It’s BOTH fam.
Especially in MyPlayer (which is the MOST popular mode)
MyPlayer is not ‘balanced’ like the other modes. And you can’t use ‘sliders’ to compensate for all the fuckery.
For example:
If you play MyPlayer against the CPU…
The CPU makes about 90% of ‘WELL CONTESTED’ shots. No bullshit. (Even if double, or triple teamed.)
Meanwhile you & your teammates will consistently MISS the EXACT same shots, if contested. It’s ridiculous.
On defense, your CPU teammates constantly allow the CPU to score. They will leave their own man ‘to switch’ for no reason at all. Allowing the offense to drive the lane ALL ALONE, or take uncontested jumpers. (But even if you anticipate your teammate leaving his assignment, and rotate properly with GREAT ‘help defense’… it won’t matter. The shot is going in. Because the CPU makes practically all of its contested shots.)
I’ve played at least 20+ games in MyPlayer and I’ve only gotten 1 *successful* blocked shot.
On-ball defense is the WORST its ever been, in a whole decade. (Since the PS2 days)
2K eliminated ‘over-sliding’ that plagued the game for years… but they REPLACED it with laggy controls that provide ‘late’ reactions to split-second actions, plus excessive ‘momentum’ animations that you just cannot recover from.
On defense, players do not pivot, accelerate, or change direction instantly, like they SHOULD.
2K added ‘weight penalties’ that are tuned for ‘half court, set-plays’ only. So if you are running in a certain direction, and your assignment cuts to the basket… the defender gets ‘penalized’ slightly because he must ‘shift his weight’ in order to change direction.
So now, instead of ‘sliding right by’ the ballhandler… you just cannot ‘catch up to them’ if they run at you full speed, during transition, or on a fast break.
So they run right past you, and you get caught in an ‘stuck in the mud’ animation before you can accelerate quick enough to stop the dribbler. Or slow him down.
And if you ever ‘reach-in’ while standing still… for no reason at all, your ‘momentum’ carries you practically ‘out of bounds’. Leaving your man wiiiide open, to drive the lane or take uncontested jumpers.
But it’s not just that.
The servers are a MESS, but are in the process of getting fixed.
It’s really the ‘little things’ that make you notice that 2K did not pay much
‘attention to details’.
The announcers say… “Let’s take a quick look at who’s leading the league in free throw shooting”.. but the stat ‘overlay’ does not show up.
In fact, NONE of the ’stat overlays’ work in MyPlayer mode. So whenever the announcers say stuff like that, the camera cuts to the crowd, or the bench, or whatever, with a blank screen. lol.
Its awkward.
But something else that is very irritating is….
In 2k14, they used CPU-generated NBA players in all the menu screens, like this:
But now in 2k15 they use ‘photographs’ of all the NBA players instead.
That’s just ridiculous. (And piss-poor UI planning.)
Because I’ve already played enough games to see guys getting TRADED.
So like Jamal Crawford can get traded to the Celtics in mid-season.. but anytime you check his stats, or visit the Celtics ‘roster page’… he is shown wearing his CLIPPERS uniform.

I played the Hawks recently and they had guys from 5 DIFFERENT teams on their squad, and ALL their old team logos kept popping up on different screens.
So during the game, that shit is confusing as hell… when you are looking at the stats and seeing all these different jerseys on ONE team.
After 2 seasons, everybody gets traded around.
So all the ‘team roster’ screens look like a mishmash of free-agents.
But most importantly, using the CPU-generated NBA players ensures that gamers will ALWAYS SEE PLAYERS WEARING THE CORRECT UNIFORMS & PROPER LOGOS on every single ui screen.
How does 2K not catch that?
Shit is retarded.
But there’s LOTS of dumb shit like that happening in the game, right about now.
