I want a 9mm... any tips?

why ya'll like glocks???? is it the price???
I just hate the way the upper grinds against the lower and the lack of balance.

SIGs are smooth and very solid hand guns (and HKs), the upper is like oiled butter when is charged

Man I love my sig, just too damn heavy to carry around but they make great house guns.
I found my grail last year, a P229 SCT. I even got a helluva deal on it, brand new with all the mags for $800 right before that school shooting that made the prices shoot up.

I almost pulled the trigger on this....Still up in the air about it

the only thing is you have to buy the bullets from them

question for the conceal carriers, do you keep one in the chamber? I do at all times but notice most don't.

No point walking around not hot. It's for life and death situations.

and, yeah, like these guys, I keep a Sig P220 in my truck at all times with one in the chamber. It is SA/DA so a trigger pull starts the party without touching the slide or hammer. I also have a KelTec p11 on my hip at all times with one chambered. The KT is DA so I don't have to worry about accidental discharge or anything that comes with carrying a 1911 (or the like) in condition 0.

For the record, I don't have a 1911 at the moment because I want a double stack 1911, but I wouldn't even carry in condition 0, I would carry in condition 1.

:eek::eek: i'd definitely change-out to the tungsten rods if i make this conversion.

cot damn man... where you live?:lol::lol:

but seriously, they're in the business of selling bullets. and if you convert, they HAVE TO stay in business or your $$$ is wasted. it's hard enough buying ammo at academy and walmart nowadays. i'd hate to have a sole supplier for my ammo.

:dunno:

I carry a chambered round depends where I am due to the risk. I usually but I do carry a EMP and I have GREAT reaction times and I compete in 2 and 3 gun competitions

great question

i don't carry "hot."

first, i try to stay OUT of bad situations as best as i can.

but when things do go 'wild,' i'm usually well aware and doing a quick 'slingshot' pull on my slide to go 'hot.'

i don't "show" unless i plan to point.
i don't point unless i plan to pull the trig.

Exactly. ...that is why I canceled the order when I realized I they olny provided the ammo.

Trust if I could buy the ammo at Cabelas or Wal-Mart I would have got this a while back

I don't get the point of not carrying hot. If you get in a situation to where you have to draw and then put a round in the chamber and then fire, if the other person is chambered then what?

lol the reason I don't carry hot because hundreds of police officiers shot themselves when they deploy their weapon, The key is train TRAIN and TRAIN. personally I am one of the "GUN NUTS" and I compete and I don't carry "chambered" because the risk is not worth it. ON THAT NOTE, I do chamber a round when I am in a high risk area, so I guess you can say I do carry my weapon chambered when I feel I need it.

I carry my EMP on my person the my Jeep gun is the SOCOM II or the KSG (for bears or mountain lion, oh yeah and enraged drug smugglers) when I am out exploring the mountains/desert

Totally agree!

Take it a step further my brother (ex police, homicide and undercover DEA for 17 yrs) doesnt believe in have a safety on!!!

:eek::smh::hmm:

I dont necessarily agree with that but here is his reasoning:

He says he has seen too many cases of cops on and off duty killed who had drawn their weapon but the safety was on. He reason that the ultimate safety is you and your management of the trigger and knowledge of your weapon.

I see some say they practice clambering a round for an emergency why not cut out that step and just be ready for the thumb flick to release safety.

I like this, it seems as there are more than a few members that are into guns and personal protection. With that said, there are terminologies that are prevalent in the "gun culture". In regard to carry conditions they are designated by numbers. See the below for the proper "condition number".

Condition Four: Chamber empty, no magazine, hammer down.
Condition Three: Chamber empty, full magazine in place, hammer down.
Condition Two: A round chambered, full magazine in place, hammer down.
Condition One: A round chambered, full magazine in place, hammer cocked, safety on.
Condition Zero: A round chambered, full magazine in place, hammer cocked, safety off.

I don't carry guns with a hammer but best scenario IMO is chamber one and then load the clip full.

Still a newbie here...

If you have one in the chamber but don't use it, is it easy to take it out to place back in the magazine? You're not forced to use it right?

Do you just pull the slide back, turn it over and let it fall out?

Pretty much. Or if you pull the slide with force it'll eject just as a shell ejects after a fire.

drop the mag, then rack the slide back to eject the chambered round. I lock the slide back and allow the ejected round to land on the floor. You can catch the round if you're into the slick shit

DO NOT clear your round first, and then drop the mag. :hmm:

As all of us have done when we were first starting out, be sure to take a basic gun safety class. It will be invaluable to you, and teach you lessons that you will continue to draw from or the rest of your life.
