Mark Jackson returns to ESPN

Former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson has reached a multiyear agreement to return to ESPN as an NBA game analyst.

Mark Jackson will return to ESPN as an NBA game analyst, reuniting with Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy.

Jackson will work Sunday during ESPN's telecast of of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers.

Jackson will join play-by-play commentator Mike Breen and fellow analyst Jeff Van Gundy, reuniting the trio that broadcast the NBA Finals for five consecutive years starting in 2011.A former All-Star point guard during his 17-year career as a player, Jackson was fired by the Warriors earlier this month following the team's first-round playoff loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Warriors have hired Steve Kerr, another analyst without coaching experience.

The Warriors went 51-31 this season under Jackson, posting their best record since 1991-92.

Jackson went 121-109 in three seasons with Golden State, which reached the postseason each of the last two years. He had been mentioned as a possible candidate for the New York Knicks' vacant head coaching position.

somebody at ESPN needs to learn to count

Shit he might not even go back to coaching until that free money the warriors about to have to pay him runs out

Mark looked at the bird in the hand and was like, "Fuck searching for a job." Plus, he can break that at any time I'm sure. With so many former players , it is hard to keep a job at ESPN. But, they had the guarantee and there was no guarantee of an NBA job that didn't look like horseshit (Cavaliers) that would have led to him being fired anyway.

Funny, both the Cavs and the Browns fired their coaches after only one season.

And does anyone wonder why they stay losing?

hell he was very good at that job anyway

he and van gundy had great chemistry

I swear FO' GAWD!!!!!

If they hire Luke Walton… I'M OUT!!!!!!

:itsawrap:

melo has to leave

that is one dysfunctional organization

mark was the best coach out there, a ny native, and they didnt even look his way

the triangle cannot be that important

Phil is all about hiring one of his boys and things like experience don't matter at all.

Phil is gonna suck as a basketball executive.

It's way too early to past judgement on Phil.

He hasn't even gone through his first draft yet.

We don't know what he is yet… :dunno:

Yeah… I know… but… I still wanted Mark to coach the team.

Werd! Went to college with him, real good Dude. Plus, I think if he was the coach, he would have a better shot at drawing players to the team the Phil! From the love the GS Players showed him, that shit goes a long way I believe.

I think Phil is gonna fuck this team up, trying to turn it into Chicago Bulls circa '90s-East... Between his ego and Dolans, shit will not end well IMO... :smh:

I know the team has my man Van fucked up... Dude hasn't posted an emoticon since Nov 3rd, 2013...

:tut:

I'm at peace with the bullshit… BUT… I DRAW THE LINE AT LUKE WALTON.

I DO NOT TRUST SONS OF NBA PLAYERS, COACHES OR OWNERS… :smh:

If he wants to hire Walton as an asst. coach… COOL… NO PROBLEM!!!!

But head coach???

FUCK THAT!!!!

:thefinger:

I feel you Bruh! EVERYONE has their breaking point, and should get a pass when their team crosses that shit! I was ALMOST there with my Sixers, but I'm cool now because it's obviously our management has a plan...

Carmelo Anthony's people let it be known that he preferred Mark Jackson as the head coach. Knickdidn't even look in Jackson Direct direction Melo has to leave

Mark Jackson didn't have experience and he was hired. He just has one year.
The fact of the matter is, phil wants to coach but he doesn't want to coach full time.

By implementing one of his guys, he'll be able to institute his system, and have an impact on the team. He wants to groom a coach, play the Godfather role, give out inspirational books and shit. I think he's earned that right by this point.

Mark Jackson won't use Phil's system, he'll use his own. and he shouldn't have to use Phil's system- going to NY would just be a headache for everyone.

The Knicks need an identity as much as they need players and coaching. They haven't had one since the 90s, and that was the last successful period they had.

I like Derek Fisher as a coach. I think he has leadership potential and commands respect. He's won titles and has done it playing a significant role on the court and in the locker room.

Wouldn't you want to run a team the way you want. Or do you think people on a message board who've never played, never won would be better at doing YOUR job?

Let this shit play out. Way too many people are jumping the gun.
