay guy from Connecticut," Herman had no inside knowledge of the hip-hop world, and in fact had no produced writing credits to his name at all, as recently as late 2013.

But when Universal Pictures and producer Scott Bernstein needed a writer for the N.W.A biopic "Straight Outta Compton," they turned to Herman...
And that my friends, is how racism truly works...:smh:

This is the same shit Gerald LeVert went through with that group he put out (Written All Over Your Face). Gerald wrote and produced all of the songs and got radio play for the songs, and they got mad when he made most of the money.

The one thing I can say is incorrect is when he says know one else complained.

Even though they've always shown love to Eazy I've seen countless interviews through the years where Bone have complained about how terrible their contracts were and how bad they got jerked at Ruthless so it wasn't just Dre, Cube, and the D.O.C.

Yeah I believe so.

Also, when their group was beefing, one of the members accused another member of the group of fucking Eazy's widow which caused them even more problems and created more of a division. I can't remember who said it though.
