Cops arrested one biker and are hunting for two more who allegedly beat and slashed a man in front of his wife and 2-year-old child after a wild chase through upper Manhattan.

Motorcyclist Christopher Cruz, 28, allegedly sparked the wild ordeal after he swerved in front of Alexian Lien, 33, on the Henry Hudson Parkway and stopped short, causing Lien to rear-end Cruz on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Cruz, of Passaic, N.J. — who was riding with a swarm of dozens of motorcycles that surrounded Lien's Range Rover — allegedly cut the driver off and caused an accident, police said.


The biker was charged with menacing, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a child. He was waiting to be arraigned Tuesday.

It was still unclear if there were any confrontations between Lien and the bikers before the accident near W. 116th St., but when the driver stopped police said several of the brutal bikers began to bash the Range Rover with their helmets and slashed his tires.

Lien hit the gas to escape, plowing into at least three motorcycles and striking one of the bikers, Jeremiah Mieses, 26 — breaking both the man’s legs, sources said.

“The rider was bleeding out of his mouth and nose even though he had a helmet on,” said a witness, who asked to remain anonymous. “He was conscious but couldn’t move at all.”

NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said about 30 motorcyclists, most of whom riding sport and dirt bikes, caught up to Lien on W. 178th St., where he had to stop because of his slashed tires.

One of the riders unclipped his helmet, which he used to smash open the driver’s side window of Lien’s car. Another biker punched at the window to the backseat, where Lien’s daughter was sitting.

Lien’s wife, Rosalyn Ng, was sitting in the front passenger seat.

“He’s taken out of the car. He is assaulted,” Kelly said.

Lien was punched and slashed to the face with a knife in front of horrified bystanders. Cops arrived a few minutes later, but the bikers fled.

The bleeding Lien was taken to Columbia University Medical Center, where he received stitches for his wounds and was later released.



Meises, the 26-year-old biker, was taken to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, where he was being treated for two broken legs. Friends and family said that doctors feared the biker may never walk again.

“My son just got out of surgery. Now we have to contend with his situation that he will never walk again,” Meises’ father, the Rev. Edwin Mieses of Hazleton, Pa., posted on Facebook.

Mieses was riding with the group, which was part of a loosely organized annual ride to Times Square.

Kelly said police were monitoring the group — put together by Hollywood Stuntz, who caused chaos at the Crossroads of the World last year — and arrested 15 bikers, confiscated 55 motorcycles and issued 68 summonses.
Police said Lien initially stopped after the accident, but several angry bikers began to bash his car with their helmets and slash his tires before he fled.

Cruz was on a bike that cut off Lien’s Range Rover and slowed down in front of him as other bikers circled the vehicle as the horror show initially unfolded in Harlem, police said.

He was rear-ended by Lien around 1:30 p.m., sparking a half-hour confrontation that forced the driver over to the side of the road, where other bikers slashed the father’s tires and one enraged rider opened the driver’s door and tried to pull him out of the SUV, sources said.

Law enforcement sources said Cruz’ erratic driving sparked the melee.

Cruz was briefly hospitalized and released for minor injuries, including lower back pain, authorities said.

He remained at the scene and is not believed to be among 20 to 30 bikers who followed the family up the West Side Highway onto West 178th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights. That’s where the Range Rover came to a stop because its slashed tires went flat.

Police released a photo Tuesday morning of two suspects in the assault and slashing, which sent the father to the hospital for stitches on his face and chest. Lien, who also suffered two black eyes, was treated and released.

Video from a camera on one of the biker’s helmets shows a man with a Guyana sticker on the back of his blue bike watching as another biker smashed Lien’s window with his helmet. It also captured a rider who has a black and white spider’s web pattern on the tail pipe jumping off and pummeling the SUV.

The footage stops before Lien is dragged out of the car, beaten and slashed but cops are looking for those two riders who appeared to be part of the mob that attacked the victim in front of his horrified wife and two-year-old daughter, sources said.

The thing is, the Range Rover Driver was on his anniversary. He was in no rush. He provoked it by honking his horn and running into the back of the first driver. First of all, as a motorist, your not supposed to be tailgating anyone. Extra careful with a motorcyclist. Secondly, common sense supposed to kick in, when you see all the bikers, the voice in your head should say "let me not do anything to piss off these dudes, because it might not end well for me". So with that said, he shouldn't have been tailgating, and he shouldn't have been provoking, fuck road rules and right-of-way, this is street survival common sense. He should have sized up the situation from the gate, and just let them by, i'd rather slow down for five minutes to let a bunch of ego driven bikers by, then to let the streets handle it, and let my daughter watch her dad receive a ass whoopin, courtesy of the ruff ryders. Yes, the bikers were wrong for clipping him, but so what. your gonna lose regardless, even if your right. your outnumbered (by the hundreds), by street cats with vehicles that are faster, and more agile than your vehicle. Use your head.

Between your first sentence and your last sentence, you invalidated your whole point, but anyways:

- You aren't going to remember a license plate in a chase.

- He doesn't have to out-run them, he just needs to go right through him

- He was probably trying to get off the highway in to a general area, which probably saved him. He can stop when sees the first police cruiser.

- The driver is out the hospital, while the other some of the bikers will probably never even walk again

- We don't know what happened before the break check, but we do know he was surrounded by 100's of bikes, even if did try to slow down on the highway he probably would've caused a chain-reaction with all the bikes behind him.

Son in the range was honking at them knowing its going to create road rage. He started this.

That's the way it looks to me too. He started a fight and it went bad for him. Motorcycle groups aren't known for driving slowly so if he had laid back a couple seconds, they would have been gone and nothing would have happened.


I've seen this reported elsewhere as a "motorcycle gang" so I'm thinking White dudes in leather vests and tattoos of eagles and skulls on Harleys. This was surprising.

Follow Up - Range Rover Runs Over NYC Bikers. Minutes before Incident


Shot from the 30th Floor of a high rise at 42nd Street and 10th Avenue in New York City.
This location is south of where the SUV ran over the bikers. Filmed minutes before the pack of bikers turned onto the West Side Highway where the incident took place. The audio doesn't do justice to how loud these guys were. Upon viewing the street from my deck the pack of motorcycles was cruising down the street the wrong way in traffic. They held up multiple traffic lights as they blew through them en mass. They were obviously taunting drivers and didn't have any regard for traffic laws.

The suv driver was obviously doing what he had to do to get his child to safety unfortunately the bike rider was a casualty to what was provoked by the riders . Please realize that we are NOT about revenge nor violence. We just want the media to stop polishing this heartless act and saying there were NO INJURIES. They are only mentioning the "horrifying" experience the driver endured and overlook what HE DID. Regardless of "supposed reasons" it's obvious attempted manslaughter. I don't want harm nor hate towards the SUV driver, just a TRUTHFUL STORY Thank you for all your support and to those of you who are laughing about this and saying that my nephew DESERVED it, God forgive and bless you and your family. I hope you never have to endure such a terrible experience.

Steven Jimenez Good point Aaron. He was on the phone with 911 and I have yet to read or hear about any of the bikers calling 911 for help. Reports are saying that as he was on the phone with 911 his car was being damaged and he fled for his safety. The man stopped and called 911, why would he do that and then decide to run someone over unless he felt threatened.

Steve Trenchard I never like to see anyone hurt, but Will is absolutely correct. Just just week I saw three motorists (on different days) riding at speeds reaching 90 miles an hr and weaving through traffic on a busy highway! Its ridiculous, and it leaves me wonder who is to blame in all of these biker accidents. I will never donate to any biker funds, nor will I put one of those stupid "watch for motorcycles" signs in my front lawn. Hope this guy gets well though.

Additionally, I've never seen someone driving a car riding a wheelie down a highway at 100mph+in the middle of the night making it impossible for a motorcycle rider to decide whether or not it was safe to change lanes. Let me start by saying I am an African-American living in New York in my 40's. From what I can see of the video it looks like the bikers are African-American. I hate to say this to those bikers, but you, and everybody on this website defending you with their "retaliation" attitude are a disgrace and hindrance to the furthering of African-Americans. You wonder why white people are afraid of you, you wonder why you are stopped and frisked, you wonder why white people move out of the neighborhood when you move in...its because of stuff like this. You do not value your life, which means you don't value others lives. Only someone who doesn't value life would put himself in harms way the way these bikers did..and all for what? To punch, kick, slap, terrorize someone who was afraid of you? What does that do for you? Does it make you feel good? Do you feel respected now? Did you get what you wanted? Was it worth it? Because now you're going to prison...you will be caught. And all for what? What? Because someone "disrespected" you. If you wanted justice for your friend who had the broken leg you would have called the cops when you finally cornered the driver. Instead you and your immature brain, which doesn't value your own life, made a decision that will now affect the rest of your life. Grow up!!! Be a man! Your an idiot. A rational person behind the wheel of a car does not use the car as a weapon. Nobody knows what happened before .23 so if your entire opinion hinges on the unknown than you- i'll say it again- are an idiot. Fact is whatever happened before .23 dude felt strongly enough to try and slow guy in the truck down. We also know that dude in the truck ran over a man and paralyzed him... with his infant child and wife in the car. Dude you need to be logical. The driver stopped his vehicle only to be attacked by some thugs. Would you have stayed there after someone just opened your door with intention of doing harm.
