**Official 2014 FIFA World Cup Thread**

Defence had experience.

But I hope for Argentina that they always score the first goal. Cause if di maria can't play anymore. They would have a problem. The coach left gaitan and salvio at home smh

Salvio is a beast, I remember him from his time at Atletico.

I'm not too familiar with Gaitan.

dive king

but he is the best player on this tournament. crazy if you look at his age

Could have used Pastore as well. I thought Lamela didn't get much time at Tottenham, maybe that's why?

yeah true about lamela but he would have been a bettr replacement for di maria. him, gaitan or salvio. now you have nothing. pastore forgot about him too. the coach must not like good players he only wants goons

Pastore would've been a great replacement. Sabella went straight thug life, but to his credit, it's worked so far.

Augusto Fernandez is probably gonna get the nod, which means absolutely nothing. :smh:

:lol::lol::lol:at thuglife :lol::lol: cause he did.

thats true as long as he wins the coach is always right. but lets say oranje scores 1 who is going to create chances for Argentina you cant leave everything to messi :smh:

He's only 30 though! Robben looks like Zidane's uncle. How you gonna look like Professor X and be the fastest man on the pitch? :smh:

Holland is about to be my team just on the strength of the reserve keeper coming in straight wildin out like he was in a 90s Rough Ryder video.

yeah but 30 is kinda old for a player like robben. i mean with all the technology now its got a lot better of course.

but in robbens case his skills are speed and dribble and it seems like the older he gets the faster he is becoming. also if you look at his history its crazy that he hasnt been injured yet. i mean he should be in bad shape right now but he keeps on going smh. he looks like robocop but he is starting to be robocop.

 I never really pay attention to his age I just thought he was old.

So last WC he was 25/26? :smh:

I thought Robben was already 40 for the last cup. Shit really has me bugging because he looks old as fuck but he's getting faster ol' Benjamin Button lookin ass.

muthafucka was 40 for the last world cup and 30 in this cup. Gonna be 20 for WC 2018 and wont make the team in 2022 because he's too young.

yeah man. That's the point I was tryna make. This guy was never fit. He was always injured. This the longest he went without any injuries.

True!

 @Robben look like zidane's uncle.

I think the Netherlands is playing the best ball out of all the four teams left.

True

Homeboy came in the game looking 50.

Question, when do you think Asian and African teams have a realistic chance of going to the finals? shit, for a while now it just seems they are there just to fill the brackets.

African teams could. Asia.. nah, not really.

.02

The way asia is investing into soccer now they prolly beat Africa. If Africa had the same resources as Europe it wouldn't even be a question.

African teams can. But they lack attacking mids who don't get misused as defensive mids because of their "physicality". African teams have to develop a david silva/arjen robben type player.

As for Asian teams, South Korea could possibly field a team for a finals run, but that's about it.

damn shame what these cacs do to African talent

jon obi mikel was the 2nd best player in the 2005 junior world cup behind messi, why wasn't his attacking talent nurtured like messi instead these cacs converted him to a holding midfielder

One of the greatest players of all time died.

Alfredo Di Stéfano
Alfredo-Di-Stefano.jpg

In November 2003, to celebrate UEFA's Jubilee, he was selected as the Golden Player of Spain by the Royal Spanish Football Federation as their most outstanding player of the past 50 years.[10] He was named by Pelé as one of the "top 125 greatest living footballers" in March 2004 (in September 2009, he said Di Stéfano was the best Argentinian player "ever").[11] Di Stéfano was voted fourth, behind Pelé, Diego Maradona, and Johan Cruyff, in a vote organized by the French weekly magazine France Football consulting their former Ballon d'Or winners to elect the Football Player of the Century.[12]

Players such as Pelé, Eusébio, Luis Suárez, Sandro Mazzola and John Charles described Di Stéfano as "the most complete footballer in the history of the game"
