browsing n my TouchPad at the moment. I have CM9 on it, but prefer webOS. Anyone know when are the open source updates being released?

me too, lol

like I said i have had no issues and wanted to know the benefits?

i got cm9 on it. do mostly reading of books and comics, and web browsing.

how did it go installing cm9?

was it difficult and would you recommend it?

i still got ICS on my HP
knock on wood, it still works after 13 months
of dual boot use. I was thinking of upgrading but
but not too sure if i should.

my girls HP touchpad had a problem some time
ago powering on with just WebOS on it, but
I was able to get it running again
with the "Hold down+home+power" trick
after several attempts
she read her magazines/novels and surf the net on it

I surf the net and read WW HULK, Spawn, Infinity Saga comics

Real talk - I'm beating a dead a horse - but WebOS is the best mobile OS I've worked with!
this shit pisses me off to no end, it kills iOS and Droid, god I wish someone would license it and put it on some good hardware... almost one year later and the touchpad is the heaviest device I have, but the most comfortable OS to use....

Like I said...my HP is pretty much the same, fresh out the box...a little faster cause I tweaked it but except from some slight issues with scrolling on some sites?

good to go.

Crystal clear AMAZING pictures, plays any vid I have thrown at it so far, plus play music while I'm reading comics or my kindle.

Surfs quick and handles BGOL fine...

But I am still thinking about the cm9 or dual boot just cause it may actually make my experience BETTER and there are some Android apps that I could REALLY use on there.

Is just the brick issue that has held me back...I swear someone should charge a fee to just do the installation it for people!

thanks for the links:yes:

i got a fear of the "brick", so I've been holding off.

all the apps and files have currently installed would be erased, I assume, if I do this?

cm9 just takes about 2gb of space. i saw no issues with
webos. YMMV

i had no reason to go back into webos once i had cm9 working as i liked it.
wish i could wipe webos completely and just leave cm9

can't believe they have not made an app for switching this to android yet...

Open mobile/Phoenix Intl are working on an ACL Android compatibility layer to run android apps from the touchpad while under webos, but the people who have tried it are reporting issues, and they are past the deadlines they'd given on their kickstarter.

I still use my touchpad on a regular basis and my phone is a veer. The veer has gotten to the point that the battery wont hold a charge all day so I have to decide whether to get another veer or a pre3 to keep the OS or go to another OS to get the newer apps. I like being able to link my phone to the touch pad and take calls/text through it, and the touch stone so I don't have to use cables to charge, so I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I was ready to get a new phone but the one I think I want (Blackberry z30, I know - another dying OS) Isn't on at&t yet, and they haven't said if they will carry it. If I go with a galaxy s3 or an s4, there are folx on ebay that sell modified backs so they can charge on the touchstone.

thanx!!!

the one I got hasn't been modded at all but plays movies reads comics has a fast browser and only drawback is no real app store & hit/miss playing netflix or hbogo.

I'm hesitant to mess up trying to mod it at this point since it works fine...

If I could get it to play netflix and hbogo it would be PERFECT!

RIP WebOS, fuck HP for how they killed it off :smh:. That OS still does some things better than the 2 major players. Synergy was the shit . And you see both iOS and Android have incorporated card-style multitasking.

It's a pretty easy install. You are probably missing one step. I still use my touchpad daily, but haven't used android in a while.

Did you try following the wiki guide? http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_tenderloin

or try the webosnation forum?

this might help too

I'm still not over it.

Still use my TouchPad but its a little buggy/slow when I use Android and webOS. Might have to retire it soon.

thanks

I haven't done ANYTHING to mine I think I just used a few simple things to speed it up and stuff...

works great but I wanted to put android on there cause streaming is almost inconsistent.

I'll check these outs...

I just don't want to brick it cause I'm not really skilled at that.

My Touchpad sat on the shelf for the past year or so. Today I finally got the bright idea to see if I could install XBMC on it. I did some research and found out that it would support Android KitKat OS. I installed KitKat and then installed XBMC. Everything is working like a champ!

It is noticeably slower than my Dell Venue 8, but you'd expect the Dell to be faster being that it has a faster processor and twice the RAM.

^^^

can you post those instructions fam!!!!

I second this. I'd love to be able to get some use out of my touchpad. Shit's been sitting in a drawer for over a year.

funny thing is I actually use mine all the time...

and I did such MINOR modification its pretty much the same.

As I said earlier I'm shook cause I don;t want to brick it.

I used to use it all the time, but the lack of apps was just killing me. I pretty much gave up on it once I got my hands on a free Kindle Fire.

you right it is essentially that for me now!

which is even more frustrating because the potential is so evident.

and I got it for so cheap at he time I don regret a thing.

The person that makes a SIMPLE way to just download or just upgrade the pad to android will make MILLIONS.

maybe this-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2756314..... be sure to read...read...read...and if you don't know ..ask somebody

I'm sure that the information is probably in the link, but if you watch the video that I posted while doing the steps at the same time you'll be good to go.

:dance::dance::dance:

thanks fam..I'll check this out

need the EASIEST way and SAFEST.

I'll be back!

it is.... I just didn't see your post before I replied... apologies...good stuff..

I just looked at mine this morning, thinking, I need to update it to the current Rom. I still have the broken camera Xoom-esque rom on there.

My daughter uses mine daily and I have updated/added a new android OS about 3 times so far. It plays almost all the current apps has no problem streaming Netflix of Hulu. As far as installation, its actually pretty hard to brick it and if you miss a step or it doesnt boot correctly, you can usually just start the whole process over. Just check out the guides that everyone has posted above and just go step by step with the Youtube videos.

Haven't used my TP in months since I got a Surface. Might try this tonight just for fucks sake

I hear ya fam. I got the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
which I use mostly but I still use my HP from time to time.
After 3 years, my girls and mine still work .
I still got CM9 ICS on it though and I haven't thought about upgrading it.
