Twitter slams Amy Poehler for R. Kelly/Blue Ivy abuse joke

I actually wouldn't care if she said that about my niece because I understand comedy.

As stated earlier, she was trying to find the funny (Patrice O'neal).

There's comedy in everything (rape, death etc...) but by laughing at it or joking about it doesn't mean you support it.

We just live in sensitive times and because of social media, people have the oppurtunity to voice this "outrage".

I didn't laugh because it wasn't a good joke, but I've heard plenty of R.Kelly pedo jokes that are funny.

Everyone has a different sense of humor.

If you don't like what she said, keep it moving.

your niece.
you ain't got no kids so please exit the fucking thread

and all of them should be taken to task.

nothing slips past shit.

jokes have to be approved on all levels before they fucking make it on air.

they all thought it was funny to say that about a little ass toddler.

fuck all of them.

Nah, way before Twitter there's a union mag they all subscribe to for ASCAP/SAG that has 'trending topics' or suggestions for comedians/hosts/entertainers - a joke service that's included with union membership. It's one thing to be the first to have jokes ready before everyone else like Imus, Howard Stern and all the other East Coast based shows. It's another story when your joke is the topic of conversation, the one all the other comedians are talking about.

A joke about R. Kelly assaulting Blue Ivy is not a joke targeting him. It's making light of what he did and punching down at his victims

This principle is relevent with Dave Chappelle's new Netflix special Sticks & Stones, which has his fans challenging "political correctness" and the idea of punching down.

where did this idea that comedy is only supposed to punch up come from, these mathufuckas never learned to laugh at themselves
fuck them and their sympathizers.

I think being offended about a child being abused proves that a person is human. Its never okay to joke about sexually abusing a child.....just think if someone made a joke about your daughter. Would you be okay with that or would you say their are kids in African that are having their vaginas mutilated so I dont care?

If it's intended as a joke, then you make a joke back. Comedy has no limits, but when it does, it's only when it touches something an individual cares about. That's fake righteous.

everything doesn't go in comedy

You can make a general joke, but not one involving an actual person...especially a child

Let her make a joke about a little white girl
