Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom

The Great performances from Idris Elba as Nelson Mandela and Naomie Harris as Winnie Madikizela-Mandela,surpass
any stiffness in the screenplay for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.Im so glad they didnt go down the oh he was a saint all
of his life path, instead this is a warts and all biopic displaying the faults and victories of the South African President.

Scale of 1-10 an 8½

Enjoyed The Wolf of Wall Street. We checked it out Sunday evening and it lived up to the hype, as expected. Loud, crass, in-your-face, driven-by-greed ... definitely an interesting time from 1987 onward ... sex, drugs, rock-n-roll & plenty of $$$. Nice to see all the T&A. Another strong effort from Scorsese, DiCaprio, and company. The blonde chick would get it. Jonah Hill with those big-ass caps on his teeth - classic comedy. Good performance from him too. There aren't many dull moments throughout the 3 hours, and like others have said ... the first 1 hour, 30 mins definitely fly by given all the fast-paced shit

Despite being panned by critics and shit ... and getting all the attention at the Razzies ... I actually enjoyed Grown Ups 2. Won free tickets to the first one's screening a few years back, and just wanted some dumb laughs with this one & got them via BGOL rental.

- The CGI deer in the 1st scene
- Salma Hayek's titties & cleavage
- The kid spittin' rhymes with the receding hairline
- Numerous SNL cameos
- Stone Cold Steve Austin
- Again ... Salma's titties
- Aly Michalka would get fucked
- Taylor Lautner, Milo Ventimiglia & their asshole college lacrosse posse
- Shaq as a cop
- The inflatable raft inside of K-Mart
- The fuckpiece ballet teacher

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Chris Pine is now the fourth actor to portray Tom Clancy's CIA analyst Jack Ryan, and he does a fine job as the man who always
finds himself in the middle of the action.

The film does suffer from a been there done that feel, and some moments are just to conveinient, but it is boosted
by a dry Kevin Costner as Ryans CIA mentor,Keira Knightley's charm and beauty and Director and co star Kenneth Branagh as villain
Viktor Cherevin, and some slick action sequences.
There is also a Bond like feel flowing through the film which isnt a bad thing.
I half expected the villain to say:No Mr.Bon.....i mean...Mr.Ryan i expect you to die!!!

Thanks for the intel, JB. There are a handful of contests currently running out there for Jack Pine presently. Getting my entries in. Gonna watch Captain Phillips tonight. Enjoying the current season of True Detective (2 episodes in).

Okay, I've seen quite a few. I'll just list them and rate them. I don't have quite the track record on BGOL as JB or Helico, but if anyone wants in depth analysis of any of them (I'm pretty good and fair), then I can add them here or just PM me.

Here we go:

American Hustle (2013) - 9/10 (Great performances by everyone)

Lone Survivor (2013)- 8/10 (Brutal action, great acting:yes:)

Captain Phillips (2013) - 7/10 (rating would have been higher, but movie seemed slightly out of line with actual accounts of the story)

12 Years a Slave (2013) - 7/10 (Brutally honest)

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013) - 6/10 (I really wanted and tried to like it, but I just didn't)

The Reeds (2010) - 5/10

Lost Highway (1997) - 4/10 (Just plain weird)

Contracted (2013) - 4/10

Near Dark (1987) - 4/10

Her (2013) - ? (I have to view this one again - sorry)

The next few flicks on the list to see include:

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (I'm becoming a huge fan of Chris Pine)

Grudge Match (Just want to see Kevin Hart overact . . . oh, and I've seen every DeNiro movie)

Ride Along (Same as above)

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Love Ben Stiller's writing . . . well, mostly)

I guess I'll be back in about a week or so with the ratings.:)

keep your eyes peeled for ex porn-ho Alia Janine in a 5 second uncredited cameo

Man, I watched this pansy ass, pussy-assed, beta male boolshit. These grass-eating, skinny jean-wearing, hipster bitch made she-men really irk the fuck outta me. That pathetic cracker could have fucked a few chicks but would rather have jacked off in a pretend relationship with his damn operating system.
Its the future. Men, this is what your sons will grow up to be if you don't raise them.
That shit reminded me of Dennis Leary's rant in Demolition man:

I did like that Alien Child game, tho. That shit had me rollin'!

thanks for your list Ansa

After you watch CP HF see if you agree that Hanks was snubbed in the best actor category this year

Respect. I do think you're overreacting just a bit since it is just a movie at the end of the day.lol

Nah, but I think I feel you. I can definitely see where you're coming from. I didn't even know what to rate it because I still don't know how I feel about the damn movie. The concept is great. The screenplay is great. The acting is great. But it still missed with me. I didn't connect with anyone or the movie itself. I get what it was trying to say (for the most part), but I just don't think I liked it. I was downright bored at one point before things got interesting again.

I'm going to reserve rating it until I see it again. It's one of those movies where you'll end up seeing something or hearing something new every time you see it. I'll get a chance to see it again in a few weeks. I'll come back with a rating then.

We really enjoyed the movie, JB. Great performances from both co-leads. They each deserved award noms, no doubt. Intense ... once the action started to pick up, it basically didn't left off for the entirety.

I hear you, JB. The thing is everyone can't win the Oscar (since that's the highest) in one year. There are always going to be a number of great performances, and somebody is going to get snubbed every year. It's unfortunate. Hanks has got his in his trophy case.

How about a guy like DiCaprio? Dude should have won a few of them by now. Will Smith? Shit, has Streep taken one home yet with as many brilliant performances as she's had? It's hard because I agree that Hanks gave an amazing performance. On the other hand, he always does. I think you know what I'm trying to say, though. I agree that Hanks gave an amazing performance, though.

I agree Dicaprio should win this year that was such a wide ranging performance in Wolf of Wall Street

I think the cool thing about DiCaprio is that he's proven himself for some 20+ years now. He was decent on Growing Pains back in the day playing a younger role. Got all that notoriety with the teenybopper / Tiger Bear-type crowd. Drew international acclaim and girls' panties for Titanic (back around 1996), and so on. But shit ... homie's been on fire otherwise. Roles like Blood Diamond / Catch Me if You Can / The Basketball Diaries / What's Eating Gilbert Grape? / This Boy's Life / Gangs of New York / The Departed / The Aviator / Inception / Django Unchained / The Wolf ... homie's got acting chops as evidenced by playing roles younger & older ... with serious subject matter. I hope he hangs around in the game for decades to come as it'll be interesting to see which roles he locks down (as he's nearly 40 now).

Some movies I've seen recently definitely worth watching:

We're the Millers - Funny as shit

Saving Mr. Banks

Both of the new Star Treks

Rocky Balboa - I know it came out a while ago, but I just got around to it.

Wolf of Wall Street - Epic

Yeah - watched that We're The Millers a month or two back. It had some predictable and formulaic shit, but some genuinely funny moments. The teenage boy singing TLC's "WATERFALLS" while they're driving along in the RV? That shit was one of the funniest clips I've seen in a few years. Had to play that back

Just got around to watching this a few days ago. All I can say is, DAMN!!
I have not seen Spike Lee's version, and after watching this, I do not think I want to.
Some movies just do not need to be remade, and this was one of them.

American Hustle - we watched it yesterday and liked it. It runs just over 2 hours ... good to see Lawrence, Cooper, and Deniro in another David O. Russell project. Solid performances from all the leads & co-leads. Really enjoyed the 2nd hour and the score/soundtrack was a fun listen (late-70s). Big ups to Amy Adams ... enjoyed her cleavage throughout. Lol @ the mop of "hair" on Christian Bale's dome.

Blue Is the Warmest Colour

Blue Is the Warmest Colour is erotic, one of the best films about self discovery, and the ups and downs
of being in a relationship.Be warned BITWC earns its NC-17 rating. At 3 hours the film does feel drawn out
at times and 40 minutes could have been cut from the film. The performances are bold and genuine and its
one of the best films of 2013.

Scale of 1-10 an 8½

Your welcome bro.Im eagerly awaiting the DVD.

Yeah - I'll keep that one on the radar and to-see list.

Trying to catch up on a few more of the award-nominated films in the coming weeks before the Academy Awards. Glad to have caught up with American Hustle, Captain Phillips, The Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas Buyers Club of late. Still gotta see Rush, 12 Years a Slave, All is Lost, Big Booty Hos 27, Asian Punani Volume 317, Pound that Pussy 47, and a few others.

fuck this unnecessary movement. Niggas don't need another music channel and it's nothing new. Diddy ain't never been about empowering blacks and that's ok, but i don't find this shit exciting nor do i buy into the hype. Another nigga movement because diddy, like magic, is the safe choice and comcast had to partner up on this, play fair says the fcc and more. Well, at least it won't specialize in re-runs of black sitcoms.

c/s!

Saw The Internship yesterday and enjoyed it - knowing full well it would be lightweight fun, and a general formulaic comedy about the underdogs "doing well", etc. Some of the funniest shit was the few minutes they spent at the club with the topless chicks moving about, and the one cat getting his first lapdances & having to clean up in the washroom with the hand dryer 3 times in succession. Tiya Sircar can get the business too. 31 years old and playing 18 - 21 ... nice shorty right there.

That Awkward Moment

Not as bad as some critics made it out to be.I actually like the late 80's and early 90's romantic vibe of the film.
None of the actor's do a bad job,or come off obnoxious.
The film struggles with finding its identity, sometimes it felt like i was watching a straight dramedy, other times a
raunchy sex romp. There is a slight weakness to a couple of characters, who should have been far more outraged about
the situations they found themselves in.Plus this has to be one of the tamest R rated films i have ever watched.Take
out a few curses, and a party scene and it definitely could have received a PG-13 rating.
Charming and funny at times but definitely wait for this one to hit Netflix.

Scale 1 to 10 a 7

Thanks for the intel, JB. Won passes to That Awkward Moment last week, but couldn't make it & passed the tickets off to a friend.

Welcome HF.YOUR BETTER OFF BECAUSE ITS REALLY A RENTAL OR WAIT TO WATCH ON CABLE FLICK. LIKE I SAID IT WAS PRETTY TAME.IT'S ONE OF THOSE FLICKS IN WHICH THE WOMEN HAVE SEX WHILE WEARING TANK TOPS AND BRAS.

Good shit, man. I hear you regarding the sex scenes with tank tops and bras. Reminds me of the action and horror movies that try to minimize the blood/language to get a better rating and avoid the 'R' or 'NC-17' and potentially score something softer. Trying to get caught up on some of the Oscar nominees in the weeks to come before the Oscars on March 2nd. Stuff like The Butler, Rush, 12 Years, Despicable Me 2, Her, etc. ... have already seen Gravity 3D, Captain Phillips, Inside Llewyn Davis, American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, etc.
