Marco Polo on Netflix

Good show.

The cricket minister, his sister and the Khan steal the show. Marco takes a backseat to those wonderful performances.

In fact, Marco's story takes a backseat to everything else.

I saw a critic say this series was slow

I was like are these motherfuckers watching the same series as me

Martial arts choreography in this is fire....and hundred eyes vs the cricket minister is an absolute joy

This shit was FIRE! Do NOT even bother to read pro critics' reviews before watching. Just watch and enjoy. Shit was like a Game of Thrones/Kung Fu flick mash up.

Going to start watching this over the next two weeks

Watched whole series last weekend more like Rome than Game of Thrones.

Kublai trying to live up to Ghengis legacy will ruin him

All the coveted royal Princess fuck Marco willingly risking their virgininty and social status ?

Opium must be that apex narcotic

The cricket minister was not going back to the projects, pimped his sister and killed the empress.

If you like Asian women this is the show, the wrestling princess could get the DDT

Hundred Eyes owns the show "untrue by an inch untrue by a mile" he adapted his Kung Fu to mantis style quicker than Iggy's accent in Decatur

Ahmad aint shit ...at least we learn the Muslims are every cultures worst enemy

Too bad Asians didn't protect gun powder like they did the silk worm ...game set match.

Yeah I love seeing these pre colonial films before the west ran everything. Can't wait til we have these in west Africa. The Mali empire was second largest at the time, just smaller than the Mongol empire

I think Marco Polo is the least compelling character in the whole show. I think Hundred eyes, the chancellor, the Khan and the concubines (in the five tunnels of desire lol) made the series so far.

Good discussion, all. Gonna check the series eventually. Enjoyed gathering up the URLs and photos for it yesterday (for page 1 of this thread) √

Got halfway through (ready to watch ep5) in one sitting. Its got my attention, but too much of the show is in the dark. The castles intrigue makes the show, but my wife made me turn it off because the kids kept running through and there's quite a few nekkid bishes up in there.

I was thinking about that while watching this show. I bet some cats will think it's some kind of conspiracy by white folks if they show African vs African conflict as they are showing Asian vs Asian conflict in this show.

I watched it. It was decent. The comparison to the Rome mini-series is accurate.

Kung Fu action was awesome. Final Boss battle was TIGHT!

The Khan's Wife was about it too.

Of course the CAC had to have a prominent role, so somehow despite being an outsider, Marco is presented as being more honest and trustworthy than anyone else.

I enjoyed the season but the bold quote nailed what just... bothered me.

Fuck that culture vulture the world would have been a better place if they were to kill him as soon as he stepped off the boat.

But.... But.... he gave them the catapult idea ! They never could have won without his superior brain and strategy

Kublai is stubborn and unwilling to accept when his judgement is wrong

Nearly lost his son behind it.....good thing his wife is around

Yup. But it's gotta happen and we'll get over it. Hell If it's presented right maybe it'll go right past people

Interesting. That's true for him but his daddy gave his ass up to be a slave lol

I don't think so. Folks are fed so much of what they want and need to hear.

For example, Khan walks away from the meeting saying other Asians make better slaves than warriors. These cats worshiping a hippie narrative of Africa really don't understand shit like that. They are delusional and seek delusional 'knowledge' to comfort them.

If set in Africa, a show like Marco Polo would not be welcomed at all by cats who don't acknowledge brutality in Africa before Europeans. And as you know, most cats follow the crazy hippie narrative. Asians don't(they hate both Afrocentrics and Eurocentrics trying to hijack their history and accomplishments). Asians openly admit brutality before any outside influences. They make no excuses.......

Did you peep the scene when he fought ole boy with the Praying Mantis style?

SHIT WAS FIRE!!!!!!!!

My own problem with the show is all the Japanese and Korean looking people they have playing Chinese and Mongolians. I know white people think all Asians are the same but damn.:smh:

who?

The main actors are chinese

Benedict wong is from Hong Kong
Chen is Chinese
Zhu Zhu is chinese

Tom wu (hundred eyes) chinese

I think the only main charcter who isnt chinese is Latukefu who plays ayemba and he is Tongonese

Jingim, Kaidu, and his daughter.

Jimgim- remy hill is chinese-malaysian

Kaidu is korean- I'll give you that
and the daughter doesnt matter.

So out of the entire main cast- all are chinese apart from Kaidu and bayamba

eta: yusuf is egyptian

and even then they make it a point to say that he is a foreigner

so they made an actual commendable effort with casting

Just finished this shit.

If he were black and the Mongols Europeans, he would be the coon to end all coons. His own people(his fam to be specific) gave him to the Khan. He then defended the Khan(our house is burning massa) when the Khan had to defeat enemies that were Asian. Risked his life to save the Khan's son. Was basically helpless unless he was taught to fight by an Asian servant of the Khan.

But.... But.... he gave them the catapult idea ! They never could have won without his superior brain and strategy

At the end, they were getting shot by Chinese with 'guns' ....

Did you miss the part where the dude was clowning the 'ugly' foreigner for being the Khan's bitch? The empire(much like the Arabs of west Asia and Europeans) used all 'races' to win.

Yeah but that's a part of a process that simply has to happen. Stranger things have happened.

Lol you're breaking shit down in here for sure.

Yep. His own father gave him up to be a slave and seemed to be shocked when he came back to find him alive lol.

I'll admit my own inferiority complex of being mad when I saw them teaching him to fight and I got mad when he started to win but you're right. Whatever it he knew, they taught him. He only succeeded when he excepted their superior lessons lol.

I'm still watching it and I can't tune in til I get back home off this trip. Should've brought my laptop

just finished it

it was the last samurai all over again
enjoyable on the surface, but leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

In real life, its very doubtful that marco polo
had any influence at all over the Khan

heck there are questions he even visited china in the first place
