ESPN has parted ways with Hugh Douglas.
“He no longer works for us effective today,” said an ESPN spokesperson.
The former NFL player and Numbers Never Lie panelist was let go by ESPN today after disturbing details emerged last week from Deadspin and The Big Lead regarding an alleged confrontation between Douglas and ESPN Numbers Never Lie host Michael Smith at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair in Orlando. ESPN issued a statement last Tuesday saying, “We are aware there was a disagreement between Hugh Douglas and Michael Smith. We are looking into the situation.”
Douglas tweeted shortly after the news of his dismissal broke, but largely reserved comment.

Asked Sunday by SI.com where the situation stood, ESPN spokesperson Rob Tobias said, “We are continuing to look into it and we expect a resolution this week.”
That resolution has come today.

i do want to hear hughes side, something tells me, smith provoked everything but hugh took the ngr route and that's why he's unemployed. remember smith is always trying to jive on air, he's a smart dude, but he kind of comes across as a play too much type of dude sometimes, even more since hill joined the show. hugh had on his bow tie and smith said u got some bean pies.

I can tell, the show felt empty today. Michael and Jemele can't hold down a show together. Either the show gets cancel or they hire someone with a personality quick. I'm not really crazy about the show, so Hugh didn't get fired from the ESPN mothership of all shows. But still, you got fired, lost your money over drinking. But like mention, Fox is hiring but honestly Hugh isn't going to draw people to watch him.
