Galaxy Note 5 design flaw: A backwards S-Pen can permanently damage the device

Do you know how many times a day I use the Note 4's IR blaster? Plenty of times. I have 200 gigs of space on this phone with the additional SD card. Most of those gigs are comics, movies and 4K video I shoot with my phantom drone.

Moderate use? I run all my systems loud. Bright screen to the max, Bluetooth on and WiFi. Battery goes I flip my battery to the already charged one in my laptop bag.

You non-power users think everyone is you.

Fam, they don't get it. The note series, up until this garbage 5 version, let you use it to just take the best pics and selfies (if you were willing to spend all that money just for the camera) or you could be a boss and have a super storage, ever-ready mini computer in your pocket. Most people never scratched the surface of what the phone could do. The real travesty is that up until the Note 4 the phones specs made it lead the pack now it just lines up behind Apple.

Funny thing is that I'm going to get one of these Samsungs. I've been iPhone since day one, but I need another phone for work, so considering getting a Samsung. Just no idea which one yet.

If you can seriously consider the note edge. The new s6 plus , other than the dual curved edges, is no match.

I just copped this yesterday. The options bitten on the Note 2 was replaced by a minimizing folder feature. I couldn't get my alarm app to work.

have to figure out how to put a Back and Forward button on the Google Chrome screen. but I just jumped up from the note 2 to the note 5 so there is an extensive learning curve.

I only got the phone because they offered me my upgrade 2 months early if I get the phone. So I did, & I got a free tablet... If I send in the rebate which I just did today

on screen navigation buttons options should be within the settings of google chrome..

what specs did they change?

Dudes are entirely too cheap. Cord cutting and hanging on to 4 year old technology. Ole frugal ass, fusing soap nuggets together to make a bar ass niggas. Lol

I just came from Verizon & just checked out the Note 5 in person
Here is the thing about the Note 5.....
Regarding removable battery, you guys need to think long term

Fam, these fast/quick chargers will shorten the lifespan of batteries
After 1.5 yrs or so, that battery will be degraded like a mofo
If you are getting 12 hours charge now, later down the road, you might only get 8 hours off a full charge

You're thinking short term.

These new devices are coming out of the box with the ability to charge wirelessly.

Cars and furniture are now starting to come with wireless charging stations built in.

What difference will it matter if the battery doesn't hold as much of a charge that it used to when you will have the ability to lay the device down in common places to charge?

I know you will say "I switch phones every year or 2 anyway"
Wrong.....Not anymore.....
Dudes are forgetting Verizon/Sprint, etc are getting rid of subsidized phones
So now you have to pay full price
The average person will not be spending full price (800+) for a high end Samsung or Apple phone every year or two !!!

The trend you will start to see is, people holding on to their phone for 3+ years, just like a computer

You're leaving out the fact that companies are leasing 800+ devices to people and charging extra to upgrade yearly.

People will continue to upgrade devices at a yearly to bi-yearly pace.

That is because it wasn't necessary to begin with for most users.

Also walking around with a bunch of storage doesn't make you a boss, makes you susceptible to losing all that storage if the device is lost.

Cloud storage trumps a memory card any day but that is my personal opinion.

I'm not so sure. Excluding enthusiasts, I think most people are unaware of the true cost of the phones. They think it's $200 every 2yrs. If the bill makes it clear (unlikely, I know), I'm not convinced regular people will shell out $700+ every other year. Even for the iPhone. Could be wrong though :dunno:

Why in d hell would I want MY files to be stored by another person???????

Lose it on a device??????....not if its backed up on MY FUCKING DESKTOP HD and an external drive...that only I own....

Folks don t understand............at all.....

at the end of the day the lack of memory card alone makes me pass on this bs 5

They won't be paying for it outright, it will be broken up on their bill.

The iPhone for life being offered by Sprint is a prime example of the way that we're going.

You pay for the service, you pay a monthly installment and you get a new device yearly as long as you keep paying your bill. The really get people by saying that you don't have to pay anything at the point of sale, just pay your monthly device fee.

If you decide to leave no problem because technically you don't have a contract but you got to pay off the remaining balance of the device(s).

Those backups are real cool until you have a house fire, flood, burglarized or some other type of catastrophic event.

Because your files can be lost vs. a cloud option with redundant backups that you can access even if you don't have your sd card.

Easier to view files on other devices via the cloud than taking out a memory card, finding a sd card reader and swapping it.

Plug in a hard drive to your router and access it on your own private network while you're away.

the phone itself acts like a usb flash drive......that is why android phones are so good.....I don t need a SD card reader.....I plug it straight into the desktop....

Not on Macs without an additional free program but that is my issue and probably not yours.

Whatever works for you but I haven't had the need nor owned a mobile that had an sd card since the S3, all Android devices.

I completely understand why Samsung is making the switch and called it when the Samsung Alpha was announced.

Most people will lease, so they won't care. The only people who will care are the ones with bad credit, they'll just have to buy the cheap tracphone instead of the latest.

The storage and battery is one thing. But the Note 5 isn't that much different than the Note 4. I'm just not impressed enough to get it. Technology is a constant incline. Sooner or later something will drop that will catch my attention. I was anticipating the Note 5. All Samsung did was leave the door open for somebody to come in.

The fact is that apple users and PC (who seem to he more Android users) are two totally different types of users.....

this is what makes me pissed so much at Samsung stoo catering to Apple users.....they aren t your clientele

lol, yeah, I knew I was gonna get clowned. I wasn't that pressed. Glad I didn't get the 3, cuz everyone I know who had it hated it - and the NEW adapter. I had to wait for my upgrade, because I ain't the type to pay a shitload of money for a fucking phone (like those ipohone fan boys)

Yo. I'll clown the users in here that bitch about removable batteries and SD cards but this is really a problem:

I believe there were a few complaints online before android police posted the article. The original article has been updated to show Samsung apparently knew this was an issue and warned about it in the manual, but who reads those... There is no warning in previous Note manuals.

.....And people will NOT want to deal with the hassle of mailing it off for a couple days & paying $100 in parts+labor+shipping just to get a fucking battery changed out !!!

I'm sticking with my Note 4 !!!
:hmm::hmm::hmm:

Nothing but the truth. I was still on my Note 2 up until about 2 weeks ago. Target had the Note 4 on sale for 100 dollars with a 2 year. I just kept my old shit and paid 150. Irony of it all... The battery went out on my 2. My lady had an extra one, but I couldnt pass up that deal. That removable battery has and will be a deal breaker for me.

I have been a steady fan of Samsung until the came up with removing the SD-Card slot. I will be holding on to my Note Edge for a good while until they see the light and add the SD-Card slot back.

Rumors have been circulating that Samsung is planning to have the "Active" line now become the line of phones with an SD-Card slot. So we might start seeing a Samsung Note Active soon.
