For reals bruh. I tell and show my kids daily that I love them but at the same time I let them know I am not the nurturer, that's my wife's role and she embraces it.

Same thing here family. Growing up I was literally my father's side kick. Hell I was balancing check books with him @ 12. I think this brother is spot on. I think the part that we are leaving out is that men defined femininity and masculinity. We defined femininity by who we would court and marry. We defined masculinity by who we would allow to date our daughters. A women had no say in the matter. A man that was considered a poor mate for his daughter would be quickly sent packing. Men became better providers and protectors to gain access quality women. They new their would be a stern judgmental father figure as the gatekeeper.

The man's leadership sets the role and foundation for the daughter to model in the form of support not leadership. She will then know what to expect from men when she gets older.
Young boys of course need that model to emulate and imitate when it's their turn. And that's it. It's been done that way for centuries. Without male leadership and I mean proper firm but loving male leadership the whole thing gets skewed. With black folks it can also become matriarchal. Functional maybe for awhile but that skews the whole model.
