~*~2014 NBA OffSeason Thread - Free Agency Starts - 7/1 12am ~*~

@WojYahooNBA: Biggest issue for Miami could be this: How does it meet Bosh salary desires, and keep any real space for free agents? Crunch time for Riley.

We all know which side leaked this. I brought this up two days ago. Now u have Miami saying to keep the big three for their asking prices they won't be able to land free agents

If he was willing to go over the cap they could sign some one today.

Bosh knows there is a market for him.

Wade is a free agent and no one gives a damn. He looking at his phone like. " maybe it's on silent"

So wait. The Heat can re-sign ANYONE they want right now and go over the cap right now and then just re-sign Bosh, Wade and Lebron while being over the cap?

I think it was actually a smart deal. He was only getting 3 to 4 million a year each year which allowed the Rockets to be players in free agency and net Dwight Howard. Then in that last year you get hit with 14 million but if a team wants to get rid of some salary for next offseason? Jeremy Lin would be a nice trade asset. That's a easy 14 million off the books.

Yup just like that, the good problem for Houston was he didn't return to Linsanity.

Yea you can go over the cap to resign your own players.

Or did that changed with the new CBA...Killa

Wade is stupid for opting out at this moment in time.

Cause if lebron and bosh sign somewhere else they not gonna give Wade the max

they gonna give him the same deal they would if all 3 come back

and this is the reason why the lebron holding them hostage stuff is complete BULLSHIT

i said 2 pages ago, they could overpay for these free agents but they're not.

they're not going to turn down real free agent money big 3 be damned

but they are going to turn down peanuts

Yeah I know if you have their birds rights you re-sign them to more years than anyone else but I didn't know you could go over the salary cap and bring in more salary than re-sign your own guys. I know if you're over the salary cap you can re-sign your own guys though.

So if they wanted too they could've gave Gortat 60 million and Lowry his 48 million......and shit even go and pick up guys like Deng and what not....be over the cap and then decide re-sign Bosh, Wade and Lebron?

Yeah but like that article just stated.....Lebron is on vacation and free agents are not committing to the Heat until Lebron does it. Fucked up for both parties.

That's why I think the "HAVE TO" sign Pau Gasol!!!

That's a name, player and skill set fit the current offensive scheme...

Why would Wade be dumb? I think Wade at this point in his career would always take less for a chance at winning. Can't fault him or call him dumb for it.

If the Heat end up striking out on quality FAs you know the CAC controlled media is going to paint LeBron as the villain, they've already started laying the foundation for that shit. :smh:

just for the heat not lebron

he opted out to give them time to do what they needed to do which was throw the truck of money at people to make the team better

ain't nobody committing because they ain't offering enough money period

we can't say dudes won't take shorts to come play with lebron they're about their money

then allude to them not taking money cause they don't know if they're going to play with lebron.

either they want money or they want lebron.

and they're choosing money. heat offer them m's they go to the heat.

they try to sell you a dream..they move on and go get m's

If your willing to pay the taxes...

If your willing to pay the taxes...

So why isn't the Brooklyn Nets owner doing this? He should've been the main one clearing cap space for this year. He's the only one willing to do it and he's doing it for the likes of Deron Williams and Joe Johnson.....

Lebron opted out to make max money.

There's no way he's silly enough to opt out so they get players around him. I guess doing it this way sort of forces their hand but if they didn't want to use the mid-level last year that should've been enough of a sign.

Damn Philly

Pierre Jackson suffers torn right Achilles
Pierre Jackson suffered a torn right Achilles on Saturday.
It didn't take long to confirm and sadly it sounds like it was a complete rupture. Jackson was acquired by the Sixers on draft day in exchange for Russ Smith and he probably would have been in the rotation, but he's likely going to be out for the season. He scored 58 points in a D-League game last year and it's unfortunate we'll have to wait a while to see him in the NBA.

It is and he's pointing it out

the lebron holding them hostage narrative is FALSE the owner is holding them hostage.

spend the money

or lose lebron it's simple.

They have 2nd tier guys ready to sign.
They're waiting to see if they can grab a "name"
Those 2 rings were won with 2nd tier guys.

2013-14 season. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Nets' projected payroll of more than $101 million for the upcoming campaign will incur a luxury-tax bill of around $82 million

Maybe I should stop fucking with people here, Karma is a bitch. We might have the most players under contract injured for the season in league history. I'm sorry to everybody I offended, please except my apology and get this curse lifted off of my Sixers... :smh:

A rival team executive told CBSSports.com Friday that the growing belief around the league is that Bosh would prefer a four-year max deal with another team to a discounted, longer-term deal with Miami. So many pieces in the Heat's puzzle are connected, and one of them falling out of place threatens to tear the whole thing apart.

The owner of the nets is trying to win.

If he had a clear team like the heat had he would offer all 3 of them whatever max he can give them and go over the cap to sign whoever they wanted

no questions asked

Maybe it's some back door deal in place for Wade

We will see if Bron and bosh get their max and wade playing for 5 mill lol

That's the thing though.. cause IF lebron and bosh leave the heat ain't giving wade a max deal

that's going to be the fucked up part.. he taking a cut whether he playing with bron and bosh or deng and thabeet.

Yeah, it's amazing how long that Dudes money is though. Not sure Mickey is flossing that kind of dough.

He's been on record saying he will be here and at a discount.
People just throwing shit out now

Report: Bosh would prefer a four-year max deal with another team to staying with Heat for less

The longer the LeBron James situation drags out, the more we’re going to continue to hear rumblings about Miami’s Big Three being broken up, with those players pursuing what would certainly be lucrative options elsewhere.

While the Heat remain the most likely destination for James to end up, it does seem for the first time that his leaving to go somewhere else is a real possibility.

If that were to happen, teams would be lining up to try to poach Chris Bosh, who is a legitimate All-Star talent that would command no less than a four-year max contract on the open market. In fact, he may now prefer that to taking less money to stay in Miami on a new deal that might lock him up for the next five years.

From Ken Berger of CBSSports.com:

Bosh possibly going to the Rockets (or to the Lakers or Mavs) proves why the notion of Bosh taking a $10 million pay cut to stay in Miami was never realistic. With the Bulls, Rockets, Mavs, Lakers, Cavs, Suns and potentially others chasing James, Anthony or both, there are more teams than there are LeBrons and Melos (only one of each). Once James and Anthony have made a decision, the teams that lost out will be lining up to create a market for Bosh.

Thus, with James waiting for Heat president Pat Riley to revamp the roster and with Dwyane Wade leaving $42 million on the table at age 32, Bosh is the member of the Big Three most likely to break away. Multiple league sources say there will be a close-to-max market for Bosh if Anthony and James stay with their respective teams. One of those people, an executive with a rival team, said the growing belief around the league is that Bosh would prefer a four-year max deal with another team to a discounted longer deal with Miami.

Any deal that Bosh and LeBron sign to stay in Miami would likely be very similar to their last ones, which included early termination provisions after the first three years. So, if James does return and Bosh agrees to take less in the first couple of years of a new contract, he’ll have the option of either collecting the rest near the end of it, or simply opting out to secure a more lucrative deal when that time comes.

Bosh has said more than once that he doesn’t want to leave Miami. But if the unexpected happens, and LeBron bolts in free agency, it would be easy to see Bosh doing the same — for max money, and without having to deal with the decision of whether or not to take a discount.

82 million? That's why these niggas are shook. 182 million? These teams don't even make 182 million.

Luol Deng meeting with Heat on Saturday
Unrestricted free agent Luol Deng will meet with the Heat on Saturday.
Pat Riley is in Chicago to meet with Deng to discuss a possible deal. He has also received interest from the Clippers and perhaps the Hawks may be the favorite to add him to their roster. If Deng joins the Heat, it will likely be at a cheaper cost and he may even come off the bench.
