~*~2014 NBA OffSeason Thread - Free Agency Starts - 7/1 12am ~*~

Adrian Wojnarowski: Miami president Pat Riley plans to meet with free agent Luol Deng in Chicago today, league source tells Yahoo. Twitter @WojYahooNBA

Though the Pelicans have been quiet so far in free agency, Demps has contacted the representatives of veteran unrestricted point guard Jameer Nelson, sources confirmed. The Pelicans have also showed interest in Rockets restricted guard Troy Daniels.

Well it might not be just Lebron who's holding Pat back!!!

Adrian Wojnarowski: For agents negotiating on free agents w/ Heat, so far impossible to get concrete offers b/c Riley doesn't have precise figures on Bosh-Wade. Twitter @WojYahooNBA

Marc Stein: We're gotten to the point in free agency where some teams in pursuit think LeBron is more likely to leave than Melo. Stunning turn of events Twitter @ESPNSteinLine

Yup...Augustine & Hill are available but I like your thinking it won't take much.

I'll be happy with Billups just to help develop Napier and Cole.

That allows you to spread the pennies out thinner  damn Mickey

Francisco Garica, Vince Carter are signable....
Jordan Hill market should be nice.

Deng likely a option if Lebron leave, he's waiting for Lebron and Melo to make their moves.

Right. I'd try and be careful with adding too many older guys who will break down by the end of the season......but if you add that one vet? I think Billups or Jameer would be nice acquistions. Billups seems like he wants to get one more year out of it.

That was the set up y'all was gonna trade him regardless if he accepted the offer :smh:

He knew we couldn't give him more than 10, so he got traded to a team that could pay him more

If the Cavs wasn't such a shit organization, he wouldn't have been so pressed to get the fuck outta there. They should've gave him the 12 mil range he was looking for.

We didn't get shit outta the deal except for getting close to under the tax line.

You know I honestly understand why every other team penny penches. A lot of these teams are LOSING money every year. So I get why they don't want to go near the luxury tax. But for the life of me I don't get why a team like the Heat are trying to do it. Unless they're also losing money?

I remember reading the Mavs lost money the year they won the championship so I guess its possible but shit you got the biggest guy in sports on your team. I would think that's not possible for them.

Hell naw. Cavs the last time that should be offering him 12 million. They played that shit right. Why waste 12 million on him when you in rebuilding mode?

Real stunning. Especially for BDR, King T, and jondoe.

Is roadrage still even alive??

Sources: For right deal, 76ers would take Lin.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...6ers-willing-trade-houston-rockets-jeremy-lin

The Philadelphia 76ers have expressed a willingness to trade for Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin depending on what sort of assets Houston is willing to attach to the deal, according to sources close to the process.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Sixers, who have ample room on their payroll to absorb Lin's contract, have emerged as a leading contender to take on Lin in a trade that sends no salary back to the Rockets, which would enable the Rockets to extend a rich offer in free agency to either Carmelo Anthony or Chris Bosh.

Sources say that the Milwaukee Bucks are another team that would consider trading for Lin if the Rockets add a sweetener or two to the deal for the privilege of shedding Lin's contract to a team that can comfortably absorb it.

It's believed that the Rockets would have to send Philadelphia at least one future first-round pick to convince the Sixers to go through with the deal, given that Lin is owed $15 million next season despite the fact that his contract will only count for $8.4 million for salary cap purposes.

Sources say that the Sixers, though, are happy to take on Lin -- despite the presence of reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams as their starting point guard -- provided that the extra asset or two they get from Houston is sufficiently attractive.

Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie is close with Rockets GM Daryl Morey after working alongside Morey before Hinkie's move to Philadelphia.

The Rockets have maintained for months that they could find trades for center Omer Asik and Lin if necessary to create the needed salary-cap space to bring in a star player this summer.

Houston has already agreed to trade Asik to New Orleans for a first-round pick after July 10, but Rockets officials have privately maintained that they would only trade Lin if they are sure that they are getting a player of Anthony's or Bosh's caliber through free agency.

ESPN.com reported Thursday that the Rockets have already begun courting Bosh in anticipation of Anthony staying with the Knicks.

Sources say that Bosh and Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki likely would have been at the top of Houston's list when free agency began had the Rockets believed they had a shot at either player. Nowitzki verbally agreed to a new deal with the Mavericks on Thursday, but the sudden uncertainty in Miami about LeBron James' willingness to stay with the Heat has raised hopes in some rival front offices that Bosh will consider leaving if James indeed decides to go elsewhere.

off title alone that's bs lol

so not landing anybody doesn't put them in trouble

and we aren't invested in the heat

the op is a heat fan majority of the updates provided are heat related we are responding to what's being presented

another warped out "us against the world" "why you worried bout us" "hater just don't wanna see us shine" assertion

Well once Bosh and Wade present their numbers, that may help...

I try to post other teams news, but Miami's topics have plenty of feedback

Nah the the MLE.. heat can give him 10 but he ain't worth that of course another team would give him that

8 stacks tops..

Heat money long but as u said the owner is a bitch and scared of that tax.. Championship teams regularly went over the cap.. But we can see the heat owner on his mark Cuban shit

Champions were always over the cap until 2012

That's when everyone started tucking their tails

I don't know what the fuck Mark Cuban think he got going

The Mavs have always operated over the cap

Always

That's how they remained competitive all these years

10+ 50 win seasons?

All over the motherfucking cap!

How else you think you gonna compete

Shit we got cap room for that shit. Ownership knows we won't be shit as we are in yr 2 of a 4 yr plan so might as well recoup some of that bread shutting Chinatown down a couple nights a week and getting some Yao Mings?! Makes a lot of sense!

Bosh wanna get paid and he should

they had him 3rd option to a dude who he's better than

had him sacrifice the most in his game and now it's time to get money. like for lebron too.

they're all 1 year apart in age

bosh and james in their primes
and wade on his last leg...

wade can take less he ain't getting max from anybody

bosh and bron?

i don't know what will happen BUT the heat aren't doing anything to keep him.

So Bosh is the bad guy now?????

Not for me... I want to point to Mickey but it is what it is....

Owners try to get more profit, while paying less money as possible to players

Players should always try to get more money

So who's the bad guy, ummmm all I can say, "Mickey your teams went to 4 straight finals, with your stars on reduced salaries!!!!"

Cuban was losing money doing that shit too but he was doing it for the cahse of the title. He got it so he good now.

Plus that luxury tax ain't what it use to be. All that shit use to do was double what you were paying your players. Now that shit be exceeding crazy numbers. Everybody don't got Proky money. These cac's were humbled by the new CBA....until free agency comes then they throw the shit right back out there to niggas like Amir Johnson and Jodie Meeks.

Damn lookin back at it now the Knicks actually made a nice call not signing Lin to the redicilous offer Houston gave him..#welcomehomeMelo

Back then I saw it as a no-brainer and if they would have signed him to such ridiculousness, I'd walked as a fan. Lin ain't shit.

James deserves his max, Bosh deserves his 12-15mil, Wade wants close to Bosh so let's say Wade wants 14mil he only gonna play half the season I'd tell his ass he gettin 7mil. I seriously think Riley and Arison scared to tell Wade the truth that his career is on a steep downhill and isn't worth what he wants cuz he only able to play half the season. If Wade takes 6-8mil that would open up a lot of money for key pieces. But u know his pride won't let him do that he needs to come off the bench as a 6th man.

I think it was actually a smart deal. He was only getting 3 to 4 million a year each year which allowed the Rockets to be players in free agency and net Dwight Howard. Then in that last year you get hit with 14 million but if a team wants to get rid of some salary for next offseason? Jeremy Lin would be a nice trade asset. That's a easy 14 million off the books.

@WojYahooNBA: Biggest issue for Miami could be this: How does it meet Bosh salary desires, and keep any real space for free agents? Crunch time for Riley.

We all know which side leaked this. I brought this up two days ago. Now u have Miami saying to keep the big three for their asking prices they won't be able to land free agents

If he was willing to go over the cap they could sign some one today.

Bosh knows there is a market for him.

Wade is a free agent and no one gives a damn. He looking at his phone like. " maybe it's on silent"

I don't think that's it, last year Riley had a face to face with DWade. It was about him changing his game. I'm sure Wade had plans to tweak it anyway, but they did meet and discussed things.
