After Halo Collection Issues, All Future Halo Games Will Have Betas

Halo's debut on Xbox One was plagued with issues, as the Master Chief Collection players were subjected to problems that lasted for months after launch. Having gone through that, 343 Industries has vowed never again to launch a Halo game without first running a beta.
Speaking with Game Informer as part of its cover story on Halo 5, 343 head Bonnie Ross discussed the problems MCC experienced. She said that "the original pitch that we wanted to do was sort of a war chest. Ship all four games separately. Package them up." But then the idea was broached to put them all together with a single user interface, something that the studio felt was "a magical experience when you can pull it all together and seamlessly move across games." Ross added, however, that it was "very ambitious."
Noting the challenge of MCC being 343's first game for Xbox One, Ross said offering that kind of experience "definitely created huge challenges. In hindsight, it would probably have been better to ship the four games separately. And I think that fans would've loved that. We wanted to do more. We wanted it to be this gift to the fans."
One lesson 343 took away from all of this is the importance of offering a beta.
"There is so much we learned with the Halo 5 beta," she said. "There is actually stuff we took from our Master Chief Collection--learnings that we were able to put into the beta.
"Going forward, you will never see a Halo game coming out without a beta. It was obviously painful for our fans and for us. But it won't happen again. There are things we put in place to make sure that we know everything, how it stands up outside and in the wild."
Aside from releasing numerous patches in the hopes of resolving MCC's issues, 343 recently released a remastered version of Halo 3: ODST's campaign as DLC. This was given away for free to those who bought MCC at launch.
We learned some new details about the upcoming Halo 5 today, including the fact that you'll have AI (or co-op) companions throughout the campaign, and that the multiplayer mode will be supported with free maps.

Oculus is sharing a ton of news about the upcoming retail Oculus Rift hardware, but one of the more surprising pieces of news is that the hardware will come with a wireless Xbox One controller and a wireless adaptor and will work natively with Windows 10.
Microsoft's Phil Spencer took the stage to describe the included features.
You'll also be able to stream Xbox One games in a theater-like environment to the Oculus Rift, allowing you to play Xbox One games is a sort of virtual home theater, complete with the built-in sound hardware of the Oculus Rift.
"There is going to be a lot more to come," Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe said, hinting at more social uses for the Oculus Rift on Windows and Xbox One.

A Russian-language promotional website for the Gears of War franchise briefly updated today with information about a remastered edition for Xbox One.
The leak, spied by Siliconera, says the remaster will draw on 90 minutes of content previously available in the original Gears of War for Windows PC. Also, gameplay features from Gears of War 3, such as marking enemy targets and improved sensitivity settings, appear to be available in the remastered earlier versions.
Promises of graphical performance at 60 frames per second also comport with earlier rumors.
In April, Polygon reported that Black Tusk Studios — now known as The Coalition — was developing a Gears of War remaster, following Microsoft's acquisition in 2014 of the franchise from its original developer, Epic Games. Gears of War celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2016.
Rod Fergusson, the current head of The Coalition and formerly the Gears of War producer at Epic, downplayed rumors of a Gears collection earlier this year but added that the studio is working on "other exciting Gears projects," with more details to come at E3, which is this week.

- Alternate control system and a brand new control scheme tournament
- All control parameters adapted for Xbox One
- Added features from your favourite Gears of Wars 3: Marking enemy targets, the use of the device in a multiplayer game, improved sensitivity setting.

yo i was playing the gear of war on xbox one this morning an was getting my ass handed to me,im like damn i must forgot how to play the game.it looks great on the xbox one.it seem like they changed the buttons because i thought the wall bounce button was rb an now its he a button.hell i will get it before the beta is up.
I thought it was A on 360 too.
