2. Portable (travelers can hook it up in hotels... Take it to friends houses... Etc...)

Im sure there will be more now that its rooted and devs will find other uses.

The benefits:

Seamlessly play YouTube videos on your TV via a phone, laptop or tablet. Your phone/tablet literally becomes your remote to control the videos.

Nothing really but since it has open development and can be rooted we will see.

And to add:

If you already have a SmartTV, or any other streaming player, then you really do not need ChromeCast.

The benefits:

I found some extra settings on the Chromecast extension for Chrome.

So I went to my Chrome extensions window and clicked "Options" for the Google Cast extension.
In the tab, I right clicked > Inspect Element.

I noticed that a section of the page had a "display: none;" so I removed that and got this:

Just wanted to share my findings in case anyone was interested..

Has to be ChromeCast compatible for now, or within the Chrome browser.

Almost bought one, but I just do not see a need for it.

I have some kind of streaming box connected to all my TVs already so buying this adds no advantage for me.

This would be good to have if you travel a lot

update: just read on XBMC forums, they got Python working on it and said that Chrome has a dependency on it as to be a blocker at the moment. I am sure they will get XBMC onto that, then it's a wrizzap!
