Dirk was the No. 2 highest-paid player in the NBA last yr behind Kobe at $22.7 million. Next season he may not be in the Top 50. #teamplayer

I feel you but to add more years and more money doesn't constitute extra. It's like a dude getting 10 a year more for a job but having his hours changed from 20 to 40. Dudes not making more money. Also, with how he's platooning already I don't see anyone touching him for 5 years. He's already damaged goods and will only get worse.

Wade is not playing 5 more years. That's the thing. Yes, if he takes a 5 year deal and plays 5 years, it'sa bad move considering he's playing 3 more years for only an extra 15 million..but that's not going to happen and Miami knows that going in and surely they've discussed some "options" in terms of reworking the contracts to keep Lebron there and "take care of everyone". They'll just buy out his contract and everyone gets what they want.

Everyone including Wade knows he's not playing 4 or 5 more years.

So this the reason Melo staying on LA this weekend....
Wonder if there's any truth to this...

LAKERS Reportedly Offer Melo Max Deal

Updates from Thursday, July 3

ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne reported that the Lakers plan to offer Carmelo Anthony a contract:

Lakers made it clear to Melo today they'd offer the maximum, 4-yr, $97mil contract they can, if he chose them.
8:41 PM - 3 Jul 2014

USA Today's Sam Amick details how the Lakers proceeded with their meeting with 'Melo and if Kobe Bryant would meet with the free agent on his own:

Lakers executives Jim Buss, Jeanie Buss and Mitch Kupchak were expected to be there. There was no word on whether an empty chair would be part of the program to represent the coaching vacancy that they intentionally have left unfilled because of moments like this.

A person with knowledge of the meeting said Bryant couldn't make it but Lakers legend James Worthy was also expected to be part of the program. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the process.

Yet here's the thing about this Lakers pitch that is considered far-fetched by the rival teams also courting Anthony: He can talk to Bryant any time he wants. Anthony — whose gold medals won with Bryant in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics are the crown jewels of his professional career — has an offseason home in Los Angeles and may very well wind up chewing on his life-changing decision in Bryant's favorite city over the weekend.

Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times details how long the meeting lasted:

5:49 PM - 3 Jul 2014

David McMenamin and Shelburne of ESPN.com had more info on the meeting and when Bryant planned to speak with Melo:

Anthony was flanked by agent Leon Rose and business manager Bay Frazier as the group was greeted in the parking lot by former Lakers great James Worthy and then escorted into the building.

Kobe Bryant was not able to make it back from a family vacation in Europe in time for the meeting, according to sources. Bryant intends to meet with Anthony later Thursday evening, after Anthony's scheduled meeting with theNew York Knicks following his session with the Lakers, sources said.

The Lakers' presentation was led by team president Jeanie Buss, executive vice president of player personnel (and Jeanie's brother) Jim Buss and general manager Mitch Kupchak. It also included Lakers chief marketing officer Tim Harris and executives from Time Warner Cable SportsNet, the Lakers' television network.

NBA.com's Jeff Caplan has an update from Mark Cuban on Dallas' meeting with Carmelo Anthony:

3:05 PM - 3 Jul 2014

'Melo reportedly reached out to another superstar about teaming up in the Big Apple, according to Wojnarowski:

Hours before his final meeting with New York Knicks officials, free agent Carmelo Anthony reached out to obtain free agent Pau Gasol's phone number and discuss with him the possibility of playing together at Madison Square Garden, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Knicks had exuded an increasing confidence they can hold off the free-agent courtships of Chicago and Houston and were further encouraged with Anthony's desire to talk to Gasol about New York, sources said.

yeah it does. players have shelf life. your scenario only works if the player maintains how good he is during the contract. that's not going to happen with wade.

his option was 2 year -42 mil. after that, hes lucky to get 5. his knees are done and he probably only has a yr or two left after the 42. lets say he leaves the team hes been with his whole career for some strange reason and signs for the raptor for 2-10 mil because that's all someone is going to pay an aging player with bad knees. total worth = 52 mil

opts out, restructures for lets say 5-52 mil he would be lucky to make it to year 5, and when he reaches the 3rd or 4th year, no way hes worth 10 mil, but that's what he's going to get. otherwise there will be a lucrative buyout and he can have a front desk job in Miami.

all this is on paper btw. billionaires have shares, inside info, offshore accounts, accesses, jets, etc.

wade is the least likely to go.

Lakers offered Melo MAX contract

Good to see the frailty of this Big 3 BS finally being exposed. Was a good run, but ultimately it cripples an organization and once it runs it's course it's not pretty, as we all saw by the way the Spurs, with a collection of nicely fitted parts, literally destroyed and humiliated the Heat, with all their star power.

Hopefully GMs will wake up behind this...

Bron's agent to meet with Suns, Mavs, Rockets, & Cavs. Shit's getting interesting.

I said when Riley got on tv like Eddie King Jr. it was a mistake.

It was a fatal mistake.

You calling out the best player in the world... why is anyone going to come play for you for cheap?

Playing with James just isn't enough. These young dudes need MONEY they can hang on and chase a ring 10 years from now but they can't get anymore paydays

as far as melo we'll see.

does he care about playing with lebron or does he care about getting money from phil.

Phil did the same thing to melo the difference is the knicks actually ain't tripping about spending money.. he could sign his max and have lebron come in a season when they have the money to sign him.

More like Please are being copped. :please:

Just because they offer him the most doesn't mean he'll take it. I still see Chicago and LA as the leaders

Melo isn't going no where. look at the Knicks plan they met with him last and basically said "You can have the max" that was the fucking pitch :lol::lol:

They know Melo. Look ever since he came in the league every one of Melo moves has been about getting the most money. The only way he was going to leave if Phil offer him less to stay on a losing team when he could take that same amount and go win.

Thing is once he signs that contract it's a wrap for the Knicks cap wise. You see what Miami is going through right now and how the Lakers offering him the max today would cripple them.

Same thing here.

Melo isn't going no where

To be honest I'm not too concerned on whether Melo resigns or not. Knicks situation isn't as dire as a lot of people are making it out to be. Yeah this coming season will not be a competitive one but they will have a 1st rd draft pick as well as plenty of cap space. It's a major market so it will be attractive to plenty of free agents and gives Phil an opportunity to fully clean house & bring in his own image for the roster. I just wanna see what moves Phil makes going into the 2015/2016 season.

that's bullshit.

they went to 4 finals in 4 years and won 2 championships.

they have faced 3 different teams in the finals..

it doesn't cripple an organization

the big 3 did what parker ginobli and duncan did

what crippled the heat is that pat riley ain't shit as a gm.

if one of these other gm's..shit if stan van gundy was the gm all this shit would be moot. they'd be signed again and probably be working on a 4 peat.

In Riley's defense, if the rich Jew bastard orders you to cut, you cut. Remember the rumors when Lebron was displeased with the rich jew? Turns out they are more than true. He basically said :hmm: "MAX" and left the country.

It's like Bernie Mac from Bad Santa with "Half". That's the meeting with Riley and Mick....and with Bosh and Wade....

He got Wade Bosh and lebron james making less than they should.

there are so many dudes who WEREN'T shit when this run started that they could've gotten in on the ground floor with it's a shame..

they could've gotten patty mills

Lowry was a damn journeyman

Green for phoenix had been given up on 3 or 4 times

I'm not saying he should have seen ALL of them I'm just saying he ain't get not 1 of them. Not 1 of nobody.. he was being cute

yea we'll get these dudes that had a name but kind of fell off for the MLE and then we gone win...

no

do some fucking work

like this bullshit bout certain players were never targets

yea cause they out of your price range
which is also why your team is going to be fucked
you gotta pay to play

could you imagine of proky was able to wrestle presti or buford or the trailblazers gm or the wizards gm away from them and gave them an empty check book?

If you use up 75plus percent of your cap space, it cripples the team. And thats where they are now, which is why AGAIN they have to look at a bunch of C Class free agents instead of impact ones. And they did NOT do what TD, Parker and Manu did, they had a nice 4 year run, BUT the Spurs have been on a 17 season run... You're comparing a sprint to a marathon Bro.

You will get some success obviously, but once the wheels start falling off (Wade), you have to deal with loyalty, etc. which will hamstring and cripple an organization once the BIG 3 players aren't enough to push you over the top... :hmm:

Even if you resign all 3 now, they are not enough to win a chip by themselves, and the pieces they can afford wont be much better than last years crop. It's not like the Spurs pulled out a squeaker Bruh, they arguably outplayed them in both series, but this year, they totally dominated them!

You really need to get a grip on yourself Bro! And Bills didn't do shit but offer a different view point which I can appreciate, so put your Pom Poms down. Making an honest assessment on how I see things! Understand this Dude, I come in here to Bullshit with you guys, fuck around and talk shit, but all this 'salty' shit?!?! Unlike people like you, I'm not emotionally attached to this shit, teams, LeBron none of that shit so you should really calm the fuck down. I could give two fucks where any of these motherfuckers go to be honest, I just enjoy the back and forth dialog...

I agree....but this comes down to both the owner and Riley. Owner should have gave Riley the money. At the same time, Riley should have prepared for the cheapness.

Remember the Cavs problem of keeping Lebron happy? Seems like it might be happening again in Miami. Perhaps Lebron didn't want to deal with development. Maybe Lebron was running the show all along.

If that's the case, @ that Napier shit.....

And Bills, explain to me again how, if you sign all three Dudes it literally takes up 70 percent of the cap, and all of the major free agents won't sign for peanuts, it doesn't cripple the organization? LeBron threw the fly in the ointment, when all year Heat Fans were talking that He will take less to get the pieces around him bullshit, by demanding Max money, which he deserves.

That's why I appreciate Dudes like TD, who have for years sacrificed for his things, not 'renting' themselves but being committed. So, the Heat can't sign anybody that makes a real impact, so... if that's not crippled by the cap due to the 'Big 3' then please do me a favor and explain what is

Afford?

And TD taking half of what he could have gotten didn't help free up the money to do that, get the best player around TD and Co. Do a comparison on the salaries of the top 5 players from the Spurs and from the Heat and figure the math. It's not just the GM, the GM can only do what he does if he has the flexibility to do it, and wasting 70 of the cap on 3 players is not bright and will only work short term. Now the Spurs organization do a great job scouting, but you still have to pay people and they aren't hamstrung.

Spurs top 5 salaries total in 2014: 43 Million (big 3 - 29 million)
Heat top 5 salaries total in 2014: 74 million (big 3 - 59 million)

:hmm:

LeBron James has begun to assess teams outside the Miami Heat that have expressed an interest in signing him in free agency, a source close to the process told FOX Sports Ohio on Wednesday.

James has not visited with any suitors, and sources said interested parties have been unable to connect with him directly. Instead, James is havingCleveland-based agent Rich Paul conduct behind-the-scenes talks based on James' preferences.

The source told FOX Sports Ohio that James is not likely to go through the meet-and-greet scenarios of 2010, when he entered free agency as a member of the Cavs. Instead, the source said when James does reach a decision, he will make it known in a manner "that is likely to be bam, this is where I'm going."
