Random Question for Bald Guys Who Work Out A Lot

You can tell the people who never go to a gym :smh:

Great minds......;)

Well I get it... It shouldn't be about looking cool but I work out at corporate gym at work and having a towel on my head to keep my "urban" headphones dry is not exactly the best look. Lol! And like many have said in here, ear buds don't work for everyone and in fact in the past I've had ear buds that irritate inside of my ear. Bottom line, reason for rocking beats headphones at gym is cuz the sound is good and that pushes you to train harder. No way can I stay on a treadmill for 60 + minutes without loud headphones with heavy bass...

Sometimes I wonder at what point did some of you "corporate negros" lose your manhood. :smh:

if not wanting to stand out wearing du-rags and towels on my head at my corporate gym that is frequented by fellow lawyers and other executives i work with = losing my manhood then you got it bro because given your comment i can damn near guarantee that i'm making more money and doing better in life than you! *richard sherman voice*

you go ahead and keep your so-called "manhood" and street cred... if you like it, i love it.

btw, you got any advice on headphones, headbands, or gym accessories or you just here to troll?

some earphones irritate inside of people's ears and you also can't get the same sound quality and bass from earphones compared to headphones.

There are good in earphones that have bass, amazing clean bass.

They just cost a lot of money and are hard to audition.

No getting around irritation inside the ears, especially during work out.

Good luck

First off let me answer your initial question...

I sweat pretty heavy while I'm in the gym, so I wear a basic black headband and wear earbuds. That combo works very well for me cause it absorbs the sweat and keeps the earbuds in place.

Now let me address your other points...

YOU ARE IN A FUCKIN GYM. Corporate owned or not, it's not the boardroom or even your office. You need to do what's best for YOU to cool off and stay as comfortable as possible while working out.

Let me ask you this...Do you change out of your suit to workout? I bet you do. Why... because you're in a fuckin gym to workout, not give quarterly reports.

What difference does it make if you have a towel, do-rag, or any thing else to keep your urban heaphones dry?

HOLD UP...WAIT A MINUTE...WHAT THE FUCK ARE "URBAN HEADPHONES"??????

Ohhh those are the headphones for the "colored boys from hood" that gives your white colleagues and even worse the other coons at your establishment the impression you're probably from the ghetto and only got that job via affirmative action.

Big headphones + a doo-rag/towel on your head while around white people, EVEN JUST WHILE WORKING OUT :smh: my bad what was I thinking?

NEWS FLASH "brother" they are still gonna talk about you, pay you less, and fire you first no matter what you do.

This is only one reason why we cannot get ahead as a race in 2014 because of this type of mentality from within.

Whitey just sits back and laughs at you as he comes into your corporate gym with cut-off jeans, a Metallica shirt, and a bandana around his head.

You know what...I may be totally off base with my assessment of this situation so let me ask you this real question...Does your corporate gym have a dress code policy?

The JayBird Gear BlueBuds X Bluetooth wireless earphones have a compact, lightweight design, fit securely, and sound good for Bluetooth headphones. They're also sweat-resistant and have an inline remote and microphone for making calls.

Appreciate the feedback re staying dry at the gym. Don't really see the need of getting into a debate about my blackness or manhood on an anonymous message board. I've been on this lawyer grind since I was 25 in 2005 and the way I approach interactions with others (regardless of their race) has worked just fine for me and contrary to what you think I have advanced professionally because I work hard and do my job well and strongly doubt I will be the first fired ever. Btw the reference to "urban" headphones was a joke and I feel you on the need to feel comfortable at the gym but there's a time and a place for everything. Du-rags were created to be a hair accessory to be worn at night or at home so for that reason I've never rocked a du-rag at the gym, the store or anywhere outside my house... But that's just me.

You're a bit off base with how "whitey" dresses at the corporate gym but all good. If conforming (to a certain extent) to how others dress (at the gym or in the office) instead of displaying individuality (in the name of being comfortable) is the mentality that is keeping blacks from advancing, that is definitely news to me. To answer your question there is no formal dress code because we are mature enough to be self-policing and know what is appropriate and what isn't. Now I'm not saying rocking a du-rag or towel on your head is inappropriate. The purpose of this thread was to hear other options and that's exactly what has happened. One brother has shared about some monster headphones that are waterproof and others have chimed in that headbands and skull caps can be helpful.

I appreciate your words but every brother has their own approach to navigating this white corporate America grind. Not saying that my way is right but my way works for me. It is possible to maintain your blackness and manhood while having the awareness of when it is in your best interest to not diverge greatly from how others act or in this case dress.

Situations like yours make me glad I obtained college degrees within the technology and education fields with the end goal of being a business owner.

Good luck to you navigating the corporate maze.

Mofo has to justify his pussification somehow.

Homie said "urban headphones"

Them same white executives daughters all up on youtube twerking in their bedroom to "urban music"

If given a chance, these safe negroes would wear styrofoam to work

Call it what you want... Tap dancing, shoe shining, whatever you want. All I know is that I know exactly who I am, the history of my people, am a member of the greatest fraternity in the world, give back to "our" community, and likely will be a partner at a major law firm by the time you hit 40,000 posts on BGOL. Keep posting ignorant foolery and I'll be sure to come back and let you know how I'm navigating corporate America in my "Sammy Davis" tap dance shoes. Clearly your illustrious career provides you the opportunity to post as much as you do.

Cuz they want to?

Dudes on BGOL stay worrying about other people, but when you see their pics, they look corny ass shit...and it all comes together...

You can get in-ear Beats. I can't understand working out with some hot-ass headphones on, sweating them out and shit. And I bet they stank too!

Example of someone who doesn't go to the gym and doesn't work out.

you look like a supreme dumbass with those big headphones on. earbuds were made for the gym/running, headphones are for home, Holmes:lol::smh:

I wear Nike or Under Armour skullcaps. Keeps the sweat out of my face, and I go beast mode every time I hit the gym. I have several.

Sure you do buddy, keep benching your 100lbs

I'm sorry, why will anyone workout with those big ass Beats headphones.

Another example

Why do you care?

What are y'all saying? Just get a headband and all problems will be solved. I can't speak for other but I'm definitely not new to hitting the gym.

I don't really sweat profusely besides the summer, but headband works for me though

Problem solved! Simple Adidas headband did the trick. Keep my head and the headphones way more dry than ever before. Thanks for all the suggestions in this thread.

If a towel works, then just roll with that!!! When at the gym, the most important thing is the success of my work out.

I'm mean...if you trying to mack some hoes, provided you see some, I doubt a chick will dismiss you ultimately based on using a sweat-towel for your head.
