~*~2014 NBA OffSeason Thread - Free Agency Starts - 7/1 12am ~*~

5years? Wade wont last 3 bro. I don't know wtf these cats are talking about. And neither do they. Any business offer you guaranteed dollars that aren't tied to performance you take it. Period.

But it's not his call if he signs the contract.

You don't get that.

He can't just say, I'm out.

Steve Nash, you're hurt, why are you playing next year and not just retiring? Because I want my money.

Nash only played in 10 games last year and he can't just say, Oh I'm out, retired, pay me.

What makes you think Wade will be able to say, in 3 years, yeah, I'm out pay me?

As long as the Heat feel like a few minutes of Wade in the playoffs is worth more to them than paying him to go away his ass will be sitting on the pine or whatever else they tell him to do. I don't think you know what signing a contract means.

True, but how much more? 2 years on the pine to make 8 while Lebronze leaves and you miss the playoffs?

Nah, give me the 42.

It also depends on whether or not Wade wants a front-office job after retiring. Miami will be paying him for a long time. He'll get the money. It's still a huge risk to opt-out of that much money but he has a history with Miami. Amare wouldn't do some shit like that with the Knicks because he knows he would be gone in a hot minute.

Unless Lebron really did Debo these cats, he's knows he's going to get over long-run.

But Duncans team used the money to sign players and compete for a title. Mavs aint competing for shit but a 5th seed and 2nd round exit. Cuban is a bitch. Dirk deserved more. No one is coming to play with him so they don't need the cap space.

Agreed

I honestly think Wade calls it a career in 2 years. His body gonna be done and Miami won't be competitive most likely unless Lebron does stick around long term. He's not going to come off the bench anywhere and he doesn't need to ring chase at the end of his career. Two more long seasons and it's over for wade unless some miraculous medical advances happen for knee transplants.

All the more reason to take the 2 years 40 mill

but if he gets 56 million over 5 that's an extra 16 and Wade is not playing until he's 37. It would be a way for the Heat to keep Lebron and legally pay Wade under the table.

I hear what you guys are saying but surely Wade/his agent discussed the options with the front office before opting out.

But wont he still count against the cap? The only way you do this is if you think Bron is going to bounce in 2 years.

Lakeshow has Nash on deck for 9 mil this year and he's more done than Wade will ever be. Not a good look.

Wade better get part ownership of the team when he walks away

He's the reason Bosh and Lebron went to South Beach...not Riley

He's the reason the value of the franchise went up in the past four years

I think Miami knows Lebron is eventually going to bounce and two years is the Max he's staying regardless. They have no draft picks coming, an aging and injury-proned player in Wade, and an owner who has clearly illustrated he's not going to consistently pay a high luxury tax solely to win "more" titles.

I could be wrong though... that's just my thought but shit..i dont know.. a week ago i would have said Lebron way definitely coming back for another couple of years but now i wouldn't be surprised if he bounced.

Dirk back with the Mavs

3 years 30 mill

A loyal fool

Sure is. Definitely is good for 20 or more points and can put a few teams over. It's still not as bad as leaving $42 million on the table. The way things are looking now that was a bad, bad, bad move.

I thought he was coming back. Once the others opted out, I just knew the 1% chance the Cavs had of signing him was done.

Then people started signing contracts. And folks ain't buying what Riley is selling. He is going to have to go with aging players(which worked when Wade was healthy).

Never thought Lebron would end up in Houston or elsewhere, but it's looking like a much better option than Miami.

He's probably thinking a lot about the difficulty of going out west because you've got land-mines all out there..you gotta win 50 games to get the damn 8th seed out west...lol.. but yeah.. his future with Houston could be better than with Miami...but who knows man.. gonna be interesting to see how this plays out....

I could see Bosh going back to texas. Play with Dwight and Harden? That would be an impressive squad. Inside/outside play. Would be tough in a 7 game series if coached right.

Pens ain't getting touched until the big homie says they get touched. :smh: If any one going to Houston, the big homie got first dibs.

If he doesn't play out the deal he won't get the money

Why you think Steve Nash didn't retire?

He said flat out he wants the money

I feel you but to add more years and more money doesn't constitute extra. It's like a dude getting 10 a year more for a job but having his hours changed from 20 to 40. Dudes not making more money. Also, with how he's platooning already I don't see anyone touching him for 5 years. He's already damaged goods and will only get worse.

Bruh, I don't care what any of these cats say with their forced buyouts, medical retirements or any of that shit. Give me my 42 mil over 2 and I'll figure out the rest.

melo is staying in New York...
he is supposedly recruiting Pau Gasol to come and play in NY
plus LaLa loves NY......

Too many hypotheticals

One thing we know for sure is he has 42 million coming to him in 2 seasons worth of time

Nash has no relationship with the Lakers. It's not the same scenario as Wade with Miami. He's a lifer. They've been known to take care of players who've devoted their career to the franchise. He takes a restructured deal and it's enough to get Lebron back.. they're going to take care of him. When those knees give out completely, they'll buy out his contract and give him a front-office job if he wants it.

Not saying it was the smart thing to do.. but surely Wade and his agent discussed this and they determined it was a good career and financial decision to do it.
