I been around weapons for over 40 years 29 professionally and competition combined we call most mags MAGS but clips are acceptable

Considering I made mention that I carry an XDm that's what I referring to. Don't know shit about 1911's as I only buy guns I can carry concealed. And I didn't mention ALL Springfield's anyway, come on now that should've been obvious...thus I.E.
EMPs are much smaller than most XD's, I carry an emp because of the Barrel (BULL) and it has only 3 main safeties, plus a DEEP ASS Beveled mag well. that little monster is smaller than my hand plus it has a BULL BARREL

You can't go wrong with one of the three
Glock 17 (comes with 2 17 rnd magazines)
Smith and Wesson M&P 9MM (comes 2 with 17 rnd magazines)
Springfield XDM 9mm (comes 2 with 19 rnd magazines)
I have all three but the xdm is my favorite it has the same feel of a 1911 plus it has the largest magazine coming from the factory. If thats not a problem in the state where you live. The second choice would be the M&P 9mm. The last the father of the plastic gun is the glock its a good first time gun but the feel is not as natural as the first two plus you can get one of the largest magazine of the three from retailers a 100 rnd c mag.

Went to the range last week... a lot of things went through my head after the first shot!
1st of all I'm still here (didn't pull a Plaxico) so I'm thankful for that. I only shot the modified Glock 27 (ammo is cheaper), mostly 8's and 9's on the target.
Definitely learned a lot, it's a lot of power to wield but I definitely recommend that people do this on a semi-regular basis because it's nothing to play around with. Well, at least in my mind it's nothing to play around with. Next time I go imma give the 40's a shot to see the difference.

with the 27, you won't see much difference btw the 9mm vs 40 cal.
I've recently read an article that the 27 is the best glock to own as far as bang for the buck, conceal carry, accuracy, price, & reliability.
I'm searching for the elusive model 29 rt now...no luck.

more expensive does not = better or more reliable or easier/better to use. it simply means you've spent more $$$.
I don't like fancy guns with lots of gadgets & i can't comprehend what having a "good-looking" gun even means.

Finally decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on a new Glock 17 Gen3 today, I was holding out because I really wanted the OD Green or FDE one but MF'ers are charging a shit ton for em almost as much as my HK45. 
Oh well....10 long days to wait now.

They're surprisingly accurate though....when they actually fire.

thanks and I got the gen3 because it was cheaper, and aside from the new recoil spring assem. the changes were minor and didn't really care for them.
Some people prefer the reliability of the old design. The new Glocks have yet to prove their worth. Not to say they won't as Glock is a great product, but newer isnt always better.
