I respect your opinion, but you are in the minority. Dude is raw to me and I have a hard time putting anyone in front of him at the moment. I'm biased, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

IMO, Le$ outta Houston is the nicest out right now...dude just makes straight G shit...



To me, this is better than anything Kendrick has ever put out...just a tight flow over a smooth track.

NAh. I like Le$ too. Nice lil flow and beats are always tight to ride to. But Kendrick is way different when it comes to rapping. Many Styles, delivery and subjects is what makes him special. Maybe you was like me and have to get used to the high pitched voice:dunno:
 
Just don't see what the hype is...cats were like "Section 80 is dope" and that shit almost put me to sleep. I fucks w/ the Miguel "How Many Drinks" joint, but why the fuck is Kendrick even on that shit? Shit is a great R&B song, why they even need to put a rapper on it, and then Kendrick come w/ that soft shit? Dude's music just doesn't move me.

EXACTLY. I don't know if people just aren't listening or if they're just hatin on the dude because he's the self-proclaimed leader of the new school. I don't know. K. Lamar is just raw as fuck to me.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I feel like Houston is so underrated in Hip Hop. They started making some noise circa 2003-06 or so, but then they just kind of fizzled a bit.
 
Kendrick is aiight but his hype has alot to do with the mobb co sign mentality, people think he's dope because they are told to believe he's dope.

No doubt this exists all throughout pop culture, but I know that's not the case for me. I've always made up my own mind, especially about my music. I don't know. You have a point and I can't speak for everyone else. I know I like dude because I like dude, not because everyone else does.

Yeah, that's how it comes off to me...I don't think Kendrick is trash or nothin like that, but I don't see him as any type of leader or pioneer in the rap game.
 
no doubt, he's definateley not wack by any means, and I believe yall do like him because you just do. but most people frontin'. I think Drake is actually nicer when he wants to be. Drake can make better records than Kendrick. Kendricks voice is just too gimmicky and i cant listen to a whole album of him doing 5 different voices.

We never really fell off, i just think the torch really never got passed. these cats that's rapping here still put out quality music and they been doing it since they was teenagers. for example, slim thug came on the scene when he was 16, 17 years old. Dude is 32, 33 years old now.....same can be said for most Houston rappers. They all been grinding since they was teenagers and never really fell off. Now, with kirko, le$, fat Tony, propaine, doughbeezy, delo, and a few other cats, the torch finally getting passed. they got a high standard to live up to, but they up to it i think. It won't be long before one if these dudes hit and Houston back on top.
