Rebound by committee plus on offensive rebounds the Heat don't empahsize the shit like normal teams, their philosophy appears to be making sure they take the high % shot then getting back to make sure they don't give up the high % shots. This approach to the game makes them a very unorthodox team to deal with and is the reason why they tend to put up some funky numbers in the box score..

Funny if you really study the Heat defense they don't actually play anybody man to man, they almost play a zone, where the only difference is usually the people in the low zone don't rotate up top... But during crucial parts of the game they change things up by throwing James on a player that needs to be clamped down on.. And he has made a killing clamping down on some big name players during crunch time.
Notice how discombobulated their defense looked when he was not able to play during crunch time in both the Indiana game with the fouls and the cramp game..

The offensive opportunities would suffer, but defense could make up for this missed chances.

True I was taught and taught the kids I coach that when you play zone make it seem like man, and our man to man looked like a zone...we only saw it ran right a couple of times, but it's a beauty.
