That didnt take long...Mark Jackson heads back to the mothership .....

Carmelo Anthony's people let it be known that he preferred Mark Jackson as the head coach. Knickdidn't even look in Jackson Direct direction Melo has to leave
You can't do everything to placate a player. What if you get the coach he wants and he leaves anyway?

His contract was up.

Damn so this is really another Lionell Hollins situation :smh:

Melo should leave but I don't think he will

Phil is stubborn and is about to do this HIS WAY that would be cool if he was actually the head coach but since he is not we don't know how is is going to go

And Melo doesn't have time to find out

the funny part is people automatically assumed that phil knew what he's doing
It's still early.

You guys are killing me because it's not even the offseason.

I agree with whoever said that Phil just have Kerr some attention to help him land his first job, and drive his price up. And can you blame Kerr for wanting to take a job that was closer to home and for a better team? Who here wouldn't take that?

Next year is a toss up. It's damn near a throwaway if the Knicks want to be players in 2015 free agency. They'll explore trades using Amare's expiring as well as any others, but they should look to keep first round picks.

It's going to be a wasted year in the end as they won't be contending. From Isaiah until now, the Knicks haven't exercised ANY patience in building a team. And people still want phil to rush and just grab the first available coach.

Fisher being in coaching comversations is hilarious

I thought he wanted to be "with his family" so much

That's only the excuse he uses when he wants to get out of situations he doesn't like

Mark Jackson didn't have experience and he was hired. He just has one year.
The fact of the matter is, phil wants to coach but he doesn't want to coach full time.

By implementing one of his guys, he'll be able to institute his system, and have an impact on the team. He wants to groom a coach, play the Godfather role, give out inspirational books and shit. I think he's earned that right by this point.

Mark Jackson won't use Phil's system, he'll use his own. and he shouldn't have to use Phil's system- going to NY would just be a headache for everyone.

The Knicks need an identity as much as they need players and coaching. They haven't had one since the 90s, and that was the last successful period they had.

I like Derek Fisher as a coach. I think he has leadership potential and commands respect. He's won titles and has done it playing a significant role on the court and in the locker room.

Wouldn't you want to run a team the way you want. Or do you think people on a message board who've never played, never won would be better at doing YOUR job?

Let this shit play out. Way too many people are jumping the gun.

good post (especially coming from you)

Yea he bounced on y'all ass famo

And the rockets

And the jazz

And the warriors

Edit: i see the Knicks will be using a former bull for head coach.

Lol @ this backhanded compliment.

I'm not even mad, I don't even take this place seriously enough to engage like this.

You know how many times I type out a long ass post like that and just hit delete because it's not even worth the time?

you took it the wrong way

its not the seriousness of the matter, its simply that you and i rarely agree on anything around here

My response had nothing to do with Kerr.

My response has to do with the moves he's made so far, and the things he's said.

Also again, we just assume he knows what he's doing when this is his first time doing it.

I ain't say he can't do it, or he's a failure. I just said we assume he can, when we have no proof he can.

Damn it seemed to be a perfect fit to have the NYC kid, with experience, come home and turn the team around.

Phil is fucking up with his nepotism in house shit. Still can't believe someone gave Kerr all that cash to coach.

man me and BDR been telling these folks that Phil now has to show and prove.

So far Phil has

Fired people which is understandable

Signed Lamar Odom....which has to be a way to help Lamar on Dolan's dime

Swung and missed on his choice of coach.

Plans to ask Melo to take a pay cut.

Must find a team to take Raymond Felton.

Phil is trying to get him and his boys paid and roll out....because when its all said and done he will just say hey 11 rings...fuck I gotto worry bout..my legacy safe

We'll see if he actually cares. Right now it looks like he had done enough fishing and swimming with luc longley and was bored.
So why not get $60 million to move pieces around in new york city.

If it works you're a god, if it doesn't it's the owner's fault for not allowing phil to truly work.

Exactly.

I haven't heard shit about his daughter or family since he left Utah.

Oh well. Now we get to hear. "Mama There go That man" and" Paaawl Pierce on the flaw" non stop.

First of all hiring Phil Jackson was the worst thing the Knicks could do a guy who basically is a west coast guy trying to shake up a organizaton that has been dysfunctional for decades....They all are salivating at Phil Jackson ending up coaching the knicks but that is so unrealistic i heard somebody on sports radio basically say phil should coach for a year...that organization cannot change because of great coaching they need a good team like how brooklyn has then coaching can help.....hell they told Felton he's done :itsawrap:

So let's debate that then. What has he done or said that you think is stupid?

You're making the assumption that Phil Jackson cares about money first and foremost. That he has no competitive nature or a desire to succeed.

What he wanted most of all was to be put in a position of power. He feels he can succeed away from the bench and this is his opportunity. To this point all he's done is conduct a coaching search and signed lamar odom.

In today's NBA, Max contract players who are SERIOUS about winning titles being the most important thing HAVE to take pay cuts in order to fit another max or near max player around them. That is a FACT.

So Carmelo will have to take less for the Knicks to be able to become a title contender quicker.

Wait, are people really shitting on PJax already?! He hasn't had a draft yet niggas!

First, the Kerr shit is a blessing, it established that Phil has parameters and boundaries when making deals. He knew guys like Jason Kidd and Mark Jackson got $2M a season with no experience. Even in dealing with his boy, Kerr had no experience so why make him the third highest paid coach in the league? Other than being Phil's guy, what has he shown other than a failed tenure in Phoenix to be worth that bread? Y'all niggas would have laughed if we matched that deal, now it's a Fail?

Second, Phil's objective is to establish respectability and an identity. You niggas with this short sighted vision don't get it: the Knicks didn't pay $60M for five years of Phil's service, they paid for the Phil Jackson brand and legacy that will remain associated with the team past his departure. Phil will groom his guys and eventually they will take over later.

Nothing so far has been an obviously bad move.

It's a very short sighted approach in this thread.

MY GOD...

He just FUCKIN GOT HERE!!!!… :hmm:

BDR's Knicks hatred has him talking sooo foolish sometimes that he damn near goes FULL RETARD whenever they are brought up.

Let's not forget, BDR once said Lin was worth 14mil.

Bottom line… Phil's true test will come in 2015…

That's when he'll be able to make a REAL splash through the draft and free agency.

Nah Bruh, his first true text will be the first real disagreement he has with Dolan and Dolan over rules his ass... All due respect I still feel he is overrated as a coach as well. All the talent he stayed inheriting I coulda coached those teams to a chip with that shit. And what did he really do? Tex Winter designed the triangle... I hope he does come back and coach these Knicks, THEN we will see what type of coach he really is...

Two years ago you gave me shit when I said the Knicks would respond well after whatever number injury Amar'e had that off-season and you admittedly were wrong. Same rationale here.

All I'm saying is that because so many people like to laugh at the Knicks they are perpetually between a rock and hard place scenario. Which is exactly why they got Phil! No more overpaying for talent, more getting fleeced in trades, no more patchwork get rich quick schemes.

The Knicks Fucking Suck, they have to burn the entire bitch down and rebuild or become the Nets. Who would you rather have pressing the detentator James Dolan or Phil Jackson? Exactly.
